Ok, I haven't even used these guys yet but like them already. Via Yelp I asked for a quote and sent them a couple pictures of a stump that is in a very odd place, it's between a wall and walk way. Within minutes they contacted me and told me because of the location they can't do it. I really appreciate the honesty. They could have come out, done a hack job and charged me for it. I must have forgotten to write a review when this work was first done, but now that I need more work at a new house, I see my mistake. Last year, we had an old tree in our yard that was not doing well. We contacted Mathers about what to do, and Mitch came out and said trimming it would not really be advisable because it was too far gone. So we had it removed. He and his wife Emily helped me with the permit application, then removed the tree and did the stump grinding. They did a good job, cleaned up well, and we've had no further growth in the year since it's been gone. Great service. Amazing work. Honest pricing. I was extremely pleased with Mather's tree service. We had them out to remove dead wood from our oaks and cut them back a bit from our house. They also removed some dead trees and two redwoods that were dried up and taking all the moisture from the rest of the yard. They did a beautiful job on the oaks and preserved several shrubs surrounding the redwoods and still managed to grind out the stumps. Mathers came to trim 5 trees at our house that had overgrown. They were right on time, trimmed and cleaned exactly as we wanted, consulted us at key moments to fine tune, and worked really hard for almost 6 hours with a cheerful attitude. We highly recommend Mathers Tree Service. Mitch estimated our job at a reasonable price. The work involved cleanup of deadwood, light thinning and shaping of a huge oak and about five varied medium to large trees. Because he is an arborist, he gave us advice that steered us away from damaging the trees. (One of the other companies had proposed topping a couple of the trees--a bad strategy.) The crew of five arrived right before 8:00 am, as promised. They all have a great work ethic. In addition, they are very safety conscious. (The men working on and below the oak wore helmets.) They lowered heavy pieces of oak deadwood carefully by ropes to protect each other, as well as our nearby roses. Because we were home, they asked for feedback regarding issues like clearance distance from electrical wires and shaping of Japanese maples. They left their work areas very clean and hauled the cut branches and foliage away. Our trees look fab! We had a great overall experience with Mathers Tree Service. We had a large pine, several oaks, and some additional smaller trees that hadn't been pruned in probably ten years. One of the oaks has a large branch that had been damaged when a neighbor's tree had fallen on it a few years ago that I wanted an arborist to evaluate to make sure it wasn't at risk of breaking. We called Mathers on a Monday morning and Emily called us back the same day and scheduled Mitch to come to assess the project and provide an estimate the following morning. Mitch gave us a reasonable quote on the spot and was able to schedule us in the next day. He mentioned that his tree climber (who turned out to be his dad, Rich) would be in town so the timing was good. Rich, Nick, and the rest of the crew arrived on time and checked in with us frequently to make sure we were happy with the progress. The Real Deal! Mather's Tree came to the rescue when our other tree service completed only half the job, left the property and ceased to communicate with us. We were getting a shared fence replaced and needed small trees removed, stumps grinded, and debris removed. We got two bids, one was Mather's the other was another company that was drastically cheaper. We went with the cheaper bid but that came back to bite us. Long story short, that other tree company only did part of the contracted work and left us with a mess that halted fence construction. We were in a bind and needed the tree debris removed in a day, so we called Mather's Tree back and explained the situation. Got a call back from Emily the same day. Emily explained that they generally don't do purely debris removal but would send Mitch out to see what he could do. He came out to view the property the same day. He quoted us a fair price and said his team could come out the next day. His team showed up on time, promptly removed the debris and was so courteous blow debris the other tree company left that was present on our neighbor's roof. Second time using Mathers. Had to take down a giant 59" in diameter Siberian Elm nestled between 2 sheds -one of which is my fancy schmancy she shed/office. Emily and I communicated to get the back work of permits and scheduling done. Then a crew of about 6 of the bad assest men showed up in gear I never even heard of to first of all, protect the hell outta my sheds, and 2 to take down that beast of a tree! Yes, they were hot, but their big boy tools were making it hard not to grab popcorn, sit and perch and watch the show!! It. Was. EPIC! So skilled!!
