This was done in September 2018. Our front yard looked horrible for a while. There was the drought at first on why we didn't maintain it. And eventually it got embarrassing and we were like it's time for our yard to get fixed. We knew we wanted artificial grass since we didn't do a very good at maintaining the lawn. We called 5-6 different landscapers and their prices varied. We finally called H&H and spoke to Mr. Hoang and the price he gave us was very reasonable and we have seen his work (he did our aunt's yard as well) which we know is quality work. We went over the design/layout of how we wanted the front yard to look. And he met and exceeded all of our expectations. Mr. Hoang and his crew is very professional and hard working bunch. We asked to include a gate and they did an excellent job and didn't hassle us that it wasn't part of the agreement. He was like ok we'll add it. In June/July 2019 he installed artificial grass in our backyard as well. Once again they did a remarkable job. About a month ago, I made the mistake of hiring someone (Victor) whom I thought was a licensed contractor. He wasn't and when confronted him about it, he claimed he clearly said he had a "business license" not a contractor license. What was clear was he lied and he did a horrible job to the point the city came and stopped the work because he had cut too close to my fencing putting it at risk of falling. I had to find another contractor fast and this is where H&H comes in. Mr. Hoang from H&H not only had the lowest quote but he did a fantastic job. He fixed the mistake Victor had made and even went to the city with me to submit a plan that would avoid the permit. When the city inspector came back to inspect the work, they had three words to say: "nice job" and "beautiful." Mr. Hoang was honest too. He knew I didnt know anything and could've cut corners but he didnt. For example, I didn't know that rebars had to be set in to keep the concrete from cracking years later. He told me as he laid them in. And with the leftover rocks from the rock garden, he could've kept them for his next job. It's such a pleasure to recommend a contractor who did an outstanding job on time, on budget, and without any questionable change orders. I had a fence and patio deck that were in dire need of replacement. They tore down the old fence and deck and hauled everything away. So I came to this guy because he had good reviews. I have a small project and I called him about his availability. I told all of the companies that I contacted that it was a small project. So I sent him a text and I asked him what his minimum square footage is. He said he would talk to me once he gets to my home. So he gets here and I show him the spots. From the beginning he complained about having to remove the dirt. How expensive and time consuming it would be. Okay... I mean that's why I'm hiring a professional. I have no desire to break my back. Who does?! Well, except the workers I'm guessing. So he gave me a quote for $2200. He spoke continuously about his larger projects and how small this was. Again, that's why I asked his minimum. I wanted to spare both of our times. I asked him how much less would it be for me to remove the dirt and he said $300. So I'm thinking that $300 isn't a drastic enough change. So I let him know that $2200 is fine. His texts were pretty quick each time I texted him. When I told him ok for the $2200 there wasn't a response. I mean that's natural. It could've been a work day. Maybe he was busy. So I figure maybe I would hear from him after 6pm. So a little before 7:30, I decided to text him. Maybe it's just me but sometimes I have those moments about listening to my gut. I wasn't feeling good about this guy. His attitude from the beginning wasn't very professional but his price was the lowest. He gave me a date. A few days later I was curious why he hadn't contacted me. Then I realized I didn't hit send. Yeah that's my fault. That happens a lot with me. Anyway, he just text sorry the date is booked. I was at least expecting to see if he would offer another date. Nope. So I could be dramatic and sometimes we read attitudes wrong on text message, but again he just never seemed excited about my project and he made it seem like he was doing me a favor. So here I am working with a guy who is $600 more but is the nicest guy and is so polite and professional. You learn to appreciate things like that when negative attitudes come your way. (Side note: I got reprimanded from my spouse for sending my last text to him. We started off with getting quotes from family friends and recommendations. All were pretty expensive, didn't seem like they had a good plan or didn't seem professional enough. I tried doing the work myself but 3 months later I didn't get that far. My wife contacted H and H Landscaping from yelp (and a few others). Huang replied promptly and showed up the next day on our time. I gave him my plans of the front yard and he gave his subtle suggestions. I ended up going with most of his suggestions as he showed me examples and liked them. I now wish I went with all of them. The first job was to do the front yard (September 2019) and the 3 months of me trying was done in 4-5 days by them. Huang and his crew were very efficient, hard working, and did a great job! 5 months later (January 2020) I asked him to come back and do the backyard. I was very happy and learned to go with his suggestions. I'm so happy we now are able to use our backyard as we haven't used it since buying the house in 2012. I cannot say enough about this contractor. They re-did my entire front yard including replacing an old picket fence and partition fence with a more modern wood frame wire fence, new sod, mulch and a planter. I received quotes from other contractors and their price was fair but most importantly, they did not skip on anything. I love the results and I have been getting compliments from my neighbors for two months. What really sets this contractor apart is their commitment to service. I live next to an elementary school and once school started, the kids came were pulling the wires out of my fence. They came back and helped me put some paneling up to deter the fence from being pulled, repaired and strengthened the wires and did not charge anything. They didn't have to do that, the fence was built exactly to my specifications and outside factors were damaging it. Wow! That's really all I can say! First impression was great, but after several other quotes that were 2-3 times more expensive we started to feel nervous. We asked him to come back out again to go over more details and he happily met with us to ease our concerns and bring more samples of products before we started the work. Everything was done in less than 2 weeks, and only took that long because the grass was delayed due to Covid. He took our tiny 10ft backyard and made our backyard dreams come true. He even rolled our trash cans to the curb when he knew we were out of town, that's customer service! A part was missing for the drip line he installed, and instead of waiting until he was already coming the next day he stopped by after he was done with another project to fix it. We are so thrilled with our extended driveway, all the mess of plants he got rid of our front, and the beautiful yard he created for us with such a tiny space.
