We had to get a permit to remove a cypress tree inbetween our houses. After we selected Hamilton, a member of their team came out to scope out the Jobsite, took some videos. By the time the permit went through the city process Hamilton was ready to hit the ground running. They worked with surgical precision, chain sawing sections and loading them on a truck for disposal. Each section from beginning to the last section of the tree truck were removed without a scratch to the nearby fence or our bathroom windows. Total professional!!! I just have to start by saying, one of the most professional companies we've worked with during our remodel. They came and took out a liquid amber tree in our front yard, having access the neighbors driveway and it was gone before we knew it. Very, very professional and made sure to ask us about any concerns they had with the tree removal and stump,root grinding. All you need to know is: These guys are the best! I know I sound like a 'Gushing Gloria' but I am so happy with the job they did, I'd give them more stars if I could! We had a tree emergency. We had a 70 to 80ft tree very close to our house that split in two and we were afraid it would fall on our house. We called and they were at the front door in 10 minutes. (They happened to be nearby so don't get your knickers in a twist if they don't show up at your place that quick). They weren't able to get to it till the following morning but came over that same day and topped off the heavy part and roped it to another tree to prevent it from falling overnight and they showed up early the next morning to remove it. The owner said they even pulled some crew from other jobs in order to deal with our emergency. Is that impressive or what! How can anyone top that for great service!! We also asked them to trim our massive eucalyptus trees and they did a fantastic job! The crew and owner were all very efficient and experienced professionals as well as personable. On top of all that, they gave us the best quote. An 800 difference from another competitor. Another thing that's great about this company is that they have the machinery to tackle any size job, including the most challenging. Anyway, I am one satisfied customer and obviously, just can't say enough about them. They came to our help immediately, and took care of everything which we really appreciated. Words cannot describe how terrific this company is...but I'll sure try with this review. I have been using Hamilton Tree Service for the past ten years on several occasions. They had to remove a 100 ft. tall diseased Monterey Pine Tree that was essentially ready to fall and split my house in two. The folks at Hamilton came in with the best competitive price and unbelievable professionalism in handling this big job. The latest job involved removing hazardous branches from a large Juniper Tree that have been encroaching my rooftop. Again, they came in cleared what needed to be trimmed and took great care in doing so. Over the years, they are the crew to hire for maintaining/pruning trees in my backyard. I have two MASSIVE Oak Trees that require routine maintenance, and these guys do a first-rate job in making the proper cuts without damaging these legendary trees. Cutting down trees and trimming branches high in the air is not something you should have to do on your own. I know I sure don't. We contacted Grant at Hamilton Tree Service regarding a large Oak limb that had fallen across our driveway on July 5th. He came out within a few hours (on a holiday weekend, no less) and removed the limb so we could use our driveway. We then agreed for him to come back the following week to trim our four, 80' tall Oak trees for "hazard reduction"... and also remove a large Cedar tree from the property. He had a 5 man crew in our trees for 2 full days. We couldn't be happier with the results. Grant was very respectful of our concerns that the tree's retain their natural beauty. The Oak trees were properly trimmed and "lightened"... without looking at all "butchered". His crew was very professional and efficient, they showed up on time and cleaned up each day... when they were done they left our property cleaner than when they arrived. The tree's now look fantastic! (see attached photo). While it certainly wasn't cheap... we think the price was quite fair considering the size of the project and the quality of the work done. Patrick and his crew did a wonderful job taking down several trees and pruning others. He spent 2 days taking down 4 acacias, 1 eucalyptus, and 1 bay leaf tree, some of which required them to close down a lane and direct traffic. They also pruned several eucalyptus trees, a pine tree, and a couple plums. They were extremely punctual, responsive, and courteous throughout the whole process and had a genuine care for our satisfaction with the work. We also found them to be price competitive. I wish I could give these guys no star because they were so unprofessional! A couple of weeks ago I called Hamilton Tree Service because I notice one of the very large limbs on the Elm tree in my backyard had split and was starting to crack! This large limb hung over the fence and I didn't want the branch to break and damage my fence! I called Hamilton Tree service and left a message. My called was promptly returned and after explaining what was happening, I was told they could not come out till Monday. I told them I would keep my fingers crossed that the limb wouldn't break and I made the appointment! Well, it rained that Saturday and the limb broke and