Our previous irrigation system had leaks etc…read more During the site visit, to which Mike showed up drunk (which is fine, whatever), he mentioned that his workers would add irrigation to the pots, remove existing pipes, and bury the low-voltage electric wire which was going to be running along the pipes anyway. Mike canceled on the originally scheduled date once. Finally, Mike sent two guys to install the irrigation. They were fine and were happy to bury the electric wire when requested, but then later Mike came and rudely told me that that wasn't part of the spec, and that "these guys are stupid, if you ask them to wash your dishes they would do that too". I didn't appreciate the racist comment but let it go. But that was not all... there isn't much space between our home and the next one (think 12 inches or so), and he asked how we would get the siding repaired should we ever need to. I said I didn't know.. he said "maybe you can hire an Ethiopian to get in there, they're all thin because of the famine there". Truly WTF Anyway... judging the work itself - the installation seemed fine when it was done, but we later noticed and had to patch four leaks. I'm not sure if there are more. The piping they used, I was later told, was lower quality too. I'm not sure how long it'll last. I was unable to get competing quotes because we were short on time, but later I realized that his quote was a bit higher than others for the same work. He insisted I pay in cash, and so I did. I then spent literal WEEKS following up with him for an invoice (which I need for bookkeeping), and he kept blowing me off. He said things like "I had a family emergency", "I have 50 jobs this week", "I'm busy" and then simply stopped responding. He also said that it's just 2 minutes of work and that he would get to it... but he never did.

They also were willing to honor a contractor discount since we were using a contractor to install. I also love how everything around you IS the sample, including the parking lot! They do have a warehouse and we found out some items would be shipped if not in stock and one item in particular they didn't have in stock or online at all. Meaning some samples just may not be an option so be prepared if you happen to pick the 1 stone out of hundreds that's discontinued.

"Expectations went above and beyond"... Our family hardscape (backyard patio) project consisted of 1200 sqft of 1.25 inch thick Limestone set in a Rock Face Jumbo Pattern (4 different size stones). I obtained quotes and explained my vision to a handful of landscape contractors. My main concerns were working with a team familiar with our choice of stone and setting pattern, ensuring proper grading from house to existing pool deck, and drainage plan. Oscar not only listened to our ideas but suggested a few options of his own which enhanced the functionality and aesthetics. Oscar's team provided masonry foundation form for two separate sliding glass doors, added matching 60" x 16" limestone step down stair treads - perfectly set to code with safety lighting included. The drainage system included 90 feet of 3" pvc piping with 4 catch drains to draw rainwater/drainage away from the project toward existing sump. I would recommend Oscar and his team to anyone seeking highest quality work with reasonable pricing. I have used Oscar Rico Landscaping services for almost 15 years. Always found him to be very willing to listen and give advice when needed. He is full of knowledge about all types of trees, plants, and shrubs. He is great at telling you what will grow and do well in a particular area. He will always be honest and try his best to please the customer. If anything should go wrong he will come back at no charge and make it right. We had QGL re-do our front yard. Everything was updated: old concrete driveway and abrasive patio…read morepavers were torn out and replace with new pavers (driveway and patio). The lawn, decorative plants, sprinklers, and drainage were all replaced. We are extremely happy with the outcome. The staff QGL sent was professional and communicative. Chris was our project manager and on site we mostly worked with Paco and a small crew of 2-3 people depending on the day. The project took about 7 weeks. We got 5 bids and Chris' team came in mid-range. At the time of collecting bids, it seemed a fair price for the work. Now that the project is done I'd say it was an excellent value and the best price for the quality of work we got. We especially appreciated Chris' input on the design and plant selection. We had a design from a landscaper, but made a few changes to the shape of the driveway, a small rock wall, and adding a tree. All of Chris' suggestions were fantastic- expanding the driveway line, using Napa basalt, and adding a Crepe Myrtle. Like any project there were a few hiccups,(change to paver pattern near edge, electrical line accidentally cut when tearing up old driveway) but everything was fixed quickly and professionally. The team also phased how the pavers were laid so that we always had a clear and paved walkway to either our door or garage. Tools were put away at the end of the workday and areas swept- this was especially helpful given that we have two young children. We've had at least 5 sets of neighbors tell us how great the front yard looks now. We've done a lot of major upgrades to our house in the 6 years we've lived here (new roof, exterior paint, pool resurfacing, solar install, interior flooring & paint), but this has definitely been the best overall experience and outcome. When we update our backyard, we will definitely call QGL!
