Once again, we have had an awesome experience with Prodigy. We had a large oak come crashing down on a Saturday night, and Prodigy came out first thing on Monday morning. They took care of the tree, as well as all the others that were damaged in the fall and needed to come down. Again, Carlos treated us with so much respect and patience. He is such a pro and is so easy to work with. He listened to all our concerns through the process and responded immediately. We really appreciate that level of communication, especially in such a harrowing experience. I am so happy with the work Prodigy did for us! Five months ago when we moved into our new house, we had them cut down two dead Sequoia's and trim a few overgrown trees that had been neglected for years. We got several quotes and theirs was the best. The crew was fast efficient and careful. Prodigy is licensed insured and bonded. They showed us the current documents. This is something you definitely want when somebody is taking down a giant tree next to your house. We later decided to have the liquid Amber removed. We got a few quotes again just in case and again Prodigy gave us the best rate. We are going to be doing it ourselves with the rest of the landscaping but I will not hesitate to reach out to them again if things are beyond what we can do. [UPDATE BELOW] We are very disappointed with our service from Prodigy Works. We have a large Deodar Cedar that has been the focal point of yard and home for 18 years. This once beautiful tree has been completely hacked, and it is a skeleton of its former self. We would not have even touched this tree, but our insurance was going to drop us due to our tree overhanging the roofline. Prodigy Works was a recommendation from an arborist we hired. We developed a plan with the arborist to carefully trim new growth and cut away dead branches. Next, we met with Carlos to discuss our goals and to express how important it was to use a gentle hand with our tree. We stressed that we wanted as little taken off this tree as possible, keeping it at 15-20%. We had a good discussion, and he seemed clear on what we wanted. When scheduling the work he said he would be on site. The day of the "service" Carlos was nowhere to be found. We called him (he didn't call us), Carlos told us he had some unforeseen issues to take care of. Knowing we went to the trouble of hiring an arborist, shouldn't he have called and given us the option to reschedule?? Which we most certainly would have done. Instead, he sent Eddie and we had to review the instructions again in a rush before leaving for work, (once myself and my wife a 2nd time). Eddie was very focused on not getting called back due to the insurance company. Again, we hired an arborist, so we would have been willing to pay them to come back! (give us the option!) Shame on us for not shutting the work down at this point, but we trusted this recommended company. Clearly Carlos did not express the importance of minimizing the trimming of our tree to his crew. We trusted him and feel completely let down. When Carlos came back to finish with drone photos, our disappointment was expressed. While apologetic, he felt they fulfilled what they said, and it meets "industry standards" which again tells me he did not listen to us. We are completely heartbroken. We hope that this once magnificent tree can somehow restore itself over time. Until then, we have a daily reminder of the complete hacking of our Cedar tree. I hope this never happens to another customer. I would not trust Prodigy Works. We made a plan, Carlos told us he would be here, he did not show up and we are hugely disappointed. If you use a tree service for insurance mitigation, please consider hiring an arborist to be on site while doing the work to ensure that minimum cutting is done to the tree. After receiving the quote (which was much more reasonable than two other companies I got quotes from) I was able to setup a day for the work to be completed and dealt with a gentleman named Carlos. From response times, returning calls to providing accurate and affordable estimates/pricing to arriving on-site, safety signage, riggings to bringing the appropriate tools and chipping on site is amazing. Knowing the tree names, how they typically grow, whether they present an eminent danger of falling is vital. They trimmed up several 100+ft pines, Monterey, Stone, Ponderosa removing all dead branches, removed potential and real 'widowmakers'. Additionally, "Prodigy.." pruned my orchard and other surrounding fruit trees which provided maximum fruit growth. I also had them trim off the dead leaves from the two 50ft palm trees that straddle the entrance gates to my long driveway. We just moved into the house and we realized there was a concern on how close the trees where to the house and shed and the roots on one of trees was already starting to damage the concrete inside the garage but more importantly the way some of the trees were previously pruned/cut was actually done wrong because eventually they were going to rot. We needed a total of 4 trees to be removed. Because we are new to the area we decided to ask for recommendations from people we just met, FB and Nextdoor app. I ended up calling 6 companies to get estimates. We ended up using Prodigy, because from the beginning Carlos was very professional. He came out looked at everything that we needed done. He gave me a reasonable verbal estimate and within about an hour later I had a professional estimate in my email to keep and or print out on everything that needed to done. (Types of trees, cost of removal and grinding of stumps etc.) The crew came out cut down all the trees in one day cleaned up the mess all of them very professional. Came back the next day to grind out all the stumps. I was trying to figure out why they brought a big piece of plywood come to find out while watching them they used it to block off all the excessive wood flying from the grinding into our patio area then used it as a ramp to roll the machine up to grind the stump that other companies actually said it can not be done. Why I didn't use those other companies A couple were literally 3x the cost of Prodigy plus one wouldn't be able to remove stump from one tree because of location. One said they wouldn't be able to cut down one tree because of location and also the removal of one stump because of location too. One guy came out gave me an estimate but seemed like he was bothered as he didn't want to be there and I was wasting his time. And the last one, I never got a call back after leaving 2 VM that I needed an estimate on removal of some trees. I will use Prodigy again if and when needed and I will recommend them to anyone that needs some yard work done. read more

