Living across the street, I end up at the Postal Annex quite a bit. They are always so friendly and extremely helpful. I am usually just shipping or sending out a piece of mail, but they have so many other things that they offer at very reasonable rates. I took a class to get my notary public the other day and I needed to get a passport picture taken so I went to the Postal Annex. Within minutes I had the two pictures in my hand and for ten dollars it was a great deal. The gentlemen working behind the counter told me that they also do live scan fingerprinting and their prices were the cheapest around. I love this store and I love how nice the employees always are when I walk through the door. read more

Unfortunately the reviews are true for this place. Small place but in a big shopping center. I went on a Saturday morning and the owner was about 7 minutes late. There was already a line before he opened. I went there for a live scan and it was a little confusing because he didn't tell you the next step. When I had to put my finger down for a print he would hold my fingers down. I know most people do it wrong but I personally don't like people touching me. He couldn't have given me a heads up. The owner was sneezing every I really hope he wasn't sick. So he was trying to help two three people at once and it got a little annoying because when it was my turn he was helping other people. My recommendation is finish with the person you're helping. Overall not the best experience but wasn't horrible. read more

My son dropped off my college rental books to return them and the guy took them but hey never sent them. I checked the tracking number and they never left the store. I called and asked if hey could please look around and see if maybe they got misplaced. They guy just looked at the tracking and told me he couldn't do anything. I have had a mail box here for about 10 years, and it's been a godsend. I shop online and I can count on my purchases being received and kept for me until I can retrieve them, during their business hours. No deliveries are taken from my doorstep, and I know they are safe. Just be aware that if you get a tracking notice that your package will arrive in the evening or on a day they are not open, Sunday - such as with some Amazon Prime deliveries, they will have to do delivery the next business day. You can prevent that by being specific in your shipping dates when ordering. The convenience is great - and the money spent well worth it to me. Go somewhere else unless you have a bunch of extra $! I went here the for the second time today. The first time was to send a large package in the US. I had already gotten the rates from USPS. When I got to Concord Postal Annex, the owner (i believe) insisted that USPS was the most expensive way to ship and that I should ship this huge package via FedEx. This method was $100 over what I was quoted online by USPS. Even though I told him that, he insisted that I should ship FedEx. I thought, ok maybe a fluke I will try again. I went today to send a 10 lb package to Hong Kong via DHL or FedEx whatever was cheapest. He quoted me just over $400. I reminded him that I wanted the cheapest way. He hemmed and hawed and eventually said he could get it there for $330. Like an idiot I just did it because it was hot and I had chores on my list. When I got home and calculated shipping via the same details, FedEx quoted me $232. USPS quoted just over $100. Another clue should have been when the dude behind wanted one stamp. The guy told him 55 cents. The customer misheard him and laid down 75 cents and said this outloud. The owner/clerk looked at the change and said nothing and gave him the stamp. read more

Who knew this hole in the wall can do almost everything! Located in the Trader Joes shopping center, you can get your finger printing (This service I came for and it was only $18, a STEAL compared to the $78 Concord PD was trying to charge me PLUS I didn't have to make an appointment) to postal service, to notary to passports photographs. I mean EVERYTHING. Beats driving to the post office, PD, Sears (to copy keys) when they can basically do it all at one stop. They were quite busy when I went in first thing in the morning but they were very attentive to every customer that walked in, making sure they were acknowledged. Definitely the best one-stop shop for postal and printing needs! Excellent place in my opinion. Great customer care. Friendly and patient people. Owner knows most customers by name since he has so many loyal, regular patrons (myself included, I'm there about 3 times a week minimum since I have a mailbox there.) I have seen customers worried about irregular shaped items and the best ways to ship them. The employees know exactly what to do picking out the right packaging and shipping materials together putting the customer's mind at ease. High quality and wide variety of printing services are offered. I've seen them do anything from small copy/print jobs to commercial banners/yard sign/car magnet requests to name a few. What I love about having a mailbox here specifically is that you don't get a PO Box address. Your address is the physical street address of the Postal Annex with your box # following it (Ex: 785 Oak Grove Rd E/2 #000 Concord CA 94518). The great and convenient advantages of this are we know many companies will not deliver to a PO Box and here you can receive packages! This saves me so much time and works out perfect since they are open till 6.30 most days. I was tired of receiving USPS, FedEx, UPS and DHL notices on my apt. door saying I had to wait another day or pick up my package myself at their local office. Even if they dropped it at my apt. leasing office I would have to wait a day or more because they close at about 5 and I'm not back home by then because of my work schedule. I even had my live Christmas tree delivered here. They called me in a timely manner to say it arrived and I picked it up that evening. In addition to getting a mail box to use when you sign up for that service, they also provide you with a fax number that you can receive faxes at. Fabulous! This location is the closest to my house. I've used this location 3 times in the last year and 2 of those times they lost my package. Don't waste your time or money. Find another location. I'd drive an hour out of my way if I had to in order to save me from the headaches I've had to deal with. Luckily there are 3 other locations within a couple minutes that are reliable. It's funny how you have to pay extra for your package to arrive sooner then letter and yet it still arrives later. I put my apartment number on my order and when I check the delivery address on the website it's not on there. Then I get a message saying "they couldn't find the right address " and will try again tomorrow. Then when tomorrow comes. My delivery won't come until after 4pm. Why the hell am I put off so far in the day. Seriously a waist of 10 dollars. So disappointing. read more

