So he does great but he'll get the job by lying to you. For example he finished the job and put the behind the wall and well I didn't quote you for that. He also said that he didn't quote me for the retaining wall and I told him I wanted him to before three. I told him to do the irrigation. He never showed up for the irrigation three weeks later he's telling to pump my brakes. I need to pump my brakes and tells me that oh by the way I owe him $500 still for the retaining wall that he forgot to do even though when I told him to do it, he says oh yeah I forgot about that and now I'm over here trying to do the irrigation and now I know why he ran off and didn't come back because he never connected the pipes and you can't even run the irrigation because all the pipes lead to nowhere. He also told me about his God experience and why I chose him is because of him being so close to God and then he does this to me now I understand why he ran off for three weeks and didn't come back to do the irrigation. read more

The picture doesn't do it justice, but getting a picture of my drive-way without cars on it is impossible. We had been hunting for a good contractor for our driveway which was trashed by roots, and everyone I asked could only tell me names of who not to go with until I found Donaldson. I had driven by a house who had work done and spoken with them to see about their experience. Steve was good about level setting with us and supporting our vision even though it would prove to be a little high maintenance. I wanted a brick boarder which came out looking fantastic and of course we immediately damaged it because well we were idiots. Steve was super nice and sent his masonry person to fix it and reinforce it to make it a little more idiot proof. The imprint design and the brink really brings the driveway to life. My only warning is once you have your fabulous driveway you will notice your house needs painting and your yard could use a glow-up. Donaldson ground down our dreaded tree stump, helped run pipes for our sprinkler under the driveway, installed a handrail on our new step, laid the beautiful brick trim, and filled in a hole in our sidewalk. Their prices were reasonable and the service was responsive. I had noticed one review mention he was unresponsive once the balance was paid in full so I was nervous when we had a couple things left to be done, but they were on it! We hired Steve after reaching out to several contractors here on Yelp. Steve was the most responsive, personable, and reasonable of them all. We were getting a pool, and we'd decided to go with a company that doesn't do any demo or do the deck or equipment pad (concrete) work. Steve quickly produced a quote to demo old concrete, then return after the gunite phase of the pool install and frame up and pour colored, stamped concrete for the pool deck, equipment pad, a new patio and walkways around both sides of the house. Steve and his crew were very considerate, always cleaning up after themselves, and making the entire process easy. During the demo I was removing a fruit tree myself and one of his crew came over and helped. The best part of my entire pool installation project was the attitude of, and work that Steve and his crew did. There are only a couple minor baubles in the entire project - a couple of seams were cut with slight tapers instead of perpendicular to the edges they cut across. The courtesy call when they can't make a day of work because of rain, usually my experience is the company no shows but Donaldson concrete communicated so well. I felt trust and honest with them which is huge for me. They gave us some great landscape ideas along with doing the concrete. They ended up doing our landscape UNDER BUDGET. They think about your property in the future. Like laying conduit and a extra water line that can be accessed easily if we decide to add a water feature in the future. They are not the cheapest which is a plus because they provide top shelf work. And yes they were not the most expensive either but really it's the ease of laying out the project that attracted us . I needed a small area (9ftx5ft) of concrete poured on the side of my house. I called Steve Donaldson and left a voicemail in the evening of 10July asking if he could give me a quote. On the morning of 11July, Steve called me back and offered to come over that morning. I agreed and within an hour, Steve was at my house giving me a quote. I appreciated one of the key things he said which was, "I always told myself that I didn't want to get too big where I couldn't do small projects for the people in my community." Steve said he would have his guys start the project the following morning and they would be done by the afternoon. About an hour later, Steve called and said he could have his crew prep the area that day and might even be able to pour the concrete. I said that was perfect. Sure enough, about an hour after that, his crew was at my house and already hard at work. I was in and out of my house most of the day, but each time I was there, the crew was working hard in the horrible heat. I offered ice water and it was welcomed. By 4:30pm, the job was done. The crew had cleaned up and when I arrived home, the slab looked perfect. Steve texted me the following morning and offered to come by and pick up the payment. He also looked at the job and said his crew would be by later to clean up a few extra things and inspect the job. I told Steve I would have another job for him later on when I could save up the money, he said no problem and to give him a call. He also said he would work with me and would pour the concrete as far as he could go. I really appreciated that since I am not a whelthy person and can't afford to complete the job in one sitting. I reached out to Steve for suggestions on fixing a previous stamped concrete job that we hired someone else to do. It did not turn out correctly and looked pretty bad. Steve called me back within minutes, came out the following morning, and gave us great, honest professional advice on how we could fix the space without ripping everything out. His crew did a limestone overlay on top of our existing concrete, and it turned out incredible. We were so happy with the entire process from start to finish. Pros: -cheaper than others in the area -quick turnaround Cons: -everything else - discovered broken drain pipe a week after the job was done and was told, "will come by" to look at. 2 days later, still a no show. $33 bucks and I'll fix it right myself. Luckily it rained or I would have discovered next winter when my yard floods. -failed to bury my drip system back they way it was before work started. -concrete scraps everywhere and in my ground cover. -gravel left and mixed in my ground cover -excess concrete gravel tossed into my side yard. Yeah it's unfinished right now but doesn't mean I want concrete gravel mixed in my dirt. -used my hose and nozzle to do their work instead of their own. Accidently took my nozzle but brought it back when I called them on it. -were supposed to relocate 3 plants but pulled them and stuck in a bucket for 3 days. After asking twice I said screw it and planted them myself. -broom finish quality rough in spots in the back yard. Front was better quality. -water puddles up on back patio. Supposed to be sloped but they cut corners with no base gravel so maybe that's why? Not a big deal since it hardly rains. -concrete spots on my stucco so have to repaint many spots. Bottom line... you get what you pay for. Once Steve has all your money, they ain't coming back to make things right. Steve is a nice guy but customer service isn't important to his company. If you can't fix issues yourself, don't use Donaldson Concrete. read more

Steve came out, looked at our yard, listened to what we thought we wanted, gave excellent advice, told us where we could see 'stamped concrete', both his work and general styles. He gave us a fixed price, we added to what we wanted, he gave us a new fixed price and we signed. They started the work a week or so later than we thought (he is actually very busy), but once they started, they came every day they said they would (weekends off) and we were very impressed how fast the work progressed, while keeping their work areas neat. They did everything they said they would do, for the price they quoted and their work is amazing. The neighbors have all complimented the work, saying how nice it all looks.