Chris is/ was AMAZING! I was in a bind, staging a house to sell, with my first open house that weekend, & my drip irrigation of course died out on me, on a Thursday, just after a MAJOR landscaping job w/ roughly 100 new plantings. UGH! I was in a panic, thinking for sure all my plants would die in the heat/ sun JUST as folks were arriving to tour the house, but Prodigy/ Chris reached out almost immediately, after I posted my predicament on Yelp. He was at my house a couple hours later, got me a replacement key for my security panel (which I'd lost) on the way, & diagnosed the problem in like 5 minutes (cut line when they were installing my fence). He patched the primary leak, pulled the existing lines to find additional problems, talked me thru every step, provided the materials & basically sorted my issues in maybe 20 minutes total. CRAZY! I got several quotes for digging up my front lawn (not actually a lawn anymore, just nasty dirt, weeds, and rocks), adding new top soil, and installing a drip system. Chris with Prodigy Works came in at the lowest cost, which isn't necessarily how I choose a contractor, since cheapest sometimes equals lowest quality. However, Chris was really professional and responsive to my emails and presented himself really well in person. Other contractors that I met with didn't seem as confident in completing the work I needed done or were a bit arrogant. I'm glad I went with Chris as he did exactly what he said he would and even did some additional work that I requested along the way (installing a weed barrier, adding a border, and moving pea gravel). He was able to get the old irrigation system and timer at my house working again, which saved me a ton from having to start from scratch. We had a miscommunication on the pricing for one item, but he honored his original estimate when I brought it up and didn't charge me extra. His workers were really nice and worked hard and fast. I highly recommend Prodigy Works and will likely hire them again for additional projects around my house (I have many lol). The only reason I knocked off one star is because I had to do more clean up around my property than I would have liked after the job was complete. Lots of mud along my walkway and stairs and random pieces of garbage, plus a broken alarm yard sign. Also, several of my existing plants had broken branches from when the workers installed the drip line and they left behind a garbage can filled with debris from the job. However, the guy who came for the initial estimate was professional and the only one to bring a bright green laser pointer to be ultra clear about proposed branches to cut, etc. and his estimate even had photos that were marked up with cut lines. We had a failing irrigation system that was installed about fifteen years ago. Five control valves needed to be replaced. I spent 25 years in the trades myself, before retiring a few years back, so when I hired George to do the job, my expectation was that he would deliver on what was promised and get as close to his original quote as possible. They came out yesterday to deliver the quote and came they came out this morning, on time, and did the job. There were a couple of unexpected electrical issues that added a couple of hours to the job, which I fully expected to have to pay for. When they could add charges to your bill, but they don't, that's integrity. I will always go back to Prodigy Works Inc. I gotta say, these guys are really, really good! read more

Contacted Prodigy works because my son-in-law and daughter were extremely happy with the tree removal services provided for them in Walnut Creek. I wasn't sure if they would come to American Canyon or not but they arranged my appointment for a day when they would be in the area anyway. I had a pine tree that had started as a Christmas tree in a barrel many years ago and after that Christmas we put it in our front yard, not knowing the roots would grow right through the wine barrel that it was planted in. So now all these years later after the tree grew to at least 30 feet tall we decided it would be best if it was removed. Not only did we receive an extremely fair price, they actually call to say they could come two days earlier if I wanted. I was amazed at how professional they were when they arrived, and their expertise and skills are off the charts. Watching as a crew of five went about doing the work made me very happy I did not try to do this myself. It was worth every single penny I spent. There was a small problem at the end because of the wine barrel with metal straps that we had left intact. The tree had grown over and around the strap at the bottom. Because of the angle, and the proximity next to a cement border, they were unable to cut the tree all the way down to the ground. After consulting with Carlos on what we could do, he said he'd send somebody back to grind all the way down and that way we could work through the straps and break them off safely. So what seemed like a fairly cut and dry job became a two visit job. But although the work required changed the price stayed exactly the same. All in all I am beyond satisfied with the services they provided me. Highly recommend them to anybody because of their integrity and professionalism!! read more
