I'm we had a wonderful dinner celebrating our anniversary at Eddie Merlot's. Top notch hospitality from the start to finish, and wonderful dishes. I can't thank them enough for making our night feel so special. We started with the sweet and spicy shrimp. I had New Orleans mixed grill which comes with a filet mignon and shrimp. I loved them both. The filet was 4oz, but with all the bread and appetizer I had prior to that, it was the right size for me. They also brought us a dessert plate that says Happy Anniversary. This restaurant has a parking lot with plenty of spaces available, making it easy and convenient to visit. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and inviting, with a comfortable atmosphere that makes for an enjoyable evening out. We visited on a Thursday evening, and it was surprisingly quiet. Although reservations probably weren't necessary that night, we had made them in advance. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service throughout the meal. We started with a bottle of wine and were served complimentary bread, which was a nice touch. For appetizers, we ordered the crab cakes, and they were outstanding--full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The Caesar salad and French onion soup were both very good as well. For our entrées, we ordered steaks, and each one was cooked exactly as requested. Everything was prepared well and served hot. Since we were celebrating a birthday, the restaurant treated us to a complimentary chocolate raspberry dessert, which was delicious and a wonderful way to end the meal. To finish the evening, we enjoyed a chocolate martini, and it was absolutely yummy--rich, smooth, and the perfect dessert cocktail. Overall, we had a very pleasant dining experience. The food, service, and atmosphere were all enjoyable. Only con was you could hear music from a room next store and nice music from the restaurant which was conflicting. Loved the low‑key vibe, but the dress‑code warning on the door had me stressed for nothing--everyone was in jeans, so apparently the sign is just for decoration. Starters were the stars: the king crab & corn bisque and ahi tuna wontons were fantastic. Entrées... not so much. The bone‑in steak fought back (never a good sign) and the New Orleans mixed grill had shrimp with the texture of a stress ball. Great experience. Visited during Devour week and absolutely no drop off in quality. Treated beautifully from entering to leaving. Food prepared perfectly. Our server, Deanna, is a consummate professional; she was there timing our every need perfectly and showed that she really cared to make our visit the best possible experience. What was really impressive were the not just one, but two managers who visited to see if anything was needed while the same time helping their busy staff. Our experience at Eddie Merlot's was so fun! They set us up with a table that allowed privacy and was great for a date night. The staff treated us with care and helped guide us through the menu. Had reservations at Sullivan's but didn't know they were closed due to a fire. They posted on their door that Eddie Merlot's is a fine steakhouse and is accepting Sullivan's gift cards. We figured we'd give it a shot. Service was great, Shyanna explained things to us. She didn't rush us, we had a lovely time. She suggested the filet pot stickers, which had a nice chile sauce on them. She also recommended the Brussels sprouts which were very good too. We had a ribeye and the New Orleans plate. Everything was cooked to perfection. The ribeye had more of a char on the outside, which I wasn't fond of, but the inside was a perfect medium rare. Oh the fresh warm bread was too good! Also the Caesar salad was the best I've had in a long time! Cocktails and wine were nice. We watched Shyanna prep bananas foster at the next table, we had the brownie which is also prepped table side and flamed! Nice music was playing, a good range of years. Let me start by saying the service was great. We ordered filet off the devour menu and it came with mashed potatoes and green beans. There was so much "char" on the outside of the steak I could only take a few bites. The green beans- they had black char from the grill on them as well. Some may enjoy this, but the taste was really strong. Disappointing for sure. read more