damaged my fence! Eight A.M, Monday morning, I called Hamilton Tree Service and explained that the limb had broken, but I still needed them to come out and dispose of the limb. I was told, "No Problem"! I was also told that the crew would be notified and I would be getting a call! At 10:52 A.M, I received a call from an unknown person from Hamilton Tree Service and I, again, explained what happened with the limb! The guy said, "OK, I'm on my way"! I was notified at noon that "the crew" had not arrived, but I gave them the benefit-of-the-doubt because it was lunch time! At almost 3 P.M, I was again notified that "the crew" still had not arrived! I called the cell phone number and spoke to the same person who'd told me he "was on his way". I told him who I was and he remembered, but then told me quote: "I did not tell you I was on my way! I suggest you call someone else"! WHAAATTT!!!!!!!! I made an appointment with your company, had someone wait ALL DAY, and at 3 P.M you suggest I call someone else!!!!! Damn Skippy I will!!!!! Don't waste your time with Hamilton Tree Service!!!! So I hired Hamilton to do a lot of work at my house early this year. Their estimate was very competitive and I felt that they did a great job. Our project included safety pruning of 5 very large (70 ft tall) cedar trees as well as removal of a cedar of the same size. My neighbors had another company trim their trees and they are completely butchered now - they will never recover. Our trees look natural and the real testament was during this windy/rainy winter. One afternoon the wind was especially strong and I went outside to see how the trees were handling it. I first looked at another neighbors trees which have not been safety pruned. They were swaying in the wind pretty seriously - it was a rather scary sight. My trees weren't moving at all. The safety pruning allowed the wind to move through the branches without pushing around the whole tree. They also chopped a lot of the wood into fire wood for me and stacked it neatly. I have continued to recommend them to others and will do so in the future. The support staff at the office, especially Fatima, was very helpful as well. read more

Hamilton did some pruning for and I was happy with the work. When three large oaks fell during storm a year ago I suggested Hamilton to the neighbors. That job was several thousand dollars and they took my advice. Later in the year another neighbor needed a job done and I suggested that we go with Hamilton as I needed some pruning done too. When they came out for the estimate they also met with me but never followed through for my work. I sent an email a week later an never heard from them. When we discussed the estimate I asked them to be careful with the property because I had another tree company damage my house by forcing branches through the gate. Perhaps they were offended by this or thought I would be a difficult customer. I found another company which did a good job. We arranged everything through a couple of emails with no hassle. My neighbors approached me recently. PG&E is forcing them to remove a very large oak. PG&E will subcontract a company to decimate the tree but my neighbors will have to hire someone to remove it. Some did not even bother to respond to my initial call! They were very professional came when they said they would with a small crew of 2 guys, did exactly what the estimator & I talked about. I also worked with them & got things done how I wanted & I accomplished so much little detail work myself. They did my whole yard front & back. Took down a BIG pine tree, trimmed 5 other big trees, took out 10 saplings that had grown from the root & trimmed all my hedges & bushes. They accomplished all this in one day. They were such hard workers that I gave them an extra tip for their excellent work. They did this all for much less than I expected & I will definitely use them again. This company did a GREAT job and for the best price. I had five large redwoods to remove from my yard. One of the tree's roots were growing under our house and causing some damage to our home. We wanted the work done quickly and Grant fit us in right away. I had three different tree companies give me a bid. Grant was the only one who brought up (and was knowledgable) about obtaining the proper permits. We needed them for two of the trees because they were 36+ inches in diameter and Grant was very helpful in that process. One of the other bids was his exact same price and he then knocked a bit more off his price. His company is also one of the few companies that owns a HUGE crane to get the work done more quickly and efficiently. And it was an amazing sight to see! Because of the crane work, large logs will be able to be repurposed and taken to a lumber yard, which is a win for the environment. His guys were professional and responsible. They did a great job on the work and were completely finished in 3 days (7 trees total were removed and some trimming). And as a total bonus we had a a lot of beautiful redwood mulch from grinding out the stumps and they spread it around our yard at no extra cost! It was like we got free new, landscaping. I have used Hamilton Tree service a couple of times to trim trees in my backyard. They are always competively priced or slightly lower than other companies. I trust their work and my trees always look great afterwards. I would recommend them if you need trimming or removal of trees, they are a company you can trust. Update: I had to have Hamilton come out and remove and tree and they did a really great job. We didn't have the stump removed so they cut it off nice and flat like we asked, even set our berry bush on top of the stump. I will continue to use Hamilton for all of my tree needs. read more

