Lately my family and I have been going to different restaurants every other weekend, this weekends restaurant pick was a bit different because we were celebrating our dad's birthday. Ocean Prime was a perfect place to have this dinner. I wanted my father in law to not only feel special, but know that we appreciate him for everything that he does for us! The outside of the building was amazing love the way it lights up blue very eye catching! They also offer valet here as well! This fine dining had dimmed lights with music playing in the background. The server Daniel was very attentive and very helpful, my in laws speak Spanish and Daniel was bilingual so that was very nice to have. He came with a boatload of information about the items we asked about on the menu as well as the specials that they were having that night. We ordered our food and believed we only waited 15/20 mins and the food arrived. Everything ordered was very delicious and we did not have any complaints. After we got the food the manager came over and checked on us to make sure everything was going great for us! At the end of the meal they offered my father-in-law a dessert on the house and I thought that was very nice! Service Very slow service. We waited a long time between courses. There was hair in my salmon, that I found in the first bite, so I sent it back. Didn't want another one. The drinks were watery. Service - Superb!! Had a chance to speak with one of the managers, Jason, who took the time to stop by our table. Our servers, Joe, who assisted Blake, were a great team. The check-ins were timed perfectly!! Food - We opted for the Devour Menu with a couple of added sides. We tried the house salad & French onion soup for our appetizers. The soup was very flavorful. The salad was flavorful as well. The sherry walnut vinaigrette had a nice memorable kick. For our entrees, we had the 8 oz filet w/Gouda potato cake and a dash of sautéed spinach. Not a fan of the Gouda potato cake and would have preferred a bit more spinach. We also tried the Teriyaki Salmon w/sticky jasmine rice. Mmmm, this was sooo good! The salmon was cooked perfect! For sides, we tried the asparagus w/hollandaise sauce and a loaded baked potato. The asparagus were pretty big; bigger than what we're use to eating. But was cooked to perfection and had the right amount of salt. The loaded potato could have been more moist. It seemed a bit dry. I personally like for my potatoes to be moist and the toppings melting with the potato. For dessert, we both opted for the carrot cake that was adorned with a pineapple sauce that wasn't too much. I personally ate my cake without the sauce. Ambiance - We were seated in the Keystone Room. Although we weren't technically celebrating anything special except Devour, we were amongst other couples who were celebrating their anniversaries. The room was just big enough for an intimate, yet laid back setting. You could hear the small chatter & laughter between the other couples that was just the right compliment to our dining experience. I can't believe we haven't tried this place before! It's fantastic. First off, the service is impeccable from the moment you walk in. Everyone was friendly and attentive. They also offer complimentary valet parking. They start off with bread that includes a few soft pretzels. Good stuff. We had the deviled eggs with truffle and caviar appetizer and it was awesome. An unexpectedly delicious combination. The lobster bisque is served with a bowl of giant lobster meat and then the server pours the soup on top of it. It the best lobster bisque I've ever had and had way more lobster flavor than the typical way it's served. I had the bone in filet which was perfectly prepared and my wife had sea scallops, again, perfectly prepared. Our side was the jalapeño scalloped potatoes. Everyone's fillet was cooked just how they ordered it so that is always a plus because one steak not prepared properly ruins the dinner.I ordered the Florida grouper on-top of lobster gnocchi. This was delicious as well but eat it while it is hot and, there was tons of lobster pieces with yummy broth and melt in your mouth soft gnocchi, all together made an excellent bite. *Long review ahead * This place was pretty good. Some dishes were better to me than others but overall I'd go back again. To start off with- as we entered we were kindly greeted by the hostess. Who then told us to wait a few minutes as they were getting our table ready. The other host asked to coat check other guests coats but skipped over us which I found a little odd. It would have been nice if he asked me and my fiancé to coat check ours as well but whatever. We finally get sat and we're greeted by a server assistant and later our server. He was very kind and ran through the specials. We put in our drink order and I got the berries & bubbly to start with. My fiancé ordered lobster bisque and I got half a dozen oysters. Both were great. Then as an entree I ordered the surf & surf- scallops and lobster. With a side of parm truffle fries because they're my favorite. I can't remember what fish exactly my fiancé ordered but