No draft beer but a good selection of wine by the glass and nice that they offer 6oz as well as a healthier 9oz versions. Shared a half dozen half shell oysters and a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were good sized, though they'd been cooked a bit too long. The oysters were perfectly shucked and fresh. Parker house rolls in the warm bread basket. Get them. Wonderful. The wife got a cup of lobster bisque while I got a bowl. The serving size was very similar between them; my bowl was just a fancier presentation with a small pile of lobster in the center. The grouper was good, but I wouldn't order again. it was described as having gnocchi and peas, though there were only a couple of each. At least it had a nice broth and a spoon to slurp it up with. Not my favorite experience of all the Ocean Prime's we've visited, but still a pleasant dinner. read more

We went to Ocean Prime to celebrate my nephew's birthday. They did such a job making him feel special! They even printed a special menu with his name on the top! Pretty big for a 14-year-old. I must say that the best thing about this place is the ambiance. They are very intentional about the dim lighting and using items (ex. Wine) to create exquisite art throughout the establishment. There is a lot of parking spaces present at the location. The service was great. Our servers were phenomenal and attentive to our needs. The food will take some time to come out once placed. Overall,the food was alright. I got the teriyaki salmon with sticky rice and shitaki mushrooms. The salmon was cooked beautifully and I love that the sauce was not too bitter or sweet. However, it would have been wonderful if it had some heat to it. The shitaki mushrooms added a pleasant surprise. You are definitely paying more for the experience than the food. read more

Visited Ocean prime for the first time during Devour Indy. We don't know why we haven't eaten here before! For devour INDY they had a three course meal. The first course was choice of salad, French Onion Soup or deviled eggs. My wife and I both got the French Onion Soup. It was a cold night and it sounded good. Good does not describe the soup. It was excellent! In fact, it is some of the best French Onion Soup we have ever had. For the entrée, you could get 6oz teriyaki salmon for $18, 6oz pork chop for $25, 6oz blackened snapper for $18, or a 60z fillet for $20. It was $55. My wife got the snapper and I got the fillet. My steak was cooked just the way I ordered and like it. The blackened snapper was wonderful! Our meal was served promptly and was hot when it arrived at the table. The dessert option was five layer carrot cake or ice cream. Our meal was so filling that we got our dessert to go. They have a nice lounge/bar area. They have a happy hour until 6 PM on weekday nights. Good prices on both drinks and food. They serve a bowl of free popcorn in the lounge. Very nice atmosphere in this area of the restaurant. You can just go, sit in the bar, and make a meal of appetizers during happy hour. We will definitely return! Service was also outstanding. Very professional and attentive. Came here for the Devour Indy event with my dinner group. We received fantastic service and the food was phenomenal, with the exception of the carrot cake, which was unfortunately what I was looking forward to the most. I had the deviled eggs for my appetizer which were nicely filled, could have used a tiny bit more flavor, but were delicious with a lot of filling piped atop. For my main course I had the salmon which came on a bed of sticky rice amidst a soy butter sauce... So this was hands down the best salmon I have ever had in a restaurant. The rice was perfectly done, not mushy and not too hard either. The soy butter sauce was simply divine. And the salmon ... also done to perfection. So often you get a dry piece of fish, this was a juicy delicious and rather large piece of salmon. Sooo very good. Alas the carrot cake, what a tragedy there. Granted it has been a while since I had ventured here (simply financial reasons) but on my last visit I enjoyed the carrot cake, which then had been a light fluffy, mile high high to die for affair. It had been so good, I remember it vividly and so I talked everyone into getting it for dessert. Now I feel guilty for that because what we got was far cry from my last experience. While this cake had the same amount of layers, each layer was dense, hard and tasteless. I would never again pay money for that. But back to the good parts. I had been torn about which cocktail to indulge in and my server took the time to make recommendations. I decided on the Berry Bubbles, which is named well. The drink was indeed bubbling looking like a witches cauldron and it kept going and going and going. I was a bit hesitant to drink it at first, afraid of getting bubbles up my nose, but they did not. Experienced Ocean Primes Happy Hour for the First Time and fell in Love! It is Monday- Friday from 4-6pm. If you haven't been I highly recommend! The Berries and Bubbles Cocktail wasn't just nice to look at, but tasted amazing as well. I absolutely love oysters and these were simple but great; horseradish, lemon, cocktail sauce, and Tabasco , all you need really. The Crab cake sliders were very flavorful, would definitely order again. The Prime Rib Sliders were good, just a bit dry, needed more sauce. The sushi was very good as well. I also got to try the Lamb Lollipops (not