I bought a 3 acre lot and with LOTS of trees. Most of the oak trees were great, but some of the trees were put in by the previous owners and were sickly or were redwoods planted VERY close together. I called Hamilton Tree Service and they removed everything I needed and a few extra things I asked for when they were on site. They did an amazing job and got rid of the stumps too! Then, about half a year later, I had them come out and trim all the trees on the road to my property so the construction trucks would stop hitting them. After some initial scheduling snafus, work on removal of a 50 foot tall ash tree in my front yard was started today (5/4/17). Crew of 3 arrived on time and started the removal. Removal and stump grinding (required by city permit) took about 3.5 hours. The cleanup after was more than I expected, the city street, sidewalk and my driveway were swept and leaf blowers were used as the final step. You'd be hard pressed to know a large tree was once there. I dropped 1 star off my review due to the telephone tag that occurred trying to schedule the job. At first I was pleased with the cheerful office person that answered my first call. But after a month of trying to schedule an estimate, the surly president of the company came and told me to call someone else. He started off telling me I can't prune with the trees in my parkway without an expensive city permit and that the government owns all our trees and on and on. They said they would check with the guy and call back. 30 min later, received a call and told the guy was out on an emergency call. No worries. Reschedule 2nd appt- no show. I called after 15 mins. They said they would check with the guy and call me back. 20 min later, received a call and told the guy is still on another job. Okay, it's a Friday let's try again next week. Maybe a morning appt will be better. 3rd appt- no show again.I called after 20 mins. They said the guy should of been there. They would call him and call me back. 3 days later...still waiting. Per other reviews, I guess if they show up, they do a great job! I also had them remove some bushes and shrubs, for a very reasonable price. I was on a tight budget, but decided to go ahead and remove the trees now, and I'm so glad I contacted Hamilton Tree Service. They are affordable, responsive and their customer service is great. If I ever need another tree service, i would not hesitate to call Hamilton again. I highly recommend them. Update: I called Hamilton to come and cut the final trees down (i didnt have the money previously to do them all) and was told the prices had gone up. I wasnt upset, as the quote they gave me was from two years prior and never did they say the price was good indefinitely. I did change their review rate however, because Hamilton is slower to schedule (and more expensive) than Hercules Tree. So although I do think Hamilton is a great company, i had to go do 3 stars, since they are not as quick and cost more than another company. I saw Mike Hamilton's Ad for Firewood on craigslist. My order for a cord of hardwood delivered was market priced and delivered to my schedule. I was also able to charge the order on my CC although Mike says he does take checks. The load was well aged, perfectly sized and was a good mix of mostly oak with other hardwoods. Though it's not the perfect heating medium, I cant tell you how cool it is to be sitting on a cord of firewood, ready for any of these garbage cold temps climate change has in store for us. These guys are still in my front yard, working right up to dusk to complete what was probably intended to be a job 2 hours shorter. I don't know when next I will have occasion to call upon them, but they are the only tree trimmer in my book, and so they shall remain. First important distinction between them and the other service giving us an estimate was an obvious effort to apply conservative measures to our trees -- they wanted us to be happy, WITHOUT cutting the trees so severely that there wouldn't be symmetry, or balance, to the trimmed tree. While they were a bit off on their arrival estimate, it was unimportant to me; things happen that complicate jobs, and just as I would not want them to leave my job just to keep on schedule, I would not expect them to leave someone else's job prior to completion. They work as an efficient and serious team -- no lollygagging around for these fellows! The estimate was excellent -- we would not have chosen them just because they came in lower than others, but of course it's a happy circumstance. Anyway, Grant and his crew came to my house on multiple occasions to remove two large trees that were in danger on falling on the house. Excellent tree trimmers (wish I could give them a 10)!!!. We have a couple acres in the alhambra valley and they did a magnificent job shaping, pruning, advising, and beautifying our property. In addition, they removed mistletoe and branches will tons of nuts that were making a mess from our black walnuts. When they left, there wasn't so much a stray branch or leaf left behind. They cleaned up after themselves. Oh, and they sell mulch!!! Black,-Dark brown-natural/ mini-medium-large. We had some areas mulched and not only did they deliver in a pinch, but they spread it for us as well. Jaime and crew are awesome as are the owners of the company.
