I am saddened to give such a awful review when I came in contact with this company I was so excited about cleaning and beatifying my yard. The positive is that I got immediate response and Mr. Hoang was punctual. Which is hard to find these days. Unfortunately I find that I overpaid for services and that the work was incomplete. In our initial meeting I listed the services I needed and it seemed that he can deliver. I thought the original quote was fair and reasonable for what I wanted. We agreed to split the work in 2 days, Day 1 Clean up day of the front, back yards and two trees: a palm and partial dead tree in front. Day 2 was to plant ground cover, add a 12' rock border and pressure wash the walkway. Day 1 they were on time and starting cleaning out the back yard, two hours later that said they were done. I go out and see the palm tree was not touched and the front yard was not done. I asked about the trees and he did not have a ladder. That was my first warning. I told him I had a ladder if he needed it. Shame on me for paying the $825 for pruning bushes along my fence line and side, 1/3 of my yard. He said he will finish the work on the 2nd day because he didn't have any more space in is truck for the shrubs. Day 2 Mr. Hoang's brother was sent to complete the job. Four hours later, I get a knock at the door saying he was done. No cleaning, dead plants still in the grounds, weeds everywhere and a muddy walkway. Needless to say I was not happy. After discussing with Mr. Hoang it turns out not only did not have a ladder but no powerwash to boot. So I knew at this point that I was not going to get the services I needed, and decided to cut my losses. Moral of the story is to get all the details in writing with the bid so that negotiations are clear cut. I learned my lesson, I paid over $1300 for 6 hours of labor and a few plants planted. I could have done the pruning myself. They were hired to do the stuff that I, as a 50+ year old woman could not do. Obviously they have made other clients happy and that is why I hired them, But if you plan to hire "California Sustainable Landscaping" get your bid it in writing. read more

I had him do stamped concrete for our driveway and one big patio in the front. He was able to accomplish it all in under a week (really 3 days total working since we couldn't get the truck for cement until after the weekend). His crew was typically 2-3 including himself. 24 hrs before you can walk on it and two weeks before parking a car. We absolutely love the work he did! Ve from CA Sustainable Landscaping did our front and backyard pavers and built us a small pergola. I would highly recommend CASL for large projects because they get the job done very quickly and the quality is high. We have a pretty small backyard - only 600 sqft, so this required a bunch of design and planning to fit everything we wanted into the yard. The pricing from Ve was reasonable so there was no need to compare pricing against other contractors. The paver we chose was from Cal-Stone, it was very high quality and the installation was perfect. They were able to cut around some very difficult areas and made the pavers fit perfectly. Everytime i had a question I was able to text or call Ve and he would answer me right away. The only negative comment I had was the fact that they did not throw away a bag of mulch when the job was done, but that's really no big deal. read more
