We had a huge tree split and part of it fell on our property . It was 80 feet tall and 25 feet around. The team of workers were absolutely amazing . They got the tree cut down (the part that didn't fall) and carried it out to the street to run in through the chipper. The tree filled two full box trucks with chipped wood., I don't think these young men who work here have a slow mode. They were picking up those logs and running them out to the chipper, their work ethic was just fantastic. Anyway, I can't say enough about this business I would recommend them fully with 10 stars. read more

Proficient Tree Care removed three large pine trees from our back yard. One of them was extremely huge, on a hillside just above our house. They did an awesome job! And they cleaned up extremely well. It seems to be a newer company, but they definitely knew what they were doing and how to handle such a difficult project. They also had the man power to deal with it - all the wood had to be carried down the hill, along a narrow passage way at the side of the house, and out to the street. They are also fully insured. Their price was very competitive, which was the reason why we did not choose one of the more well known companies. I highly recommend them! read more

Avoid this company, or get their bids in writing. Found their business card in my mailbox, and I happened to be in need of some tree removal. Called and talked to Manuel, who came out and gave a same day estimate. Initially estimated $1700 for 5 privacy shrub/trees with stump grinding. I said I would get more bids and be back in touch. He then said $1500, no $1300 give me a really good deal. I said including stump grinding, he said "yeah yeah, we can start tomorrow." Looked up their contractor license information, seemed legit. I asked to be in contact with past clients. He said sure, but never provided any past client contact information (and I now see why). I called in the afternoon, confirmed $1300 with stump grinding, he said we will be out in the morning. What time? "In the morning." WHAT TIME? "In the morning." Um, 8? 10? when... "8". No show at 8...9...10... I call Manuel. "Oh yeah, sorry man, my crew is on the way!" From Concord? "Yeah." but the crew magically appears in Napa 10 minutes later. The crew makes short work of the trees, they were fast and didn't damage any of the backyard. I had my girlfriend put me on speaker with the foreman, as I was concerned with the pool piping near some of the stumps and wanted them pointed out for avoiding... the foreman said another guy does the stump grinding and they left... Manuel called me right away, claiming now that stump grinding was always the $1700 price, not the $1300 price. Unfortunately my girlfriend already paid the crew. He also NOW offered to have me talk to past clients, as if I need that now... I recommend avoiding this company. Manuel is a poor communicator, and I feel scammed. Shame on me for not getting bids in writing, but that is the lesson to be learned to avoid conflicting agreements made only over the phone with shady vendors. 2 stars because the actual crew worked well. read more

Manuel kept making appointments to come by to give estimate. He was a NO show 3 times. Each time we waited hours for him to come by. I let him pick the time and he never came by, waste of my time. Highly disappointed, he blamed his dad the first time he didn't come by, he is full of excuses!!! read more

I would recommend you to use someone else. They left my yard a mess. Broke a vase of my outside fireplace. Killed a rose Tree. They left the house without telling us and when we contacted them, the secretary stated that the owner would get in contact with us. He never did. They are expensive and not worth the money! read more

I have used them twice for my yard in Green Valley, when they happened to be pruning my neighbors trees not realizing that they are from Concord which is where my Landscaping Business is. I had PTC trim a large hackberry tree hanging over my roof solar panels and cut down a medium size cedar tree in my back yard. I thought the price was fair and I'm pleased with the work they completed. They did a good job of cleaning up the debris after the work was done. I would solicit a quote from PTC again. read more

I wish I could give them 10 stars. We had such a great experience with the guys from Proficient. Every aspect was flawless. We had a tight timeline and they were prompt on getting us the bid, responding to questions and completeling the work. Our property was protected and respected and the guys did a great job. It was a big job, too! They removed four very tall dead/dying trees from the side of a steep hill. Overall we were impressed and grateful for a good job at a more than fair price. AVOID these guys! Not only poor customer service, they overbid, don't get things in writing, and they do a rookie job on trimming. Anyone can just hack things down and grind them...trimming trees in a healthy way is another story. Guys show up, two of them goof off and make jokes while one guy actually works. Can't say enough good things. - Yelp states they have verified their license (one review is questioning that they have one) - Their office sent me a signed copy of their insurance policy prior to them starting work. ($2 million aggregate coverage, $1 million per occurrence) - I received 5 official offers. Proficient Tree Care was tied with one other for lowest of all offers without us giving them any price feedback. - Job involved taking down three (3) 50' large pine trees that were about 48 years old (I counted the rings on one of the stumps). - Two were in between me and my neighbors house which are only 20' or so apart, and my house has multiple windows facing the trees. No damage was done at all to our homes, yards, roofs. They took extreme care with every large branch - I was home for about 75% of the time the work was done and watched carefully. They had excellent control of lowering even the largest ones down via a rope pulley system. - They removed some string lighting for me prior to starting and replaced it when they were done. - One large stump was right along the fence line and they cut it down super low upon request for no charge. - Clean-up was great. My backyard was left cleaner than when they started. read more

