We decide to come to Ruth's as we have never been together. I made same day reservations for a Saturday at 8pm. We arrived about 5 mins before 8, the hostess did not really greet us ..just said "what I can I do for you?" He said it would let us know when our table was ready. I observed his interaction and he did at least say Hi to the the next guest that approached the table. A few ladies joined him and they were way more enthusiastic and welcoming than the initial guy. He shouldn't be in the front if he is not warm and inviting. Moving on, we were seated about 10mins after arrival. They seemed busy but everything moved along well until we were done eating and waiting on the bill. That took sometime. Drinks - this was probably the best tasting thing we had. We had a classic lemon drop and a blood orange lemon drop. 10/10. It was really good!! And I'm a lemon drop girly. Apps- we had the firecracker shrimp (I think that's the name but it's basically bang bang shrimp) and the stuffed mushrooms. Absolutely zero flavor for the mushrooms. The shrimp was as expected. Entrees- stuffed chicken and mashed potatoes were decent. Mashed potatoes were nice and fluffy just needed a dash of salt. I got the Filet with the blue cheese crust. That was the absolute worst blue cheese crust I ever tasted! It's like a mini pad of blue cheese smashed together and fried and placed on top...I would never order that again. The shrimp on the steak were nice and big. The filet it self was mediocre . No flavor, no moisture but was cooked to correct temp (medium). The Brussels sprouts were decent. Dessert- cheesecake was ok. Overall- I was not super impressed and probably why I haven't been in years. No rush to return fast unless I'm dropping in for happy hour for another drink! read more

Amateur hour at premium prices. I've eaten at enough steakhouses to know what this price point is supposed to feel like. This was NOT it. Our server, bless her, was out of her depth from the start. She had no idea if happy hour was running (it was), no grasp of the menu and rushed us through ordering like we were holding up the line at McDonalds. At a high-end steakhouse, that's a training/management failure and they set this poor woman up to fail. I ordered an old fashioned and it came served over crushed ice. Taste? Average. But getting crushed ice instead of a proper large rock in 2026 is borderline inexcusable. I'd accept that at Texas Roadhouse, not Ruth's Chris. The $150 tomahawk was supposed to be the highlight. Instead, it arrived on a platter accompanied by four empty plates. The person who carved the steak was the manager which is ironic since she's supposed to be overseeing restaurant quality. Instead of being sliced evenly, it was sliced into 8 or so random chunks and sloppily distributed onto our plates with zero fanning, zero presentation, and zero plan. For an expensive steak where the table-side ritual is half the point, they literally and figuratively butchered it. The beef itself? Fine. Completely forgettable. Then came the grand finale: I reviewed a ~$380 check, handed over my card, and was subsequently charged ~$402 on a completely different mystery check I never saw, complete with a phantom cup of coffee we never ordered. Twentyish dollars isn't the point and the bill was rectified; charging a total I never approved is. I've been handed wrong bills before, but usually before my card is swiped. Nothing catastrophic happened. That's actually the problem. At these prices, everything should feel effortless, but instead, it was just a series of expensive facepalms. Service and ambiance isn't what it used to be. Our last visit was a bit disappointing. For our reservation, we were placed in the middle of the crowded dining room. It's just not very special for a date night when we rarely get out due to a baby at home. The Christmas music was pretty loud and lots of waitstaff kept bumping into our table and also asking to borrow chairs, only to bring them back to the table. This led to more fast-casual vibes rather than "fine" dining. Our server was overall very cordial and attentive. We did have a first course salad mishap. Our salad didn't arrive as ordered (no raw red onion and blue cheese on the side), and they continued to make it wrong the next two times. First time - still had raw onions, no dressing. Second time - now raw onions but still incorporated blue cheese, and also no dressing. Third time - had to request dressing to mix it myself table-side. We were baffled how a simple request could've gone so sideways after making this same order countless times over the years. We did let the manager know but received a disappointing response. "Oh yeah, I heard about that." Ok...but did anyone make it right? Nope. The rest of the meal was solid. Our server checked for the correct doneness of both our steaks - a filet and strip. This is our go to steakhouse on the northside. Located in the Ironworks compound on 86th street. Valet and self serve parking that expands 2 lots across an interior drive if needed. We went here to celebrate a new job and the holidays. I just checked my Open Table account and the date was Dec. 26th. I feel the restaurant should have been in "holiday" mode. Meaning extra staff for the busy season. We were seated in the main dining area right by the entrance. Our server was so slow, two others had to come and