pictured) but those were amazing, and I will for sure be coming back for those. They were actually a good size for being "lollipops" and had great flavor. I finally got to try this place for happy hour and it was so delicious I went back again the next day. First things first, the place is really nicely decorated. Dim lighting creates a smooth vibe. They have a dining area, but the bar is the place to be. It gives very much sophisticated. The staff is very friendly and helpful and quick with the service. Tammy the bartender was my favorite. She started me off with a cocktail named The Osprey and it was really good. Check the picture of the menu to see what is all in it. The first day I went with some friends and family and we tried a little bit of everything on the happy hour menu. First was the Dynamite roll which was sushi. It was really good. Next we had the Crab Cake sliders which were to die for. They had this cheese on it that really made the slider. Next up I ordered the Lamb Lollipops, cooked medium and they came out perfect. Juicy and very well seasoned. It also came with this celery/carrot slaw on the side. Also great. Next up was the Short Rib Sliders. Now for these, they were good but could have used a little sauce to make them not as dry. But still good. We had the oysters next, which I'm not a big fan on raw oysters but these hit different. Made me rethink my palette. We also tried the Jumbo Shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were huge and tasted very fresh but my only problem with this is that there should have been more shrimp. It only comes with 4. Add one or two more and that would be perfect. Lastly, I had the Sakura Waygu cheeseburger. It was tender, melted in my mouth, and well seasoned. I mean delicious. Ocean prime is my absolute favorite restaurant. As soon as I walked in I was treated with two lovely smiles and the atmosphere was perfect. I got my complimentary coat check and was seated almost immediately. I opted to sit at the bar and they brought my truffle popcorn and water that I requested. This is by far one of our favorites in the close prosximity. We wanted to celebrate our 30th anniversary and this just seemed like the right place to go. As alway the service and facility are top notch. You feel welcome here the minute you walk int he door until you leave. Our waitress was great and so was the rest of the staff. Some of the best calamari I've had! I loved the sweet chili sauce it was tossed in. The waiter we had recommended the lamb lollipops, and he was spot on. I ordered several things from the menu and will review each below. Pineapple picante- this was tasty but not strong at all. It gives spicy margarita. Their drinks are not strong at all to me. Lamb chops- yummy! These were cooked to perfection and had glad flavor. Crab cake slides --hold the cheese!!! These were my favorite thing that I ordered!! So yummy!! Short rib sliders--these were dry. They needed some type of sauce. Tater tots- these were so good! A bit salty but good! Whatever is served with them for dipping I does not go well in my opinion. We initially went to Ocean Prime to celebrate my wife's birthday with no expectation other than her choice for seafood. Based on past experience I didn't have this restaurant as one of my favorites. However, our experience today changed my opinion of this restaurant. The hostess set the tone for us with the heart felt greeting. It was sincere and my wife felt it. As we set at the table our waiter "Joe" greeted us enthusiastically which again made us feel that much more welcome. He provided an extensive overview of the menu and specials with great accuracy. Joe showcased his knowledge by allowing us to provide input and then giving recommendations to best suit our taste buds. Since it was cold outside I opted for coffee. I wasn't prepared for the coffee I tasted. I pride myself on a good cup of coffee but this coffee was amazing! I asked Joe the name of the coffee he stated it was local provider by the name of Hubbard and Cravens. I have never of it but will surely remember and find out the location. This is the closet to one of the top Jamaician coffee I have tasted in years. Next, bread was brought to the table that just as tasty as any bread I have in long time. The pretzel bread was my favorite. I could have eaten a whole plate of it. As an appetizer I ordered the lobster bisque soup. Without question one of the top soups that rivals the lobster bisque soup I tasted often while living in Massachusetts. For the main course I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass that included broccolini, Pearl Onions, Potato Purée, and Truffle Vinaigrette. Sides included Mac n cheese and sautéed spinach. By this time I was full to capacity but paced in anticipation of what was to come for the grand finale. While waiting for the main course I drunk a pot of coffee and asked for another one and more bread. Although I didn't have much room left I managed to taste the goodness of the Chilean Bass meal. Utterly melting in your mouth. I can't state enough how pleased I was with the entire meal to include the Mac n cheese and spinach. After giving much thought I have now moved Ocean Prime into one of the top 5 slots as best restaurant Indianapolis. This is based on ambiance, taste, and customer service. We ventured out yesterday for Valentines Day at 4:00 to hit the Happy Hour in the bar......... We scored the last 2 seats at the bar