I came in here to get my finger printed and stood in line. I was the only person in line. The worker who was there was assisting someone there already but didn't acknowledge me. The customer and worker seemed very focused on what they were doing and they both saw me standing in line (10 feet away) but didn't say anything. I must have been in line for a good 5 minutes with out any acknowledgement or a, "Hello, I'll be with you in a few minutes." I felt invisible, ignored and akward standing there so I went to Pete's Coffee next door to get coffee. I returned 15 minutes later with my coffee in hand and this time the worker immediately greeted me and helped me with my finger prints. The finger printing process was fairly quick and I was out in about 15 minutes. While I was being finger printed, other customers walked in and the worker immeidately greeted them and said that he'd be with them as soon as he was done with me. I don't know why I didn't receive the same treatment the first time but it certainly did not make for a good and fair customer experience. read more

Very unreliable business. Since this location is across the street from my house I have come twice now on my way to work to quickly drop some mail off or to send out a package. Twice now I have sat outside this business, with lights off, doors locked and shop closed when the business hours clearly state they open at 9. Last time someone finally came at 9:15, today it's 9:08 and no one here. Mother's day package I HAVE to mail out today so I guess I'll be late for work AGAIN thanks to whomever doesn't respect customer time. Avoid this business if your time is of the essence. read more

When I finally had a chance to talk to me,he babbled something at me & literally pushed me off to the side while he waited on other customers & completely ignored me. Incompetent notary. The notary elected to use her own form and used the wrong document. This resulted in substantial delays and issues and the documents have to be notarized a second time. Additionally, the notary failed to attach the document that she used to the associated document, resulting a free-floating notarization that could have been attached to any document. A complaint has been filed with the California Secretary of State seeking revocation of her commission. The grammar in the response from the business speaks for itself regarding the quality of the work. Moreover, the business has misstated the response from the Secretary of State's office--while the Secretary of State's office did not find sufficient error to revoke the license of the Notary Public, the Notary Public was admonished for poor practices. read more

Called the store and voicemail just says leave a message. Clearly someone overslept! Owner showed up at 9:20. First and last time dropping a package off here. A couple weeks ago I stopped by to drop off a package for the business I work for. I had to return some things to another company. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted. I just stood at the counter. Finally the lady working there acknowledged me, but from the other side of the store. I told her I was there to drop off a FedEx package and she told me to leave it on the counter and went back to whatever she was doing. So I did. Now, two weeks later, I have a company wondering where their package is. It never got sent or scanned in. There is no record of this package ever being sent or leaving the Postal Annex. I went back in today to check and see what might have happened. The lady has no idea where the package is and apparently it's "lost." I understand that people make mistakes but the fact that there was no remorse or "sorry" kind of irritates me. At least try and look for it or something. Talking to me from the back of the store and not giving customers full attention doesn't give me the confidence that you're doing your job or even care. I've only seen the same lady working in here, but I really hope they have other employees that know what customer service means. read more

Very helpful staff. They happily take all prepaid UPS shipping boxes of any size if you are sending back items from Amazon. They happily give receipts if asked on those items. They do all normal shipping too. Notary is fast and economical. The owner is very personal and friendly. Great place to go. read more

This place is great! When I realized commute traffic left small chance of arriving at the Postal Annex before close, I called the business to check. The man on the phone told me he would wait for me to get there, and let me know that I was getting near. When I found that I had brought the incorrect form to complete my background check, he provided me a blank form, and allowed me to call home and fill it out over the phone. They made a mistake overcharging for a Livescan because they chose the wrong category. When it was brought to my attention by the Department of Justice they denied it and wanted proof and when I supplied it they still gave a hard time about it. Rather than reimburse me the fees they charged for Livescan they said they couldn't. I paid $27 extra for their mistake that they tried to deny. I will not be sending any future employees here again. read more

You wouldn't expect that from a postal store but walk around to the back and there is the trucks. I got great service when I rented the truck that I went back there for some mailing supplies. Well, I'm not a happy camper with the way this store handles the USPS incoming mail. We have had a Private Mail Box here for a number of years. By and large, the service is adequate. We don't retrieve our mail every day and sometimes not for up to 2 weeks when on vacation. The staff puts the overflow mail into a bag outside the little mail slot we have. When packages from USPS, FedEx, or UPS arrive, they usually put a notice in the box. OK, fine. But there are hangups. Sometimes, we don't get a package notice. Occasionally, mail is misdirected to us from another box. If mail is misdirected to us, our mail is probably being put into someone else's box, too, and what happens to it then? The mail is supposed to be delivered by 12:30 by USPS, but I've come in to pick up mail late in the afternoon and it hadn't been put up yet, so I'd have to wait while the mail was shuffled through. One time, a package with a USPS tracking number was lost somewhere between the sort facility at the Todos Santos office on East Street and the Postal Annex. The Annex folks looked high and low for it, but it was never found. Probably a piece of misdirected mail that the unintended receiver didn't bother to return. Occasionally, the Annex will close unexpectedly in the afternoon. There are other announced closures, but ANY closure is a real nuisance. I've spoken to them about these problems, but they keep happening. We are reluctant to get our mail at our residence because the mobilehome park management refuses to have proper curbside boxes, and the mail gets wet! We also have lots of packages sent by carriers including USPS. So we need a PMB. It's too darn convenient to Wells Fargo and Trader Joes to give it up. read more
