About 3 years ago I got a PO Box here & began to mail a number of things for my business. I was a regular customer but NEVER experienced particularly friendly service, and often felt I was treated rather rudely when asking questions, like it was a huge bother for them to look something up.
They closed out my PO Box for being a few days late with a payment (I was out of town & it was only a few days), and would not budge on making me reopen it with all new "reopen" fees plus the regular fee. I even waited another day to go back in & talk with a manager that this seemed a little unreasonable since I still had my box there & nothing had changed & had been a customer over a year.
They would not budge & demanded the additional fees. I told her that the $50 (or so) they were asking for now was going to lose them a regular customer, & she basically did not care.
I vowed never to go back there, & instead used Stamps .com & my post office which has been an unbelievable savings & relief for the past number of years.
Yesterday, I just happened to be in the same shopping plaza with 2 items I needed to ship, so I thought I would go in & use a few flat rate envelopes I normally use for my business. The Post office Flat Rate envelope I use is $5.15 no matter where it is shipped. When I use my Stamps .com account it's only $4.90 & I also get a free tracking number, but I thought it would be more convenient just this once to try the store again.
I went in & was greeted with the usual lack of friendliness and was told that the FLAT RATE envelope of $5.15 would be $7.95 each. I said, "But it's a flat rate envelope, & it only costs $5.15." The gal there said, "We mark it up, it's $7.95." I repeated that the post office only charges this flat amount & the envelopes are free for anyone, including the store, so why is it marked up so much? She gave me an eye roll, some more attitude, and was just rude in her tone. She also told me that shipping the DVD I had would be $9 if I wanted a tracking number.
I was again surprised at the utter & complete lack of the customer service concept or experience, told them I would go home & use my own account & post office, and that's what I did.
Now I really & officially, will never spend one dime in here. Markup my as*. read more
