We did not have a great experience w/ Timberland Tree Care. Throughout our experience the right hand never knew what the left hand was doing. They provided 2 separate quotes for different work in my large yard. We hired them for 1 of the jobs, weeding approx. 4,000 sq. ft in the front yard. 1 man came and did a lot of the work, but then did not return. A couple of days later, Ray reached out saying that the payment for the work was "overdue". I explained that the work was not done and she seemed surprised. Albert had to come over to see the incomplete work. Only then did he send the worker back out to finish. We then wrote a check for payment. Timberland deposited the check in a personal account instead of a business account, so the checks were rejected. Ray called and accused us of have Non Sufficient Funds to cover the checks. It took many calls + text messages for me to finally get the truth about the situation, b/c Ray never actually admitted that the error was theirs, and had nothing to do with us. Again, did not seem to know what was going on. Their behavior was very unprofessional. A company should definitely know WHY a check is rejected Before they accuse their clients of it being their fault. The whole thing wasted a lot of our time and energy, all for a mistake Timberland made and did not understand or worse, did not want to admit. I recently had the pleasure to have Timberland work on all of my trees in my house. I had about 13 trees that I need various levels of effort. I had not done anything for the last 15 years or so. trees from 10ft - 40ft. I have everything done from cut a couple down with stomp Grinding, light trimming to heavy Trimming. These guys were timely, hardworking, respectful and did an amazing job at a VERY reasonable cost. You can not go wrong with hiring them to help you. Go for it. read more

I contacted Timberland to get an estimate on tree work in my back yard (trim juniper/crepe myrtle/redwood and remove bay tree). Albert came out the following week for the estimate. Two weeks later, Jose and crew were here to do the work. My neighbor's redwood tree was really overhanging into my yard. This task took the longest time, but they did a great job cutting it back to near the fence. A stump grinder was used to take care of the last part of the bay tree. The crepe myrtle and juniper trim created more space and made that part of the yard look like it was under control. They finished the work in about two hours. Very efficient! This included hauling branches to the front and cleaning/sweeping the cuttings. There was very little for me to pick up afterwards. Albert came by and talked to us about a concern we had with our redwood trees in the side of the house. He was incredibly professional, knowledgeable and wasn't looking to make an extra buck. He basically told us we don't need to do anything, and we don't need to worry about our concern. It's really great to interact with someone who is willing to be honest even if it means less business for them. I received about seven different quotes before selecting Timberland. Their quote was competitive, but it was the initial interaction with Ray that made me pick them. She was very polite and thorough. Wouldn't recommend as they never gave me a price and were not respectful of my time. This company gave me the weirdest experience I have ever had in my life. Sorry for the long thread I got a coupon in the mail and noticed my trees did need to be trimmed back. I found their website requested a quote. Got a response in less than half a day which was impressive. I received a phone call to schedule them to come out to give me a quote in 2 hour window the following week. Thought this is great super nice over the phone but that was the end of the great service On Monday, Halfway through our appointment window they call me and say they need to reschedule because something came up. I was totally understanding asked just when the next available time. They said the next day for the same time period. I agreed and waited until next day. The day comes and went and they no call no showed for the estimate. I have never had someone do that but they called me the next day apologized for the inconvenience and asked if I would give them one more shot. I agreed and asked for a appointment next week. They happily accepted and said someone would come out and explain to me the type of trees I have and how much it will cost. They said the guy coming out is the one there best employees trained by them who will oversee the project and super knowledgeable and friendly. The guy who came out ,inside of the appointment window, was none of those things. Looked at the tree I explained to him what I wanted done. He said he would email me the quote and seemed totally uninterested in doing the work. Funny part is I never received a email of the quote probably good thing. We set up the appointment with Ray who was so pleasant, kind, informative and professional during each of our conversations. I thought I was getting good service with this company. I am so sorry I used them. First of all, as tree experts, they should have recommended cutting down the tree trunk closest to my fence. They cut branches but now I'm faced with the same problem of growth and mess. Secondly, I paid extra to cut the Burch and all the hanging branches and got a few branches cut and they left all the hanging mess that I told them to specifically cut and that I had paid for. They ripped me off. I had them come back after calling again and some guy came out that wasn't part of the first crew, was argumentative and simple told me not, he wasn't cutting what I told him was missed. He cut one branch, told me he's not cutting anymore and left. They were in a hurry to get to the next job and the hell with this one since they'd been here already. Good thing I happened to look out my window after they had been here for a bit because they were packing up without even letting me know they were done and come take a look and see if anything else needed to be done like a professional would, or if I was happy with it. I stopped them before they left and did have other things that needed to be done. They were again, in a hurry to get to another job. I had told my neighbors that this company was good but I have since told them not to use this company and we all have tress that we regularly trim. I have to find another tree company that will listen to me and do what needs to be done. Don't go with this company. Completely unsatisfactory. I did further research on the company through Google and decided to call them to get an estimate to trim back 2 Crape Myrtle trees in my back yard. When I finally got around to re-landscaping the bare area several months later, I found two stumps that needed to be ground down a little lower so the area could be leveled. Branches were removed, tree thinned and shaped and shaped completely to our satisfaction, with the health and appearance of the Jacaranda maintained. Crew performed professionally and safely each handling his function, even retrieving twigs and leaves from our pool. I used Timberland tree service and I am not happy with them and their work. I paid the bill and wrote a letter with the bill stating I am not happy with their work with no response from them. They trimmed 5 Cyprus. Trees in the front of my home. I wanted them to be shorter. They didn't remove the trimmings from inside the trees which is making them lose their shape. I also had them trim, shape, and prune two large pine trees in my back yard but they look like they were hardly touched. I am very disappointed. Update. They came back and did additional trimming. The cypress look good now. The pine trees in the back still don't look thinned enough but was told now isn't a good time of year to prune them. read more