check in on us throughout the meal, a side dish was forgotten and we had to wait with with dishes removed for over 15 minutes before we received our bill. Was the food just as good as always? Yes. The mashed potatoes were on point and you could taste the butter in every bit. The steak was sizzling and the hashbrowns were crispy. We've been coming to this Ruth's since it opened and I pretty much get the same thing every time. Filet Oscar or a New York strip with béarnaise sauce. I'm not sure if it's always been an oversight but I've never been charged for the tiny ramekan of béarnaise before. This was the first time and it was 5.00. This review is a combination of great food and mediocre service which was a huge surprise to us and why I'm giving 4 stars. Staff was great! Ambiance was great as well. Started with 2 delicious cocktails, the fiery Penelope smash and the oh honey, I recommend both. The freshly baked bread with butter to start, then the amazing salads followed by the steaks! I ordered the 11oz filet which was nice because most restaurants only have 8oz . It was good but there was a lot of juice on the plate from them finishing in the oven that I didn't care for . Both were cooked to a perfect medium and good seasoning For the sides I had the fries with ranch, they definitely were wimpy and needed to be cooked a little longer, the au gratin potatoes were good though. My husband and I had a wonderful time dining here on February 13th. We had reservations for 8:45pm, and upon arrival, we were initially taken to a freestanding table in the middle of the bar area. We are not a fan of this sort of seating arrangement and began to regret not making a special request for specific seating when we made our reservation online. We were happy that they were able to seat us in a booth in Nicholas' section. The bar was very lively with several guests attending a celebration of someone's birthday, so we asked if the curtains to our booth could be drawn. Best idea ever! Instantly, it was like we were dining in our own little fort! So fun. We ordered drinks and enjoyed them along with the super-soft, complimentary bread & butter. We chose to go with the Valentine's Feature and upgraded to the lobster tail for our Surf & Turf entree. We also paid an uncharge of $6 each to get carrot cake rather than the flourless chocolate cake listed. We love their carrot cake! The meal was amazing and we took so much food home. We probably shouldn't have ordered those Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail on top of the already filling menu! The steak, which we ordered butterflied and medium, was so juicy; and that lobster tail was the best I've ever had. It was melt-in-your-mouth succulent. Nick provided great service. He was attentive without being intrusive and he checked in on us the perfect amount of times. We never found ourselves wondering where he was or wanting for anything. If I go to Ruth's Chris, it will be this location. I came here for an impromptu date night last week, and while we had reservations, we decided to sit at the bar instead. Sometimes you just want that bar top vibe! We got instant service from a longtime bartender at this location. He had never been my server, but I remembered seeing him over the years. Right when he came over to take our drink order, he mentioned I looked like a lemon drop girl. I told him I'd actually like a blood orange martini, and my fiancé ordered an Old Fashioned. The bartender came back and, indeed, gave me a lemon drop martini. So, that was weird. Shockingly, I tried to drink it but it was entirely too sweet, so I got a glass of wine instead. Still don't know what happened to the blood orange. Dinner was great. I got a filet with truffle parm crust, and my fiancé got the seasonal salmon. However, as an African American, I advise others like me to steer clear--there's a clear bias. We went here last night for our monthly CICAACN meeting. Service was great. They brought out bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms for the appetizer. Then they brought out giant individual salads. I'd prefer ranch but they used a house vinaigrette and it was okay. For our entrees we had a choice of salmon, stuffed chicken breast or New York strip. I got the strip and it was full of flavor. Sides were mashed potatoes and broccoli. And for dessert it was mini bread pudding and cheesecake. Our group goes here regularly and it never disappoints. This review is pertaining to a corporate event. We had our department holiday party at Ruth's Chris today. We had 78 people attend and all thoroughly enjoyed the event. We were upstairs in one of the private event spaces - I cannot remember specifically the room but it began with a B. There was a private bar in the space which was nice as we were able to have a cocktail welcome as people arrived and mingle together before we sat down to dinner. I was involved in the planning of the event, and the communication with the event team was wonderful. The options for dinner were great, we were able to have a menu for guests to choose from while there rather than having to get meal choices with the RSVPs which is always a hassle. We had a choice of steak, chicken or salmon, and the sides were family style in regular Ruth's Chris fashion. We also had appetizers, salad, bread and dessert. Myself and the planning team were able to access the space early to add some details to the tables which were already beautiful decorated for the holidays. I will absolutely be booking Ruth's Chris for more corporate events in the future. read more

