Service was friendly, but it would have been nice if she would have backed off after we ordered appetizers. Instead of pushing for the entree order. We were entertaining clients. The huge bummer was the way too silly menu. Thin crust pizza had no flavor. (Glue like) White crust, with a ricotta spread, then more white cheese. It was bland, and frankly I was embarrassed for the chef. We complained about the mussels being "off". They really should have been taken off the check, but were not. We are not the type to make a fuss. Gnocchi was nice, delicate, but still lacked flavor and interest. The menu should be segregated fo you can comprehend what is an appetizer and what is an entree. I want to add the soufflé was delightful. The house made soda (none alcohol) was refreshing). There are some good things I need to note. But for a dining experience. This is Denver's hidden gem. Potager is my favorite restaurant in the city for a host of reasons: the elevated farm to table food, the staff that treats you like family, the cozy buzz in the restaurant, and the feelings of a full tummy and a full heart after dinner. What a wonderful restaurant! The ambiance was warm as welcoming. All the guests were animated and obviously enjoying their conversation and food. A real foodie would enjoy this place-- delicious flavorful seasonal local food that rotates on the menu, used cook books line the hallway, rich wine menu (you can order half glasses or flights which allows variety) and fantastic service. So disappointed with our dining experience. The kitchen's timing was definitely off, and we had to wait over 30 minutes for our entrees to arrive after having our appetizers. Two of us ordered sea bass as our entrees, and both were overcooked and dried out. When we pointed this out to our server, we received no apology and she actually had the nerve to insult us by questioning whether we knew what sea bass tasted like. Seriously? On the way out, we raised our concerns with the manager and again no apology whatsoever. Both the staff and manager need to take a course on customer relations. read more

I had: goat cheese ravioli potato cheese soup potato pancake with duck grilled shrimp blue cheese souffle Of all the above dishes, the blue cheese souffle was the best. But, overall, the food was ok. It was on the bland side, and I usually like my food to be very flavorful. I sat at the bar, and Jerry (who's the manager and wine buyer) was very nice. He introduced us to some nice new wines. Because the waiters and waitresses were cordial and welcoming, and the wine was decent, I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1. The food, however, was terrible. I ordered the "TRIPLE M BAR LAMB SUGO and homemade tagliatelle, grilled shitakes, mint and marinated feta" ($23). I was excited to try out some homemade pasta with a hint of mint. The plate arrived lukewarm and pretty soon, I was eating cold pasta. The sauce didn't taste like anything special and the ground lamb was underwhelming. Bottom line: I make better pasta at home. Came to Potager for fresh, farm to table ingredients and was given an overpriced dinner that was virtually indistinguishable from a microwave meal. Awful way to waste $100 for two! read more

Food was excellent, and I appreciate the changing menu based on locally sourced farms! Although "Wine Bar" is included in their advertising, the wines are pricey for what they are, and the selection isn't as extensive as other restaurants in the area. I love the concept of this restaurant and was so excited to come eat here but I probably just do not have classy enough taste to appreciate the food. To start, we had the roasted beets, which we thought was really good. We also had the pretzel profiteroles, which both of us thought were too intensely flavored and salty, we perhaps did not know what we were getting into with the beer cheese. Unfortunately, by the time we got there, the restaurant ran out of the only vegetarian large plate option of the potato gnocchi. The kitchen staff were so nice in piecing together a dish for us with the garganelli from another dish. We felt like the dish was just ok and it wouldn't be something we want to order again. This is an amazing farm to table institution in Denver - like having a Colorado version of Chez Panisse. We live around the corner, so have been here quite a few times and also done the CSA pickups with cooking class here. The food is always amazing and a fun reminder of what's in season whenever you go. The service is also always extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I'm definitely not someone who is afraid of a little salt, but they needed to dial it back a few notches. Also, they served 4oz pours of wine and charged the 7oz pour price. I wanted to love this place, I really did. I've been trying to come here for a while. However, I don't know if I'll be back for a full meal. I came here for a special occasion. While I'm ok spending over a hundred for a meal for two people if all the food was amazing, the food wasn't at all worth it for the price paid. The plus is the atmosphere is very charming and cozy and the staff is great. But food wise? The only thing we really liked was the chicken--the chicken ordered was phenomenal. Everything else was kind of meh. I've had way better mussels, risotto and dessert that were far more affordable and less fancy places. The dessert didn't even seem all the way cooked and I found two separate hairs in my risotto. While hair doesn't gross me out, it certainly doesn't sell me on the place. I recommend coming here and sitting at the bar to enjoy some wine and the atmosphere. Go elsewhere for an all around better meal. read more