The decor is elegant, it's quiet and easy to talk, and it oozes class without extra high prices. They offer a 3 course lunch special with 3-5 choices in each course. Update on Eddie Merlots....We were invited back for Second chance and we went on Easter Sunday for their brunch and it was amazing. The carved filet with the Diane sauce was incredible. Raw oysters and Ahi Tuna ( yes please) they were great. The banana fosters was the bast I have ever had and I am a banana fosters connoisseur The manager that I spoke to originally was Madelyn and she was and has been so kind, helpful and accommodating . She constantly checked on us during brunch and made sure we were good. The GM Hal came to the table at the end to talk to us and he was so very kind and helpful. It was super busy today and I appreciate the time they took, the attitude and professionalism they maintained and the second chance they offered us because it was an amazing experience this time. Today was 16 yr anniversary so we came here to celebrate. We've been here many times but just this year we realized that you can buy 2 $50 digital gift cards for $80 so saving $20 but hey $20 bucks is $20 bucks. I had the Wagyu filet. It was soooooo amazing. Hubby got the Wagyu ribeye but it was too fatty, greasily & 2 sliver skin running thru so sent it back & ordered the Wagyu filet. Then we both shared the lobster mashed potatoes. It was soooooo delicious! We usually ordered the lobster Mac'n & cheese but this lobster mashed potatoes is a whole new flavor. Soooooo yummy!!! Then at the end, they gave us 2 free deserts so hubby ordered the turtle cheese cake & I got the desert merlot coffee. All of it was super delicious. The happy hour food was sub standard even for a bar food sort of place. The "prime rib" meat was chewy in the French dip and the pot stickers. We came here to celebrate our engagement, and it was just okay, nothing super special. Our server was a gem; she was super attentive, funny, and professional. There was practically no one there so we got waited on and seated very quickly. The appetizers were our favorite part. We got the beef dumplings and the corn and lobster bisque. The bisque was probably my favorite I've ever had. I ordered a filet mignon cooked medium, and it came out extremely rare. I had to send it back to get cooked longer, which I never like to do at restaurants. I do, though, highly recommend the mashed potatoes and mushrooms! It was an epic birthday celebration and Eddie Merlot's delivers after all these years. The Northside/Keystone area lost a few fine dining standards like The Keystone Grille and Fleming's Prime Steakhouse, however Eddie Merlot's remains. Our food (and there was a lot of it, with a table of 6) was delicious. Usually Eddie Merlot's Indianapolis 96th St. location would earn a strong 5-star rating. This particular Saturday night in late September was extremely busy. There were several birthday celebrations. Our server was excellent and kept our host from getting antsy about the pace of the meal. The calamari came out in a timely manner. The main course--this time it took longer than their standard. Thankfully the main course was delicious; we were ravenous and our host was tired of bread, calamari and drinks. The manager came by several times. The birthday girl wanted Bananas Foster, a house favorite, prepared table side. Love Love Love the wine list here. (Even though Coopers Hawk, a wine-oriented restaurant is next door, order wine at Eddie Merlot's). Their list is extensive and there are some standouts not offered at every Northside steakhouse. One faux pas is not going to stop me from coming back and hopefully providing a 5-star review based on my next experience. read more

Honestly disappointed. For the prices I expected gourmet. I want my fries cut by a chef... My desserts hand made... Brussels sprouts actually cooked... a steak of higher quality and presentation. Only our second visit here, but first for the Easter Brunch. The dining room was extremely chilly. I was fortunate I had a sport coat on, but my wife and daughter didn't have a wrap with them. Heard neighboring tables comment on the temp as well. Some of the food was delicious, some not so much. The omelette station and banana fosters station were superb. My daughter enjoyed the oysters and my wife the salmon. Bit thenfilet mignion and jam, not so much. Both were overcooked and dry. Many of the lids where the warm food was served were broken and missing handles. I don't know how you justify putting out that kind of equipment and expect people to struggle to get to things and be okay with that. Service was fine during the meal. She kept the table clear and glasses full. But we waited over 30 minutes for our check after we told her we were ready for it. So some delicious items, some not so delicious and some we never got to try because we couldn't access them. For what we paid, I expected much better than what we got. read more