I had never been to Ruth Chris Steak House for dinner, so when a friend offered to set up a dinner for a group of us for Devour Indy, I could not say no. The Devour Indy menu was a three course meal for $50-$60 depending on whether you decided to upgrade or not. The ambiance was very classy and upscale, like I knew Ruth Chris Steak House would be, so it didn't disappoint me at all. We were surprised to be put in a private room off to the left of the restaurant for our group, so it was a nice touch for our dining experience. The service was extremely first class all the way. Our server was impeccable and did a wonderful job taking care of our group. The wait staff were on top of everything and we were treated like royalty. It was pure heaven!! I choose the Devour Indy menu for dinner. My first course was the Caesar salad; the second course was the 6 oz steak fillet with steamed broccoli; and the third course ended with banana cream pie. Everything was as wonderful and fantastic as I knew it would be! The steak fillet was cooked to perfection, as well as the steamed broccoli. The Caesar salad was extremely fresh and delicious. The banana cream pie was one of the best desserts I have ever had in quite a while. Ruth's Chris Steak House was as high scale as I thought it would be and it definitely met my expectations. I'm a little late on my review, but I was so impressed with the food and experience. My wife has ARFID, so I was concerned that she wouldn't like it, but to my surprise, she LOVED it! I was recently here for a women's event. It was my first visit to the north side location. The ambience is amazing. Some of the photos are a bit contradictive from the dress code, but it was still a very beautiful space. We were in the event area, which was a huge space. We had chicken (which was absolutely amazing and full of flavor) along with potatoes and broccoli. This actually made 2 meals for me. Staff were very prompt and knowledgeable about gluten free. I got at least 8 messages asking that we confirm our reservation Upon arriving we were immediately greeted and taken to a funky table in the bar area. Table was seated for 4. We were not happy at our table because we were in the bar with TV, people eating bar food and we were looking right at their backsides. Not a good view for a romantic night out It took over 18 minutes to be greeted by our server. It was necessary for her to reach over us and clear the table settings for two. Once done she asked if we wanted bread and water. Left to get it. About 10 minutes later came back for drink order. Another 10 minutes we get our wine and dinner order is placed Chop salad came immediately. Then our steaks. All in a matter of minutes. Almost two fast as we had just received our drinks The food was excellent. Our steaks were perfect No one checked back with us. People at the bar were talking to us as there was no privacy We ordered dessert and she brought an extra piece of cake, just because. Left the check and that was the last we saw of her. Our waitress, Anne, was very informative since it was our first visit. As a woman, I loved the cleanliness and sleek look of the restrooms. Ruth's Chris is one of my all time favorites places to go. The ambiance is excellent and the service is always A+. I made reservations so we didn't have to wait when we arrived. I was upset that our booth was by the bar because it felt like during the commercial break of the game, the patrons at the bar just looked over at us while they waited for the game to come back on. The server was nice enough to close the curtains for the booth and we were completely alone enjoying dinner!! I definitely tipped him extra for that gesture. Service at every RC is top notch including this location. I dine here once or twice a year and it's always a treat. I no longer can eat gluten so sadly can't eat my favorite thing on the menu anymore and that is hands down the bread pudding. Bar area has the best ambiance. Dislike being seated on the second level. It's not cozy at all and less intimate feeling than the first floor. I can't say this is five stars because to me it is just another steakhouse... nothing out of the ordinary but also it ain't no Outback. I've only eaten here 2 times. The first time, about 10 months ago was a 5-star visit. But tonight's visit will need to stretch to make it to 3-stars. The saving grace tonight was the food. It was excellent!! Kudos to the chef(s)! Plus, the food came quickly. Luckily, it wasn't super busy. Most people must have been out too late last night for NYE. The rest of our visit? Well. First, why is there a table that faces the restrooms to the point that whenever someone opens the mens room door, depending on their spot at the table, a diner can see straight into the restroom? Guess who got that spot!!! Yep, me. After being seated at that unique piece of dining real estate, we were awarded with more than enough time to go over the food AND drink menus in depth, make our decisions...and some of us even changed our minds! In fact we were given so much time, we had to interrupt the casual conversation of 2 passing staff members for some water to start off our