which was perfect! Great vibe in that bar. As always the truffle popcorn is very good and it's hard to stop eating! Evelyn, our bartender, knows her stuff and presented my Saphire up w 1 blue cheese olive was served with "ice on the pond" was beautiful as was the Negroni. She also served a smoking dry ice drink to our neighbor at the bar, very "cool". We ordered the Hamachi Crudo and the Lamb Lollipops off the bar menu. They were both delish. We came for our recent wedding anniversary (10.7.23). They have a large surface parking lot, but also complimentary valet. We promptly greeted and seated into a large booth near the reception area, so I didn't get to see the rest of the restaurant, but it appeared like it was fiarly large. Our table was strewn with rose petals and they greeted us happy anniversary. Service and food were what you will expect for a higher end restaurant. Hubs likes and Old Fashioned, and I got a cocktail called the Black Orchard. We shared the crab cake. He had the pork chop with cider cabbage, and side of deliciously cheesy au gratin; I had the sea scallops on risotta. We did have some take home as well because we were saving room to try dessert. For dessert, a large french press coffee and their signature butter cake. Total with the items indicated was $200. Update on the fateful New Year's Eve party, brought in eight friends, some traveling four hours for Ocean Prime, had bragged for months about showing them this place. I checked online making sure the correct balances were on the gift cards I purchased. Their official site verified each number and pin without issue. So then half way through our meal the waiter noticed my cards, suddenly a manager shows up to inform a new policy that cards beginning with a nine sourced from an online site will not work. You can understand this rude awakening of landfill corporate policy since Ocean Prime gave no notice of this change on their website, zero heads up on Google or Yelp, and still to this day there is no clarification. As a seller on eBay, I personally support avoiding risk to ensure fair play. What gets my goat is their brainless attitude forcing suspicion towards me. Ocean Prime continues to sell gift cards and accept them across their locations. These are your products not mine. It is fully your business to make sure your products are working properly and sold and purchased within your own regulations. It is not the consumer who needs to make sure your products are valid. Thankfully there are many other excellent places in Indy where basic courtesy is held and consumers can easily engage without dumb surprises. I'll start with the service which really ruined my whole evening. If you're young and black you might be profiled depending on who your server is. I noticed our server treated us differently than the other tables she attended to. Her tone was very condescending. My husband wanted to order the king crab and she decided she needed to tell us it was very pricey and we probably didn't want to spend that much and he could do a half order to save us money. Mind you I'm aware of how market pricing works and wasn't concerned with the price. My husband did order the king crab and it was underwhelming. I did enjoy my blackened snapper. It was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of seasoning. I wasn't a fan of the veggies served with this dish. They were very bitter. The corn cake the snapper was served with complimented the fish. We finished our meal with the butter cake. It was delicious. I ordered a takeout order online. My order was to be ready at 4:30 PM for pickup. I arrived at 4:35 PM. After waiting 15 minutes or so I was walking out the door with my meal. The ocean roll was $28. It was good. The fish was fresh but nothing I couldn't get any place that serves sushi. The bread and pretzel sticks were a nice surprise. I really enjoyed the bread. No, I know it comes with every order. YAY, for carbs! The chocolate peanut butter pie was pretty tasty. It was very rich and was enough for two people. I am not convinced it was worth $17. I would like to give the restaurant another try. The next time I will be dining in. $50 for a takeout sushi roll and a dessert was steep in my opinion. Birthday celebration at one of our favorite restaurants did not disappoint. Valet parking made things quick and easy with front door drop off and pick up. Reservations made things extra special, upon arrival we were greeted with Happy Birthday from the team. It was a short wait, perhaps 10 minutes (we were early) however that time was filled with the team assisting us with some couples pictures. Once seated we received immediate service, birthday acknowledgments and drink and food recommendations. Our waitress was always visible and ensured we never wanted or waited for anything. Ocean Prime used to be our go to...unfortunately our last visit was underwhelming. Bar service was very good and the quality of the beverages were excellent. The dining room not so much, the appetizers and salad were excellent, main courses of ahi tuna and filet mignon were both over cooked to the point of sending them back. Poor preparation of the main courses coupled with a 1 1/2 hour wait to eat after placing our order put a damper on the evening. Our waiter was not rude but rather indifferent providing marginal service. He was on top of everything (including asking if we had any allergies before taking our orders back to the kitchen).
