Quality Tree Care trimmed our Heritage Valley Oak and did a wonderful job. The crew of 5 arrived on time and got to work! The tree is very large and had not been trimmed/serviced in about 15 years so it was due. Just the right amount of pruning and cleaning of the branches was done, and it's amazing to see the difference of how open and balanced the tree is now. They trimmed back branches over the house and the ones near the neighbors house. With a majestic oak you want a crew that does NOT hack and wack...this company knows how to CORRECTLY care for an oak. Quality tree care once again did a great job and did above and beyond. The price was very fair, the quick estimate (within an hour) and fortunate for us they had a cancellation that day so got our trees taken care of that day. They see things we don't see, potential hazards. I especially appreciate that they were very careful in my backyard that has many succulents that could be harmed if stepped on or even pushed against. We had a great experience with Quality Tree Care - from Stephanie in the office to every member of the large, hardworking crew. They are an arborist owned and certified business. They came out and evaluated three very old oaks of different varieties and gave us a reasonable estimate (we got other estimates too) and could schedule us in a very reasonable time frame. They came out and made our trees happy again; they also pruned vegetation away from the house for fire safety. The whole crew was very knowledgeable not to mention punctual - Johnny, Ben, Oscar, Jaime the amazing boom operator and all the talented climbers/chainsaw experts. Fun to watch. I really wanted to love Quality Tree Care. I chose them because Danny was so thoughtful and knowledgeable about my trees. He gave me meaningful advice on what to look out for in the future, as well as tips on how much water and care my trees need. Danny truly knew everything about trees! However, my experience with scheduling and the overall execution of the project was disappointing. After signing the quote, I had to email several times just to get the work scheduled, which should have been a red flag. When the team finally arrived, I was surprised that Danny wasn't there to direct them. This is where the miscommunication happened--I had to explain all over again what Danny and I had discussed regarding the tree pruning and trimming. The main person on-site seemed annoyed when I asked for adjustments, which left me unsatisfied with the job. One tree in the front didn't look right to me, and I had to reach out again. They did send Danny back out to assess the problem, and the team returned to make the tree more uniform. Overall, they did an okay job, but it felt like pulling teeth to get the results I wanted. Danny is truly a gem and was wonderful to work with, but unfortunately, I won't be hiring them again due to the hassle involved in getting the project done. read more

Tree Care-Pruning With all the rain, my Red Pin Oak tree grew incredibly the last two years. Vertically, it grew 12 feet! The tree was at 50 feet. And the canopy grew outwards 10-15 feet. It is so much easier to prune without leaves on it. So I started my search and research, I reached out to 6 companies via their online estimate request. Three did not respond at all. So they were thrown out. Do not have an online form if no one is going to answer it. Within 24 hours, I was contacted by three companies. I made sure that all the companies had a business license and Contractor's license. (CSLB) By far the quickest and most thorough response was from Quality Tree Care Arborist. The office manager, Stephanie was very pleasant and excellent on follow up. She had Danny McGuire contact me within several hours. I stressed I wanted it done soon. Danny was prompt and let me know when he was getting close to my house. He spent 45 minutes looking at the tree since it so tall with huge branches. I gave him my goals to reduce the height and bring the canopy in. The tree is 58 years old. Danny got back to me in 4 hours with an estimate. It was not the lowest but the information on how they would accomplishment the pruning satisfied me without endangering my tree, my garden or my house. On Monday, the crew led by Andrew showed up and started work. The crew was very good. With Andrew, there were 4 members. Andrew was in the tree while another man had a 30 foot cutting pull and he was cutting lower limbs. Securely, Andrew cut the limbs with with a chainsaw. The big limbs were lowered to the ground by ropes. I am in awe at how they do it. Within 2.5 hours, the job was completed. They did a great job cleaning up. I can't recommend this company enough. Great group of people. I was surprised that one company required a $150 deposit to come out and visit to give an estimate. The $150 deposit would be deducted from the total bill. I found this strange. Why would a company exclude itself from competition? Now I feel safe that a huge limb will not fall on my roof and my entire yard will not be totally shaded. read more