meal. Once our server appeared and took the order, things went better since the food was the highlight of the experience. (I mean, when the alternative is watching people walk into the restroom, that's not saying much, but seriously, the food was delicious.) As we ate there was a server who was quite loud with other tables. We were able to easily overhear several of their conversations without effort. First things first one step in and you feel you are transported to a very royal, classy place. Then the service was so quick and easy! The food was a fixed menu but my salmon and even the mashed potatoes were to die for. The icing on the cake was the dessert which was swoon worthy chocolate mousse and delicious rich cheesecake. Our experience was mixed. I ordered a t-bone and it was cooked as ordered. However, my partner ordered a New York strip steak. He originally received a steak without a bone (he ordered bone-in), also he ordered medium well and his steak was well done. As expected they apologized and brought him a second steak, bone-in, cooked medium well but he said it didn't have the flavor. They compensated with comping the appetizer and providing a free dessert-however-a steak restaurant ought to get steaks correct. We had reservations here for a couple birthdays we were celebrating (total of 7 people) and they had set our table up in the bar without confirming everyone was over 21 until after we arrived. It ended up working out ok but personally I would have preferred to be in the dining room. Maybe this was our mistake and we should have specified when making the reservation, but it would have been nice if they would have asked if we had a preference when making the reservation. Our server was great and very attentive to our table, keeping the glasses full and checking on us. The food sadly was just mediocre, we ordered a variety of things and nothing stood out as being amazing. For the price and the advertisement of being fine dining I was actually pretty disappointed. Ruth Chris is a a family favorite! Every time we go, we're not disappointed. We are made to feel so prioritized and special when we are there! The food is exceptional! The steak is tender and had a great caramelized crust. I always get the ribeye, it's my favorite cut there, it's done exceptionally! The berries and cream is so tasty, and sweet end to the savory dinner. The corn has pops of sweetness and spice from the peppers. The tables, the decor, and ambiance is giving smooth night out. It has been a long time since I've been to a Ruth's Chris. I started decades ago with two of their New Orleans area establishments and immediately falling in love with their steaks. I continued dining at the Columbus, OH location as a regular patron for several years. But more recently, I have visited the Phoenix/Scottsdale location and downtown Indy. This visit was a pure spur of the moment decision. I was parking for Verde and decided last minute to treat my granddaughter to the Ruth's Chris experience. For novices and since they don't ask you to do it anymore, you're supposed to hold your napkin up to cover yourself so the sizzling butter doesn't splatter on your clothing. I've never seen this in any other restaurant because no one else does their pressure cooker style of cooking of a steak. We both had the Petite Filet with the Grilled Shrimp and chose Au Gratin Potatoes plus the Steamed Broccoli for our sides. For dessert we both went with the Cheesecake; hers with berries, mine with just the raspberry sauce. A classic meal at a renowned restaurant famous across the USA. It was extremely delicious and tasted like everything I remembered. The only thing I skipped today was my usual shrimp cocktail appetizer in order to have more room for steak and a glass of wine. I was going to be driving in rush hour traffic afterwards. My granddaughter enjoyed the "crumb catcher" service after the meal. There was plenty of parking available in the shared parking lot for the entire building but complimentary valet parking is available if you desire. The old standby! If it's meat you crave, you can't go wrong with this wonderful restaurant. We met friends there for an enchanted experience. The restaurant was geared in all decor for the holidays, and the dining room was packed, yet there were no people waiting to be seated. We started with a bottle of wine, Post and Beam, which was a rich and robust Cabernet at the suggestion of our friend. It didn't disappoint. Next we were served appetizers: the Lobster Voodoo and the Seared Ahi Tuna. Both were perfectly executed and delicious! When we selected entrees, I was thinking to select from the Ruth's classics menu, but I have always been a ribeye fan, loving the mixture of fat and meat so that was what I chose. Although the meat had been cooked perfectly and to my liking, it was slightly tough and chewy. I had a difficult time believing it was prime meat. And this is the sole reason that kept me from giving them 5 stars. My husband ordered the same and he said the exact same thing when we got home and compared notes. The best food chain ever. Doesn't feel like a chain, you can go for a casual meal for no special reason or celebrate a milestone. Service has always been exceptional. Steaks are on par with much more expensive restaurants and the crab cakes are the best, would go there for those alone. read more