Busted out the work, no damage to anything, clean up was great. Would recommend. They even trimmed up a couple neighbors tree before leaving and mulched up a Christmas tree. Manuel was walking our neighborhood leaving his cards when he asked if I needed any tree work done. I asked for a quote for removing a tree. He provided it on the spot and then said he could get started a couple of days later. He said the job would take one day. I looked up his license and reviews and everything seemed to be in good standing. I decided to move forward. The job was done in a day and a half. Manuel wasn't on site the whole time, but I was able to communicate concerns reasonably enough through his crew. The quoted price was raised $500 at the start of the job with an apology and explanation. Not good practice but I wanted the work done and the additional cost was still reasonable for the size of the job, in my opinion. The crew let my husband know that there was likely to be some damage to our yard due to where the tree was and how they would bring it down. I felt this kind of gave the crew permission to trample my garden, which they did. They also damaged our neighbors gutter and fence, which they fixed and compensated my neighbor for. I really like Manuel and his crew knew what they were doing. I'm only giving them 4 stars because of the change in price from the quote. They were amazing, my husband and I reviewed with them what we wanted and what to be careful of and they did exactly what we wanted and more. They took down 4 trees, ( mostly dead tree's) . We even needed a large shrub to be trimmed back, ( not part of our quote) and they did so. They were also the most reasonably priced. We live in Lakewood in WC and we had 5 quotes and they came in the most reasonable. The review before mine is as if he is reviewing another company?? Anyway, we were thrilled with them and their expertise and would refer them to anyone who needs trees cut down. Huge ash tree (18" dia/40 ft) was dropping limbs and posed a risk to our neighbor's roof. Proficient Tree Care got back to me within an hour of calling their office, and came by the next day for a free quote. After I reviewed their business license and insurance, they put me on the schedule for only three days later! A crew of five finished the job, including stump grinding, in one day. I watched from my security camera throughout the day, and they were very careful, especially with the big limbs that overhung my neighbor's roof. They had excellent rope control of the pieces, and their in-tree arborist was always harnessed and roped for safety. Literally tons of wood that filled TWO chipper trucks, but when I came home, there was not a leaf or chip on the driveway. Everything had been blown, raked and collected. PGE/811 had found and marked my gas and electric directly adjacent to the trunk (only inches away). One manager handled the stump grinding personally, with no damage to my utilities only 12" below the bottom of the grind. Even my decorative plant right next to where the trunk had stood was undamaged. Count me impressed! read more

We received Manuel's number from a neighbor. We had always admired how their large trees were pruned...airy, balanced and beautiful. Manuel came out quickly and gave us a quote and suggested keeping some trees we thought might be better removed. The team showed up as promised and at one point we had 4 guys up in the trees! They worked hard pruning, chipping and cleaned up after a very long day. We now have beautfully cared for trees, roots removed from old stumps, a cabled redwood and a open, airy set of mature trees. We had a very large dead pine tree that needed removal. A neighbor saw Proficient Tree Care working nearby and contacted them for some work on his own property. He was pleased with their work and gave us their business card. Proficient came out and gave us an extremely reasonable quote for our work and said they could start the next week. They assured us that they were licensed and went on and on about their "umbrella" insurance coverage. By the end of the day they emailed us the quote and included their license number. Practicing due diligence we checked the license number and discovered that it did not exist. I responded to their email and asked for references and a copy of the license. They did not reply. A couple days later I called them and left a message asking that they call back. We never heard from them again. It is apparent that this outfit is unlicensed and if they lied about that they probably also lied about being insured. If we are mistaken Proficient can contact us and set the record straight. We'd be happy to correct this review. read more
