On 12/12/24 Toledo Construction's (TC) guys came back out and put support beams in the crawlspace to seemingly make the floor level and to fix the cracked grout issue. They did re-grout the floor, but surprise surprise, the grout started cracking again in the same areas a week later. Needless to say, we won't be reaching out to Gerardo because we literally can't deal with the junk work from this junk company. Please note that prior to the bathroom renovation, I made it very clear to Gerardo that there was an issue with the flooring and that it wasn't level. He included an estimate in the contract I. case it was needed, but then said the floor was fine. Since he was juggling our job and others, and unable to rely on his workers due diligence the grout started to crack. It wasn't until the 3rd week that he finally realized the floor needed extra support beams in the crawl space. Had he listened to me and paid attention he would have realized this earlier. Sadly, in the end, none of this mattered. In response to Gerardo asking me to post pictures of after they "fixed" some of the issues, well you would hope that everything was resolved and that I wouldn't need to. The point of this post is to show the continual problems and headache this "company" is to deal with. The towel rack was never properly installed until I did it myself. Why would I have to do this work when I already paid for it to be done by TC? BTW, he said everything would be perfect and that I wouldn't need to clean or do anything once they were done. That was a lie. Also, when we signed the contract, we paid for the proper installation of everything. We didn't sign a contract for "first time installation attempt." Lol What a joke. Why would we need to pay extra for his workers lack of skills. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. How about hiring people with experience, doing the job right, and the first time. People, please don't think twice about using this company. I swear I'm saving you so much grief, time and money. read more

Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing. * Poor communication: He often took days to respond to messages, which made coordinating very stressful. * Quick to take payment: He accepted $150 for the estimate right away, but after that, communication and follow-through were lacking. * Lack of professionalism: Although he initially agreed to take on the job, his actions suggested little interest in completing it. I tried to put some good faith into it and tried to tell myself that he has great yelp reviews and maybe I'm just catching him at a really busy time because it's such a small project however his actions just cannot excuse how terrible this went. * Unreliable and unprofessional: Although he initially agreed to take on the job, he showed little interest in actually completing it. Despite repeated follow-ups, he eventually became completely unresponsive and ghosted me. * Negative impact: Because of this, I was forced to scramble to find backup contractors at the last minute, which caused unnecessary stress and delays in reopening. In the end, the project was never completed, and I was left without the work I urgently needed. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Gerardo for reliable or professional service. Now, if Gerardo had been upfront from the beginning and said that he didn't want to take the job - he could've at least earned my respect and this rating would've not been so low. I am thorough when it comes to getting proposals for any work that I have done so I got 7 proposals for this project. Toledo Construction was the low bid and they had good reviews, so we decided to hire them. Gerardo was very professional and pleasant and friendly. It took a while for us to schedule a start date that would work with both of our schedules,but once they got started, things moved along very quickly. His crew came in and were very respectful and worked very efficiently and had the tub out and walls stripped and prepared the area to move forward with the tile work on the first day. My husband and I were looking for someone to repair our balcony that was severely water damaged and aged. We could not even walk on it because the floor was so soft. As young home owners, it can be scary knowing who to trust , especially when it comes to home repairs. I submitted an inquiry on yelp hoping to find a good contractor to do the work we were looking for. I submitted the quote last Thursday on my way home from Santa Cruz and within several minutes, I had an email from Toledo Construction about my project. This was around 12pm. I emailed back and forth and Gerardo said he could be there by 2pm to assess the work and provide a bid. I was shocked someone would come out the same day and so quickly. Upon arrival , Gerardo was very polite and respectful. He greeted my husband and I and we welcomed him inside. We showed him some work we wanted done inside the home and for the balcony. He took photos and measurements then advised us he would provide a quote by the next day. He seemed very knowledgeable and we felt hopeful. Friday morning, I received the quote pretty quickly. The price was very fair and I loved that the bid was itemized so we could see what each aspect of work would cost. After reviewing our budget, we asked Gerardo if we could go ahead and have the balcony done first , then do the living room work a bit later. He said that was no problem and sent me a contract with updated pricing . By Sunday morning we signed our contract and Monday, he and the team were able to start work. I couldn't believe how quickly they demo'd the balcony and how quickly but efficiently they worked. I appreciated that Gerardo texted me and sent me photos of the work as they went so we could see everything. At one point , he mentioned they decided to use a higher quality wood to last longer since the balcony is exposed to the natural elements. I wondered how much extra this would cost since we'd already agreed on a price. Upon asking Gerardo , he explained that it would be no additional charge as he made the decision himself to use a different material because he wants the work to last a long time for us. We thought this was so nice! The team worked from about 8:30am to 6:30 or so on Monday to finish work. On Tuesday, after everything dried , we were able to go out and check out our new balcony! I noticed a tiny bit of pink on our balcony rails and I asked Gerardo how I could clean it off. He explained this was the weather proofing product and said he would be coming back out to remove and repaint the rails. We were so happy and grateful as I wouldn't have minded just removing it myself. Gerardo also said they would be adding some more sealing around the edges to make sure the balcony was well water proofed. They wrapped up work today and the difference is night an day ! We now have a much more secure , beautiful balcony and are excited to decorate/enjoy our view. Gerardo has been so respectful of our home , even wearing shoe covers when walking through the house. The whole team have been very nice and hard working . We are so happy with the work and with the service provided that we will be having Toledo Construction come out soon for the living room project.