Within 30 days of the purchase of my new home, Homesite (A division of Nationwide) Insurance decides to run their first visual inspection audit, even though they had JUST received the results of a very thorough home inspection performed within the last 60 days, as required by the sellers and our mortgage lender. While we were approved the first time, this time they immediately cancelled our insurance due to the tree branches overhanging the roof raining down debris. My wife and I had 6 days to reach compliance. For 'insurance compliance', the giant 200-300 foot tall, 30 ft diameter 3 trunk eucalyptus in our backyard, which had obviously been there longer than the house, had to come down, along with a few branches from a nearby Maple tree. The redwood which was being smothered by the euc needed to be crowned to the height of the roof. ... That made me sad because I like redwoods. But it's either them or me and it sure aint going to be me. Stressed out of mind and pissed like a hungry piranha, I call up every arborist I can find. I looked through the yellow pages, yelp, google, and even grocery store circulars. I called JTS tree, Graham Tree, Garcia's Tree, Ponderosa Tree, and at least 10 other companies willing to do free estimates in the bay. That said, it makes sense that I cannot remember the company I called to eventually find Albert. I think I found him in a transitional period since his company seems very new. I used online tree removal estimate calculators and researched local laws concerning tree removal. They estimated the job, (in Missouri) to be about $5,000. Everyone else had estimates ranging from 9K to the astounding 20K that Ponderosa was literally happy to invoice. Blood suckers. Like I'm going to embrace your enthusiasm for this task, solely because you figure you can charge the max and I'll take it. Granted my house is downslope, preventing the use of heavy machinery due to access limitations, I just don't see how one tree can cost 15K to cut down, even if it is a monster. Albert was very generous and while he did under estimate the initial quote (which 2 other companies did as well as they did not realize how far downslope the tree is), he stuck within the same relative range and let me negotiate the price considering his mistake (which the other 2 companies did not). This, in my opinion, is an extremely honest and honorable action. $7,400 from Albert was basically half price compared to the average estimate I received (I literally got 12 estimates and did the math). The second best estimate was $9,800. At the end, I opted to have the wood parts remain on my property to save a few thousand in removal costs. This caused a little contention with the neighbors who believed that the surveyor's stakes indicating the property line are there just for show. While some of the wood was legitimately on my other neighbor's property, Albert's crew spent a full day moving it immediately after I told him. As for the neighbors who wanted to test their boundaries, he actually dealt with them directly! Twice!! He made them happy and I'm extremely grateful for that. Great guy, great service, and amazing workers. They took the Euc down over the course of 4-5 weeks but had most of the hard stuff done within 2-3 days in order for me to get in compliance with with the 6 day time limit my home insurance provided. My only criticism of him is that he can sometimes be hard to reach, but I think that was because he was in transition between companies when I needed him. As soon as he set up his voicemail, I felt much more comfortable, even though he's always returned calls within the same day. I also hope he continues to accept credit cards, as I earned A LOT of points with this job. ;-) The low price saved me from having to take out a loan to get this done, and his quick and skilled workers had all the trees crowned and nothing overhanging the roof within 48 hours. We are very happy with the service we received from Timberland. From my first call through the entire process they were great to work with. We had a large tree removed, several huge tree-shrubs that were encroaching from the other side of the fence trimmed back, our beloved lemon tree properly pruned and two very old and valuable olive trees pruned after years of neglect. Albert came out for the initial assessment and put me at ease immediately with his calm and competent manner. Rae, the office manager was friendly, efficient and very helpful when we had a scheduling change. She really kept the ball rolling through a multi step project so I couldn't "drop" it... LOL...and Im grateful! The crew was on time, courteous and very tidy! I was concerned about debris that had fallen over the fence into my neighbors yard and called them to tell them we would be over to take care of it, he told me the crew had come over immediately after finishing that tree and removed it all. Cost of tree service has gazzumped greatly in the last two years. This owes to increases in dump fees, gasoline, insurance, workers comp and wages (much higher minimums). Quotes in 2019 from multiple companies were 60-110% more than what wife & I paid in 2016-17 to a company we used for many years. In shopping and comparing prices in 2019, we found Timberland competitive - not on each tree, but on several and overall. We awarded them much of the work, but still used the other company where their prices were better. Overall, we were pleased with Timberland's work. We weren't present for all work, especially at the end. A few areas might have been a bit better had we been present to point out the places, but the job was done with care and cleanup of substantial debris was thorough. We were surprised at how well two large trees were done - by workers in the trees without pneumatic lift as the other company typically used. Their sizes are reduced substantially, but the resulting shapes are nice and should last a good while before needing further attention. The crew was substantial, and they completed all work in about 3 hours. We particularly noted how they operated safely. It was a pleasure dealing with owner/estimator Albert and general manager Rae. Rae communicated frequently and often and made every effort to ensure we were satisfied. read more
