would have been a five star rating.... except for how it ended. I admit, we didn't drop in often to get the mail. it was probably not convenient enough to our house. But that doesn't mean they should shred our mail. yeah, so we had prepaid our mailbox for two years. so the two years come and go.... we aren't thinking about it... they aren't sending us a bill. So our box expires. They said they sent a couple of emails. fine, but they also had our phone numbers and our local address. The did send me an email in mid March. Of course I get spammed from them so I didn't pay attention to another email from them. We finally had one of our vendors call in mid April and say, your mail is getting bounced back to us. so we gave them a call... it's mid April btw, apparently our mailbox lease expired in February. no problem, how much do we owe? oh, yeah.... about that... we shredded your mail and rented the box to someone else. They are the nicest folks in the world, right up and until they shred your mail. To be honest we have some of our mail go to our house and some go to the pobox. We don't even know who needs to be contacted to change our address because they shredded the mail we would have used for that purpose. It's going to take a ton of work to straighten this all out. Screwed blued and tattooed for a $13.50 mail box. read more

I had such a positive experience at this location! The customer service here is exceptional. I actually left smiling . The staff was very responsive and friendly. I called in 3 minutes before closing and barely made it in but no one made me feel rushed and I didn't get the feeling that anyone was irritated because they wanted to leave. I used to go in here all the time to pay my gas and electricity bills. It was very handy and there was no extra charge. You can mail stuff here, they have greeting cards, stationary products, shipping supplies, mail boxes, etc. You can make copies and probably fax stuff, though I never needed to. The guy who works at the counter is a real grouch and the other employees aren't very friendly but it was still worth going in there if I needed to take care of the bill so it wouldn't be late. They do Western Union also--does anybody still use that? It is conveniently located in the Von's Shopping Center, known as La Mesa Springs Center. read more

Steve helped me mail my first letter to my boyfriend in bootcamp and I would just like to say how much I appreciate his above and beyond service to make sure my letters get to him as soon as possible. When I mentioned I wanted to send my bf some stamps, Steve suggested I send envelopes with stamps already on them instead to make it easier for my military man. This is just an update and we've been with this particular Postal Annex for over 10 years and they continue to be the best! Prior to this, we had been with at least three other postal services and this location has been and still is, by far the best! Everyone there has always been great and now with Gracie and Phoebe, better than ever! The previous places we tried were ok, but some looked like mini flea markets, very unorganized, and also didn't provide the kind of service this particular business offers. They do sell other items, but it is well organized and they seem to be selective in what they offer. The owners are hands on and everyone there are just nice people!! Plus, we have had a post office box all along and they are great at sending anything you might have, but also receiving items, which is key for us! No need to be at home to receive mail and packages, nor to stand in line at USPS to send out packages! I hate sound like a commercial, but this Postal Annex in La Mesa is the best and has always been! read more

I write this review with much regret but I feel people should be educated to make the best choice for themselves. I've been using this annex for years to support my local business. The owners are wonderful. But with the covid pandemic it frustrates me that the owners feel masks are not for them. The staff wears them yes and owners are wearing face shields but that is NOT protection against droplets or germs : I'm an ICU nurse so I know what I'm talking about : the face shield still requires a cough mask. At times I've even seen them in the back without masks at all and now the holiday season is here the volume of business they are doing can Potentially lead to infecting somebody especially our elder population and immune compromised community. It is with a heavy heart that I will now have to take my business elsewhere. No hard feelings but I feel this is a responsibility of a business owner to comply completely as I have to in my job to protect the public. Stay healthy and safe read more

Was glad to go here as extremely long lines at Post Office this week and the young women who worked there were very helpful and wore masks. BUT the older folks there who I assume are owners DONT WEAR MASKS! This is during the HEIGHT of the pandemic (restaurants are not allowed to have even outdoor dining due to so few hospital beds left in our county from COVID). We talked about leaving but had numerous heavy boxes and thankfully the young women worked front desk were very fast but this is VERY UNSAFE as the rooms are not large (not like it's a warehouse ). One of the older folks had NO MASK at all and the other only wore a face shield (this does NOT protect from breathing in air around you or your own breath easily escaping out the sides infecting your staff and customers). As a nurse who deals with COVID I can't stop thinking about this. We now have about 6 times as many COVID cases in our hospital as we did a month ago and across the county very few ICU beds left! They clearly have very little regard for their staff or customers during this pandemic. read more

We have lived in La Mesa for over 30 years and We LOVE our local Postal Annex owned by Steve and Janelle! I am in there at least 3 times per month mailing packages, purchasing boxes, packing envelopes, or handfuls of their hard to resist cards. They are extremely efficient and accommodating! They always help me select the most direct method to help my packages arrive on time! They make all of their customers feel like family and my husband and I would trust them with our lives. They graciously survived the civil unrest that took place back in May and due to the community support were back and running on the following Monday morning. I have only positive remarks about the postal annex. I flew out of town to attend twitch con and stayed at an air bnb in La Mesa with friends. You end up with lots of loot at a convention like twitchcon so I had no choice but to ship what didn't fit in my suitcase home. My items were secured and packaged with fragile stickers in a big enough box and sent on their way. We talked with the business owners for what seemed like forever, I really hope we can visit La Mesa again just to stop by here! I travel a lot so I need a box, but I hate going to the Post Office, with their too often inadequate parking, long lines, and no flexibility to provide needed services. But then I discovered this Postal Annex outfit. They also provide private mailboxes and handle packages, certified mail and such, but they're way faster, friendlier and a lot more flexible about meeting my particular needs, whatever they are. They offer a lot more services than I will ever need and they even forward my mail to me wherever and whenever I request it (by phone call or email). And when I'm in town, I'm usually able to park right in front of the door, pop-in and pop-out with my stuff. It's great. Way better. So if you're over the Post Office or just require more services than they provide, check this place out. It's fast, friendly, helpful, and family-run. I had been very disappointed with U.S.P.S. and UPS! They had both lost items and customer service also displeasing. So my last straw was FedEx. I decided to research FedEx stations and came across postal annex stations and there was Postal Annex La Mesa with outstanding reviews compared to others. I called and spoke to a very cordial and sweet Gracie. I drove over and found them located in La Mesa Springs mall. It's a family owned business, and I was waited on by the Mrs. of the business, Ms. Gennelle. She too was cordial and informative. I was pleased with the pricing, and the delivery date. And while there I met Gracie, who was answering phones in the back. She came out to meet me. My envelope was delivered next day prior to designated time, safe and secure! This has been our go-to place for notarizing docs, mailing packages quickly and now...passport photos. We have an upcoming trip and realized our passports would expire before the trip ends. Panic? No...just headed to PostalAnnex+ and the fine folks there took photos, talked to us about adding the passport card, got the shipping envelope and label all set up (already have our information stored), and made sure all was signed, sealed and ready to deliver. The good is that they provide a lot of services from shipping, to paying bills, to copies, faxing, and they have a great deal of retail items to purchase. The service is pretty fast too. Also the owner is a friendly guy who cares about his customers and treats them with gratitude. He smiles and conveys appreciation for his customers. I come here for convenience but I have to say they are over priced. I shipped out a box a month ago and of course it didn't get to the location as "promised" sadly the box was for a baby shower. So it was semi ruined. I'm here again because it's right next to my bank but this time I have a small box. Dam box cost more than the stuff that's in the box. I knew I shouldn't of did it but, I did.