YUM YUM YUM! My friend took me here for a quick bite. We waited 15 mins for a seat at the bar and ordered the gnocchi. WOW! I could eat that everyday. It literally melts in your mouth! And the fig and cheese are just that extra something that makes the dish FABULOUS! Along with the great bartenders and atmosphere, you can't beat this place! A proper review of Potager would not be complete without a little bit of history. Potager pioneered farm-to-table long before it was ever mainstream, cool, or frankly over-hyped. The basic philosophy behind Potager has not changed a bit in the 20 years I have been coming to the restaurant. Many have tried to replicate Potager, but to this day I believe it is the standard bearer in the business. Look no farther than the back patio, which is full of herbs, vegetables, and fruits that eventually end up on your plate. What they cannot raise or grow in the backyard is usually from a farm just a few miles away, and was hand-picked by the staff. The seafood has to come a bit farther, but it is flown in fresh and never disappoints. The restaurant is super unique - an urban setting in an old storefront, with large windows, high ceilings, and local artwork. Reservations are not available, so it pays to arrive early unless you are OK waiting for a table. If you do have to wait the bar is very much a part of the restaurant, and there is room to hang out and enjoy time with your friends. I'd say well behaved kids are welcome, but this is a place that is best when you have a sitter and you can take some time to enjoy a true culinary experience. Our favorites - keep in mind the menu changes seasonally - include the goat cheese soufflé, the beet and tomato salad, any of the thin crust pizzas, the fish (I will order the salmon or halibut if it is in). The chocolate pudding is simple but memorable - really hard to beat. The bar is mainly beer and wine, but the selection is really unique (a good mix of organic wines and mainstream choices) and very reasonable. The staff is always super impressive - such great knowledge of the food and drinks and they seem to really enjoy doing what they do. They really work well as a team, and definitely add to the friendly, open vibe of Potager. I've been visiting Potager for the better part of 20 years. I'm not as close as I once was, and now it is a journey to get there. A journey, however, well worth taking. Potager is a Denver foodie institution. Been around for 20 years, but the attributes that got them to this honored place are slipping. It is now all about them, not the patron. Reservations? No. Seating your party while one parks in their lot? No. Pick a table? No. Discuss with the hostess/manager? Not going to happen. She made our first 5 minutes in the door one of the worst experiences in a Denver restaurant probably ever. When Potager opened there were not many options like it, but Denver has changed and there are so many places that want our business. Time moves on and so will we. I have been to potager about 3 times in the past 6 months. I like it more and more each time as there are always new items on the menu with the changing seasons. And service is ALWAYS perfect. The waitstaff here are great and seem to really be passionate about their restaurant. They also seem to work cohesively as a team including the hostess and bar tender. For the first course, the goat cheese soufflé or variation on that theme is always my favorite. Their seasonal salads like heirloom tomato are also excellent. Main courses are different every time I've been here, which is nice. Last time I got the salmon which was excellent and fresh. Desserts are the best here! Full of fresh seasonal fruit and dang you can't go wrong w the chocolate mousse and whipped cream. It's the best in Denver aside from making it myself. Dang it's good and rich. I really like the fact that this place is super farm to table, changes w the seasons, and I know I can get a clean meal here, customized to my dietary preferences. The menu also doesn't rely too heavily on pork which I appreciate. read more

My partner and I found ourselves with a free Saturday night and looked high and low for a fancier reservation to celebrate our upcoming pandemic-era wedding. Potager had an opening and was truly one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. Our server (I believe it was Alex?) gave us amazing recommendations including the burrata, peach lobster salad, tomato anything for the end of summer menu. We were then spoiled with some limoncello at the end of our meal when he found out we were celebrating our wedding in a week. Dining out right now feels a bit weird, but this was such a highlight of 2020 thus far. We will be back, likely very soon! read more

Went to Potager on a Tuesday night at about 6:30 without reservations. The main restaurant was packed, but there was availability on the enclosed and heated patio and it was delightful. The service was excellent and the food was superb. Great experience! read more

We were really looking forward to a wonderful meal out, but unfortunately we were very disappointed by Potager. Although we had a reservation it took an hour to be seated, and while we waited we were by and large ignored. While this might be expected at a generic restaurant, it made a trip to a nice restaurant unenjoyable. read more

This is my favorite restaurant ever. I feel like I'm eating fresh from a garden. I go here multiple times a year and enjoy their ever changing menu. Sitting out in the garden makes you feel like you are in a European getaway. I don't know why anyone wouldn't give this place a 5 star rating. Nothing compares to it. read more

It was my first time eating at Potager and I had high expectations from hearing my friend's feedback and Yelp reviews. Service was great, but the food was fairly mediocre. We had the mussels, souffle, meatballs, and creme brulee. The mussels had an extremely odd texture where they were abnormally soft and the seafood flavor you normally get with shellfish was a bit too grimey for lack of a better word. The spinach souffle was the saving grace of the dinner. Really good! The meatballs were okay but nothing to rave about. The creme brulee was a pretty big let down, I'm normally used to a creamy sweet filling for creme brulees. Potager's take would probably be best described as a Greek yogurt take where the filling is creamy, but it is also has too many hints of being tart. Overall a bit overpriced for run of the mill dishes that are not jaw dropping. read more

Love that they have half glasses. That made my experience so much more fun! The focus on seasonal fresh foods with delicious spices was noticeable from the second my nose entered the restaurant. Potager, I want to like you, but your food is not that good anymore and all you do is say no! We asked if they would slice up the roast chicken family style - NO! Instead they bring us cheapie steak knives. We ask if we can sit down before the rest of our party arrives so we can order wine and appetizers? No! We ended up spending $300 for four people. Can we put on name on the list while we walk over? No! The roast chicken was undercooked, greasy, and bland! Go to Plimoth or Acorn for the best roast chicken for the same price! Save your time and money and go to Acorn, Mercantile, Plimoth. The food is better and the staff and management are nicer! read more