it was delicious as well. I will say I wasn't a fan of the peas and carrots that were served with my entree.. but the seafood itself was fabulous. I ordered an after dinner espresso martini with cream which was delicious and my fiancé got an old fashioned which was equally as great. All in all I'd definitely come back and order the things I did enjoy from the menu. Maybe trying a different entree without the peas and carrots. The lobster bisque, oysters, and my espresso martini were the stars of the show for sure. We shared four sides. The creamed spinach had some magical seasoning that got my non-spinach eater to ask for a doggy bag. The Gouda tatertotts were perfect. The surf and turf was ok, scallops were great but the beef was boring. The lobster Mac n cheese had a generous portion of oh so yummy lobster. I had the seared tuna and it was perfect. Very warm greeting when we walked in from the young ladies at the host stand. We were taken to a booth which I totally prefer. Interior is dark, very dark. They offer sparkling, bottled and tap water. People that have watched the movie "The Ugly Truth" know that tap water is just as good as bottled since restaurants are suppose to filter their water. We ordered a Caesar salad to split. My dinner was an 8oz Filet with a butter poached lobster tail. Steak was served on top of a gouda potato cake and some spinach. The steak was good. Gouda potato cake had too much onion. Spinach had some heat to it. Lobster tail was served out of the shell and it was a tiny amount, although very good. Husband got 10 oz filet and he like it well enough. We shared gouda tater tots and black truffle Mac n cheese. Too much onion in the tater tots. We only ate one between us. The black truffle mac n cheese could have been amazing had they held back on the garlic. WOW it kept the vampires away lastnight. During our meal we could hear competing music coming from somewhere. The first time there I ordered the lobster bisque soup and salmon entree. So yummy, fish made a perfect medium, seasoned very well. Ocean Prime got a new #1 fan! We had a spectacular Yelp event that was planned during Devour and OP executed the food and Bourbon tasting FLAWLESSLY! There were four types of Woodford Reserve Bourbons to sample throughout our four course meal. They also started us off a perfectly executed Manhattan which included a monogrammed ice cube and that incredible luxardo cherry. That's really how I judge a Manhattan. Using a Maraschino is disgraceful! (: The salad that the chef prepared for us was one of the best salads I've ever had. I could eat that every day for the rest of my life. What a delightful surprise!! Ocean Prime-it was great and I'll definitely be back. Where do I start?? 1. They have complimentary valet which is nice; especially as the weather gets a little more colder. Just don't forget to tip your valet. 2. The entry was is so chic and welcoming. Great spot for photo ops while you're either waiting for your table or the rest of your party to arrive. 3. The hostesses were delightful. Everyone had smiles on their faces and greeted us very pleasantly. Welcomed us in and wished me a happy birthday, which was sweet. Sometimes hosts and hostesses can be a bit pretentious at restaurants that are a little more expensive, but these young ladies were not. 4. The ambiance is beautiful-romantic without overdoing it. Their booths would provide a little more romance if you need a little more intimacy if you a little more quiet space. They have a Prime room (I forgot a picture). Typically held for private groups, tonight it was open to the public. It's very nice. There was a fireplace in there and it was a beautiful layout. I'll ask to be seated there next time if it's open. 5. Our service was great. Here at Ocean Prime, you have a server and an assistant. Both were great. Drinks were filled pretty promptly. I will say (not towards our server but) I would have passed if I had known a Fiji water was $6.50! No offense. I love Fiji water-just not that much. Other than that, prices were what I expected. You're gonna spend at least $50/pp not necessarily counting appetizers/soup/salad. This will definitely be a special occasion place for us. 7. The food was delicious. We had the surf n turf appetizer: which comes with braised short ribs and scallops over mashed potatoes (you could almost have it as an entree). I was a little skeptical but it works. The gravy they put over the ribs and mashed potatoes really paired well w/both the short rib and the scallops. Our friends had the white truffle deviled eggs and shared with us. I liked them. The filling was a little tart for how I like mine, but they were still good. For my entree, I had the crab cakes-yummy. Hubby had the sea scallops over risotto-also delicious. We do usually like a more creamy risotto but it was still good. Friend 1 had the teriyaki salmon. She let us try and it was delicious. Friend 2 had a steak. Everyone was satisfied and pleased with their good. Plates came out in a timely fashion and our time was great. This was my first time here and it was a nice place to celebrate my birthday.
