Service: lacking as well. Showed up to our home and we had to repeat exactly what / where the problem areas were. Upon inspecting, didn't consult, but rather hastily left even without an idea of next steps. It's been two weeks now since the in-person consult and we still haven't received a follow-up or estimate. Sure, Hulu's work may be sound, but we will not be working with this company as there are better options out there if communication and service are important to you.

The second was a wall we shared with our neighbors for our shared road. The third was a wall to wrap around our property to protect our house from any future landslides. Each time, everything about the process was FANTASTIC. Steve and Kristin were so accommodating, comforting, and communicative. The walls are absolutely stunning--we get comments about how nice they are all the time. Steve is a really nice guy--he is genuine, knowledgeable, honest, and he had an understanding that the work he is doing is a significant financial investment for us and so concerns are handled compassionately, with utmost patience. Steve's crew is full of respectful, considerate individuals who leave the worksite in excellent condition each time (and I have high standards!). Kristin's prompt communication was excellent (as was Steve's) and we were very pleased that with each project, the quote was accurate. When there was dump fees (I think for soil--but not sure--they had to hire trucks), we were informed well ahead of time and told why, and even then, we prepared for the fees, and they came in under budget. We cannot recommend Avon more highly--budget willing, we would use them again and again!

After seeing some stone work at a friends in Lamorinda we were referred to Steve and Avon and the work didn't disappoint. They were 100% on target with the style, their bid (when was the last time you didn't have to do a change order?!) and their layout and leveling recommendations. Also, and very importantly, the crew was always on time, patient with parking challenges, gracious and open to engage. The lead onsite took detailed notes, and the team was methodical and diligent. We have them coming back for two more projects and would refer them first for stone and masonry work. Project: front retaining wall customer cut around coast live oak roots. Back path with steps and landing in pavers, pergola patio leveled and filled with cross hatch brick, back patio in pavers with customer cut edging for grass, brick retaining wall and leveling for new sod, hothbub pad and walls customer cut to fit tub, planter box in pavers. The price was within the range of other quotes as we always get 3 for any work we have done. Alvaro and his crew showed up on time and completed the job as agreed. They did an excellent job on our concrete with base rock, rebar & 4in thick concrete. He came back a few days later to remove the form boards and before he left, he was in the street sweeping up the concrete dust. Now that's service! From start to finish, he kept us informed via texts. He is bonded and insured and is very articulate (unlike others we interviewed). You get what you pay for. We will use Arias Concrete for all future jobs. We would rate him 10 stars if we could.

Victor and his team really came to the rescue in our driveway project. We wanted to widen our…read moredriveway but there is a gas line and massive tree roots in the area that needed to be excavated. Due to the difficulty and risk involved for excavation, it was hard to find a contractor to take on the job but from my initial consult with Victor, him and his team noted their experience with these scenarios and he was confident they can do it in less than a day. On excavation day they brought the necessary equipment and tools and were very cautious about the gas pipe. They ended up finishing the job in less than a half day! To follow up, we realized we needed more excavation at the apron of the driveway and Victor again came to the rescue and excavated that for us a week later. I sincerely appreciate the time efficiency and skill that Victor and his team have in getting our excavation needs completed. They installed artificial turf as well. Ground lighting in the turf, and recessed lighting in our pergola ceiling completed the project. They also brainstormed with us on a couple problem areas like poor drainage under a downspout, and moving a water faucet to a better location. I think the thing I appreciated about them the most was the communication from Michael. He let us know when the crew would be out and visited our yard frequently while the job was underway. His quote was accurate, and I was VERY happy not to get change ordered to death. And Cesar - his lead for this project - was BRILLIANT! He seemed to know everything and gave great advice and ideas. No shortcuts were taken, only high quality products were used, and I know it will last decades. Should we have another project, we will definitely use Westcoast Hardscape again.

We have at this point no update of contract/money overpayment returning by bank loan while we keep getting told liars on text when we resist non stop delays. The finished backyard looks excellent and the quality of the construction appears high. Vanessa specifically provided excellent, white-glove service throughout the entirety of the project and was super responsive to all of our communication. We did have a number of issues arise with the crew (mainly excessive dust seeping into our house and trash being left behind on the neighbor's property line), as well as the accounting department (an accidental attempt at overcharging us), but Vanessa always did an excellent job of troubleshooting these issues and helping to guide everybody towards a resolution. She also worked diligently on our backyard design and expertly guided us through several iterations and unexpected construction issues. Great design and installation of tasteful spotlights, mushroom lights, and some custom lights in the paver patterns. The Black Diamond team workers were fast, clean, organized, courteous, and their craftsmanship was excellent and the finished front of the house was a very custom and professional job. They were also flexible, which is probably most important. It now has a very modern, Tuscan look. What a transformation from cracked concrete! For my initial consultation appointment, I was set up with their awesome employee Mike Carson. Mike was the best to work with, as he was a very professional individual, who seemed quite knowledgeable about the products, and services that Den Defenders offered. Mike helped me find the perfect solution for my home, and family's needs, as we needed a door that would allow more airflow into Our home for the hot summers, while keeping out insects, and also being very secure, so that we can sleep without worry of any intruders entering our home. Mike recommended the Viewguard security door, as it appeared to meet all of my family's needs. After Mike educated us on the door, its quality, and its features, We were sold, so we ordered one, and set up an appointment for the install date. When it was install day, My family was very excited, because when we first seen the door, it looked like a very high-quality, and sturdy unit.
