I had a huge Modesto ash that was leaning over the neighbor's house. Given the age of the tree I was concerned that it might fail and land on the neighbor's roof. The tree was in a very difficult location surrounded by decking, hot tub and fence. I had several estimates done and Terry's was by far the least expensive. I would not recommend this business based on my phone experience with them earlier today. It was a bit of a hold time, that's ok as I'm a pretty patient person. They asked for a lot of personal information up front..ok no problem. When it came time to give my address the last thing I heard was "Oh, you're not in our service area.." I was about to respond with a "thank you for your time" and "is there anyone you'd recommend for my area" but they hung up so fast I could barely get a word out. I can understand if you can't service me, but is that an excuse to treat me less than a human being? Highly recommend Terrys Tree if you're looking to have someone come by to analyze your trees! we had several trees of concern and they come by with free consultations. We had one large tree removed out in front that was already dead and gone and they pruned our orange tree. To cut the larger tree was like $700ish and to prune the orange tree was like $375 or so. They come by with a large truck that also turns tree remains into mulch so when they feed your tree parts in it can be quite loud so I highly recommend you to warn your neighbors first because there will be loud noises. They do a great job cleaning up after they've pruned. Highly recommend you call just to have an estimate, it's always worth having expert advice because sometimes trees are dead or invasive and you wouldn't know, and also prune your tree growth away from your roof line to prevent critters! read more

Decided to let them do it when they could fit me in, and it only took about a week for an opening. 3man crew, done relatively quickly, good job of cleaning up. Updated review after 5 years: My trees in the backyard were overdue for some care. If you have big palm trees and neglect to trim them every year, you'll find ugly, yellow fronds falling off along with big pieces of bark from the tree rotting off and accumulating on the ground. I called Terry's Tree Service for an estimate and Terry himself came out and provided a quote, along with useful tree care tips. Better yet, he had a large crew available same day if I accept the job. Definitely! With a busy hybrid work schedule and 2yo toddler, scheduling stuff is harder for us. Terry sent a crew of six with three large trucks in the late afternoon. They finished the work in like 2.5 hours and did an incredibly thorough job. My yard afterwards was spotless and they even cleaned my neighbor's yards from falling debris. They did the following: 1. Cutting down a really tall and skinny palm tree down to the stump. I felt bad cutting down the tree, but we get really nervous watching this tree sway during the windy/rainy season. It also did not provide any shade and was more an eyesore. Like Stratosphere Tower from my yard. They had one skilled guy climb the tree with a chainsaw and cut it down, section-by-section. 2. V-Cut trim on my Date Palm Tree. We kept this tree since its shorter and provides lots of shade. Seems sturdier too. 3. Trimming the height and branches from a smaller tree that was scratching our upstairs windows and skylight. Definitely recommend Terry's Tree Service - fair prices, excellent cleanup, and safe and fast execution. Do take advantage of their expertise by asking lots of questions and getting tips during the estimate. For example, getting a V-Cut will extend the maintenance interval for palm tree and sometimes its best not to remove the stump right away (soil erosion risk). read more

Amazing Community Service Terry's Tree Service sent a crew to retrieve my son's Remote Control airplane from a 40 foot tree in a San Ramon Park. Delivery was wonderful of our wood chips...AND THEN WHEN WE WENT TO SPREAD IT ALL, SADLY, THE QUALITY IS AWEFUL!!! Very disappointed. There are 4 & 5 foot leafless branches, there is a significant amount of crunched up leaves, (that fly acrossed our pavers & making a mess). There were four large bins of bigger sticks (12") AND sharp that had to be hand picked out of the 'mulch' pile. A huge amount of (what appears to be), old browned redwood needles...not wood chips. We have had wood chips delivered before, and they've been nice small uniform chunks of wood. This is really a mess. Granted it's at no charge but I should be paid to take this off your hands. I don't know any tree service that helps you out when you are in a bind. Unfortunately, two weeks ago, I had a tree service (won't mention their name) come out to remove two trees and grind out the stumps. They didn't do the best job at all.