Quality Tree Care was great to work with. We had a complicated job - (for context - someone from another company came to give us a quote and practically refused to do it once he saw the scope). We had a massive pine tree in our sloped backyard. We live on a steep hill (many work trucks can't make it up or figure out how to turn around). And - to top it off - there's a deck right below the pine tree - so it felt like there was very little room for error. The team did an amazing job. They spent three days removing our giant tree - hauling it up our massive hill. They did exactly what we asked and provided us with ample mulch for our yard. The deck wasn't damaged in the process. My only challenge was getting on their schedule - clearly they're busy and in demand - but it took a bit of follow up to get them to lock in on a date. It was time to trim four of our trees. We've used various companies over the years, but this time we wanted the advice of an actual arborist. We had questions about the integrity of a silver walnut tree, and looked for recommendations on trimming two elms to maximize garden shade while harnessing their rapid growth. This is an outstanding local tree company. Johnny came out - gave me a very detailed bid and took video of the work that was needed at my home. I needed delicate trees shaped and overgrown trees significantly cut back. Within a few days the work was scheduled and a team of 5 skilled workers showed up on time ready to work. Moved to Benicia in December 2023 with trees needing care on our property. Checked out reviews for several companies but most impressed by Quality Tree Care in Pleasant Hill. Asked for an estimate, got an appointment quickly and Dennis arrived on time. Gave an estimate on the spot for his arborist view of the white mulberry needing care as well as the small apple for fruit pruning. Price was very reasonable and he said my job could fit into their schedule within a week. Got the call from Dennis one evening a few days later and Oscar with crew arrived at 8am next morning. All workers were outfitted with helmets, gloves, protective gear and professional tools as well as a large wood chipper to grind branches and huge truck to receive the wood chips. They did a great job cleaning, opening up and shaping the mulberry and the apple tree for fruit. They even removed a dangerous large broken branch hanging from a huge pine tree in front at no extra charge not part of the estimate. Wonderful crew and company. I had been looking fairly extensively for a true tree maintenance company (not a hack-and-haul outfit). I had the need to prune one large Valley Oak, a Coast Live Oak, three pear trees, remove mistletoe toe from the top of our Twisty Baby locust, and remove a plum tree that had begun to bear and drop fruit for months at a time onto our patio. Danny came out to give a thorough assessment, I received quote within the hour, and we scheduled the service within the month. The crew came out and accomplished all of the above in a little more than half the day. I was impressed with their speed, their care of our property, their ability to clean up quickly after themselves - and they even hung rope for a swing from the top branches of our grand (and beautifully pruned) oak tree. Today was our 3rd time with Quality and they deserve their name. The owner, Joe, is an arborist who knows trees. They've taken care of my oaks but today's job involved removing a VERY large eucalyptus. It is always the same: they do the job as agreed upon; they leave no mess; they respect the property; they communicate well and they are solid and professional. I also appreciate that their high-quality equipment (cranes, chipper trucks, bob-cats, etc...) means they get the job done efficiently. A few months ago I had a large Valley Oak split and half fell off. It was a hazard and needed to be taken down promptly. Joe came right out, got all the required permits, and scheduled us as soon as the City inspector approved the job. Kudos to Andrew, our crew boss on both occassions. UPDATED Review: I got a call from Joe (owner) today. It was apparent to me that he cared a lot about his business and seemed sincere in his apology for what had transpired. Some businesses would care less but Joe took responsibility for what his employees did and didn't do. Moreover, he offered to make it right and fix what was unresolved. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything else anymore but the fact that he was willing to come back again to do whatever necessary gave me some assurance that he would stand behind his work. If he had reached out to me sooner (months before, even with the mistakes, this would've garnered at least 4 stars but I can't erase what's happened and what I had to do, so the best I could do was add 1 more star to this review. So while the 2 stars might turn you off for what had happened, I think knowing that Joe would follow up should give some comfort. read more

Joe and his guys are phenomenally good at what they do. I was referred to them by another tree service who was not able to accommodate. I contacted Quality Tree Care for trimming and removal of several trees, including two 40+ year old Monterey pines. Johnny came out to do the initial quote but wanted to have Joe, the owner, come and take a second look at the pines, which would require a crane. Joe came out and was friendly and easy to work with. Everyone on his team is very knowledgeable about trees, and that was the big selling point for me: trust that the job would be done right. Another competitor had a lower quote, but I didn't get the feeling that they knew what they were doing. That said, Quality Tree Care was able to come out the following week with a dozen crew and removed six trees, a rosemary bush, and trimmed six trees in one day. I had not had any tree work done in several years since I moved in, and they were efficient and entertaining to watch. It's not everyday you see a crane lifting sections of huge pine tree and people climbing trees in your yard. They requested feedback during the day to make sure everything looked the way I wanted, and they cleaned up completely. I will hire them again the next time I need pruning. read more