This was one of the best Father's Day lunches that we've had in sometime. The food was absolutely delicious. We arrived and was immediately seated. My husband was acknowledged for Father's Day as water and bread was brought to our table. The ambiance was very welcoming, it has such a historical feel. It's really pretty with a ancient vibe. Our reservation was at 2p so we beat the crowd, they made us feel like we had private dining. Our server Evelyn was so sweet, knowledgeable and professional. Service was good and the grilled wedge salad was great. However, I ordered the lobster rolls for dinner and it was truly horrible. I only had one bite and it smelled like a fish market. It was obviously bad and they still chose to serve it. Alright on a regular night I love this restaurant. Great service wonderful vibe but this is a buffet review. Husband and I went for the Easter buffet and I'm assuming because it's a good assumption that the food would be just as delicious as it normally is. I mean it's the same restaurant. I hate to report back that it was not. The meats that's at the carving station is ice cold. They were actively telling people they don't have to close the lids to the serving trays (even though that's how you keep the food warm). I was really disappointed by this visit especially since it was $74 per person but that wasn't $74 quality worth of food. The best thing I had was my water and my Barry white martini. I'll be back for regular dinner but I wouldn't give them my money on a special occasion service like the Easter brunch. read more

We were a party of 8 (4 couples.). We sat in a long table in the bar. Chairs were extremely comfortable. Keyboard player/ singer was outstanding and took requests. Ambiance was 5 stars. Server was kind and attentive. We all had the $99 meal for 2. Food was just average. I had the filet and my husband had the strip. The steaks were reminiscent of Ponderosa (2-3 stars). Definitely not high quality. We had filet potstickers (3 stars) and sweet and spicy shrimp (4 stars). Grilled asparagus (4 stars). Salmon entree (4 stars). Mashed potatoes (3 stars). Creamed spinach (5 stars!). We would return for the ambience. But would never order a steak here again unless the steaks on the regular menu are completely different. read more

I consider myself a bit of a wedge salad connoisseur, and this was easily one of the best I've ever had. Super super slow service. Our reservation was at 6:15 got here at 6pm Had to wait 30+ minutes to be seated. Finally got seated at 7pm Waited forever!!! For water. We put our salad and food order with our appetizer 20 minutes later we get our appetizer 30 minutes later we get told they ran out of caesar salad.. so we get the lobster bisque 15 ish minutes it come out. Not even hot it was room temp.. disappointing. Our waitress barely checked on us. We finally get our entree at 8:30pm I'm sorry but that's just way too damn long. I work at a restaurant so I know and this isn't the waiters fault it's the kitchen. The chef and the kitchen team has to get on it cause this is really embarrassing. I got the Cajun grill it comes with steak, sausage shrimp and mash potatoes Shrimp was over cooked. Sausage was ok. Steak was dry. Mash potatoes was good. The rest of the party got two turkey dinners. The picture that the restaurant has online was completely different than what they got served. They didn't get gravy or cranberry relish. We waited to get our servers attention to order some..while we noticed every table around us had what was supposed to come with their plate. Side of gravy and the cranberry relish...I'm not sure if our server disliked us or didn't care about her job ?!? l will start by staying that unfortunately I am food snob and that my son in an executive chef at a top 100 restaurant by Open Table. And I will also state that I did not returned/request new plates. Furthermore, I will give a tad of grace based on the fact that it's Christmas Eve and the kitchen staff really had preferred to be anywhere other than working. So with all that said-- I must say the food was mediocre at best. I would not have called the NY strip actually a steak. I've had lower expectations on the road at a Waffle House with better results. The Mashed Potatoes were warm to the point, that it couldn't melt the pad of butter. Lobster was over cooked to the point of dry. The good news is that the wine, as well as the appetizers were excellent. Server was good but over tabled. All-in-all it's not worth the price. I would not go back. read more

We went in as a group of 8 plus a toddler in a high chair today for a late lunch, and we had a phenomenal time!! Our server Jolean was fantastic and made the experience so enjoyable. Everyone loved their meals, the bread is so fresh, and you cannot leave without trying the peanut butter cup or crème brûlée desserts. The manager Jimmy had incredible wine recommendations too.
