The gentleman there packed my sister's fragile glass artwork and shipped it to her in Missouri. She received it today and it was in perfect condition. I'm new in the area and it was my first time coming to this PostalAnnex+. I arrived at 10am right when they opened. A gentleman came and opened the door for me and the 3 others waiting. I loved the spacious store and the layout. But unfortunately that's where the positivity ends. Once I got to the counter an older lady was helping me. I asked about printing some papers, and she pointed me to a counter with a Business card on it with where to forward my information. After that I had to wait back in line and once I got to the front that same business card was there where she could of helped me with immediately. OR SHE COULD HAVE GIVEN ME THE INFO PERSONALLY. I asked her to make some copied a very specific way and before I could finish my request she picks up the work phone and starts to help the customer on the phone instead of the one staring her in the eyes. She puts the phone down to grab my copies and charges me for them. I then tell her again fully my request, and she denies it at first asking me if thats really how I want it. I then tell her yes. After I say yes she picks up the phone again and continues to help the other customers while I continue to wait. Finally her whole phone conversation is over and she finally gets me the papers I want. She also gave me the papers she messed up, not even telling me if she charged me for them or not. This company is the WORST for getting packages delivered! I have never had so many problems as I have with FEDEX and I will NOT order from any company who uses their delivery service again!! They lied about attempting delivery 2 days in a row as I work from home. No door tag was left on either occasion so there was no way to track it because THEY WERE NEVER THERE yet they make the notice as was not home or the business was closed! NEVER AGAIN! My daughter had three damaged packages delivered to her in December. They are the WORST!! Their automated system is a joke and cannot get you the information to tell you where the package is. The tracking number is too long so the system cannot take it in to check for it, so irritating!! Use UPS they are friendly and on time! read more

Recently, I shipped a family heirloom artwork through the La Mesa Postal Annex. The owner, Steve Clay, took a personal interest in the art piece, and took extra measures to assure that it would arrive safely. Unfortunately, despite his rigorous efforts, the artwork was ruined in transit. Fortunately, I had taken out additional insurance, and was able to collect the full amount thanks to Steve's constant communication FedEx, including being put on hold for up to an hour on several occasions. read more

Janelle and Steve are without doubt the finest people I've had the pleasure to work with shipping-wise in my 25 plus years in business (I am in the Classic Film biz and often ship items worth thousands of dollars). Everybody is your friend when you're spending money and all goes as planned, but it's the true measure of an individual and business when something goes amiss that requires attention & correction. Through no fault of their own, a Federal Express shipment of art was damaged in transit. Janelle stepped-up immediately, took complete charge of the situation and didn't let go until everything was made right. I only wish people like Janelle & Steve were the norm and not the exception, but I'm thankful that they are around! I've had to deal with such problems directly in the past and I can assure you it's not fun and never easy. Collectively we need to support small businesses such as these - you may occasionally save a buck or two going to a large corporate-run enterprise but you'll never get the personal attention and believe me that is worth a whole lot more. We have had to use several mailbox type stores over the years in various states and San Diego locations for business. This is by far the best one we have ever experienced! This is our third year with them and as long as we do business in this area, we will never leave them. The family team that owns it truly cares about their customers! The husband and wife are always there working hard. Reminds me of how hard my parents worked in their stores. They have done so many wonderful accommodations for people during this difficult season. If you have medical conditions that prevent a mask or face shield, they don't treat you like a 2nd class citizen because you have a disability. If you are high risk, they will do curbside for any of their services with just a phone call into the store. They have gone above and beyond to accommodate everyone during this tough time without making people feel bad. I wish more stores were so caring and competent! read more

I've been coming to the Postal Annex (it's at the Vons Shopping Center) since we moved to La Mesa last year. Living in San Diego has been a big transition for me, coming from small towns back East where everyone knows everyone else. I can honestly say this business is one of the handful of spots I have stumbled upon way out here in California that make me feel like I'm truly "at home." The owners are always happy to attend to your needs and willing to help in any way. They greet customers with a smile, and a warm conversation, and it feels like doing business with a neighbor. It's obvious they love running their business and appreciate their patrons. I've only ever shipped anything from their branch and it's incredibly nice to know that customer loyalty goes a long way here. Tonight, I forgot my debit card at home (I live 5 mins away, but they were closing in 5 minutes). I arrived in uniform after work -- I barely made it in time to ship everything I needed to send even if I'd had my card on my person. I was going to be on duty the next day, overnight, and wouldn't be able to visit the store again until Wednesday evening. Knowing my family lives all the way in New England and I was trying to get my holiday presents mailed to them in time, I they packaged my items and put it in a box to go out, allowing me to call in with my credit card # the following day. They also even gave me a packet of stamps because they trust I'll come back and follow up with payment. This was such a meaningful gesture to me and entirely in the Christmas spirit, although there's no snow or frost here in SoCal. Thanks for bringing me a smile every time I mail an item, and going above and beyond to help a busy servicemember get gifts sent to her family (they mentioned this was also their busiest time of the year and they hadn't stopped working all day). Not impressed at all. I stood and watched in awe as the blond woman (one of the owners?) literally put her hand up and told a customer "STOP", Myself and an older woman just stood there appalled that a business owner would even go there. Especially here? I grew up in La Mesa and consider it my home town. I know this place has been here a long time but sadly the experience there has made me start recommending the UPS store over at Baltimore and El Cajon Blvd. Apparently the UPS Store gets quite a few of the "Postal Annex" disgruntled customers and will actually give you a little special treatment to say---We value your business. It's another 2 minute drive for me to use the UPS store, but realistically, after the way i saw that woman throw up her arm like----Talk to the Hand.....stop. Again....STOP! read more

A place that I can mail stuff w/o waiting in those brutal post office lines,I'm so there. Before going here,I thought you just buy stamps & send copies/faxes. I had no idea you could ship packages. I went in with a box to mail and they even suppilied me with tape & a sharpie,the last time I went to the post office I was told I would have to buy a roll of their tape which was $6 bucks and they don't have anything to write with under the counter YEA RIGHT. How about you just don't want me to use your pens and you want me to pay $6.00 for a roll of tape that I'll probably never use again. Postal Annex is where I'll go from now on. There's a guy that works there that is really nice,he goes out of his way to help me each time. It's a lady there that looks like she just ate a lemon anytime I go in(sour face). I don't get what her prob is and she is rude,when I see her I don't even go to her line. I'm assuming she's only nice to the old men in there in hopes of getting a sugar daddy. If you see her run,if you see a guy talk to him. He's the only guy I've ever seen working there SUPER COOL. Low prices,no lines,fast service! Steve and Janelle, the owners, are hands down the greatest people on EARTH. They absolutely LOVE what they do, and LOVE people. They provide stellar customer service, and have a gift of hiring employees that are just like them too! Everyone is great! I was completely taken back by the few who reported them wearing face shields. The CDC states that as long as the face shield goes below the chin, and curves around the jaw, it can be accepted. THERES DOES! People also need to take under consideration that people who're hard of hearing rely on lip reading to communicate, which in their business, is a necessity as they deal with all kinds of people everyday who need special accommodations. It's also a form of medical discrimination towards them as not everyone is recommended by the CDC to wear a mask if they have previous pre existing health conditions related to the lungs. A face shield could be indeed their only option for protection as it's all their body will allow. Before you write a review, I'd recommend if you have an issue, stop hiding behind your phone and confront the owners in person. They follow ALL covid protocols, and take safety extremely serious.
