I've used their printing services for marketing projects, and on a separate occasion, I learned a lot about the type of ink my printer needs thanks to their knowledgeable team. It turns out there are several cartridges that fit into one printer, which was surprising. My husband and I also come here for our office materials, including computer chairs and smaller desk essentials. This Staples is also situated in a plaza with plenty of eateries. Staples offers people discounts for joining their rewards program. After joining, I noticed that all of the discounts have restrictions on almost everything that people want. They exclude about 70 % of things that they carry. Doesn't apply to most office supplies which is the reason for people going to their stores. I blocked them and will never return. read more

I go in at 8:30 in the morning to have just a couple of items laminated. Besides me, there is one other customer in the store. The laminating person said I would have to wait until this evening to pick up my small order of what is being laminated, or pay a 30% rush fee! Because I needed it this morning, I said I would pay the 30% rush fee. Then the girl tells me that my items won't be ready for 20 minutes. Why in the world would I pay a 30% rush fee and then have to wait 20 minutes? Again, there was only one other person in the store as a customer besides me. read more

This is my backup store when the Staples closest to me is sold out. It seems like a much larger store than the Vista store. Or maybe they just stock more items without as much clutter. Prices are as to be expected. Instore and online prices can vary, so often I'll check and if the online prices are cheaper, order online and then do a 1 hour pickup. Save money and earn miles and points. Win, win! Employees are helpful and mostly happy and there usually isn't much wait. Parking can be tricky because it's surrounded by restaurants and there's just one entrance into and out of the strip mall. DO NOT COME HERE FOR YOUR AMAZON RETURNS. I got there and saw a line that was already 7 or 8 people long for returns at the front of the store, and then by the time i left (literally 28 minutes later) there were another 10 or more people behind me. They only had one employee doing the returns AND they had him be the cashier as well. So if someone got in a separate line to buy something, he had to stop the return line and take care of all of those people and then go back when he was finished ringing them up. What was really astonishing was all the other employees watching from afar over at the printing center, doing absolutely nothing to help. No one apologized for the wait time or inconvenience. It wasn't until the very end of my time there that another employee came over to help him. He was so nice and was moving as fast as he could so it's not his fault, but WOW I could not believe how poorly this place was run. WTF! When did high pressure sales become their thing? I bought a laptop today, and the sales person kept pushing for me to purchase a warranty. The warranty costs almost as much as the laptop. Staples offers a plethora of office supplies, computer equipment, office furniture, backpacks, snacks, etc. There is a wide variety of brand names to choose from and their products come in all kinds of colors, flavors, options, etc. They definitely have a larger selection than some of their competitors and they have other services like ups, copying, etc. There is usually someone walking around checking in on your making sure that you are getting help and answers to all of your questions. Sometimes their pricing is competitive or they have a sale or coupon. Don't forget to join their loyalty club so you get the coupons and discounts, sometimes they are truly good deals like $10 off $10, $5 off $5, $10 off $20, etc. read more

Passport photo is my topic of concern. I had my passport photo taken at Staples in Carlsbad, and when I got home I showed my daughter, who is a photographer, and showed her how awful I look in the photo. She said you don't look like that !! Unfortunately, the stores lighting is not good or professional. The background lighting is bright, which causes an issue. I paid $16.00 for a bad photo, and I need to have the photo retaken. I'm so disappointed in the quality of the photo since I thought Staples would follow some sort of standard guidelines. read more

Ok, so I was getting my booster shot at Rite Aid earlier. I figure the deal on free lamination for my Mom at the Staples one in Mission Valley, so I came to this one here without asking anything. Instead I went straight to the printing center and asked the employee to get my card laminated. It was a bit odd, that he printed out the entire big lamination of my card without cutting it, when I asked him, he said it would be a dollar extra; so I was like huh? Then he gave a piece of paper telling me to go to the front and someone would "take care" of me. Again I am confused. So I went out and was stopped by an employee asking if I was gonna pay for it. So I told him what I was told before about free lamination for your Covid-19's card, another employee came out and explained to me, that was a month ago and it was discontinued. That's not what I read, because it seems like they extended to no further notice, I even said I got my Mom's card done for free at the other location just a few hours ago. So she finally said we had stopped doing it at this location and your total is $3.11 Well, I am completely frozen, but it must be the patience and calmness that I had gave me another chance. They decided to let me go with my big giant laminated uncut Covid card, I even apologized to them for not asking them before anything. Lessons learned. read more

Do NOT go here for TSA Precheck. I waited for over an hour after my appointment time had passed, with no one sharing any kinds of expectations around if I would be seen. I arrived at 330 for a 350 appt. There were already ~5 people waiting. The appointment that was being seen didn't leave until 4pm. They took 2 more people and at 450 they came out and said they had to close due to IT issues. (Funny that their posted hours said 9a-5p). In the course of the intervening hour another 3-4 people had arrived. While the IT systems are not the fault of Staples, they failed to provide any communication until after it went from behind to unavailable to process appointments. If they get behind they need to cancel appointments or at the very least communicate what's going on. I know that the staples employees are using equipment provided by a government contractor, so it's not their fault, but don't set yourself up for disappointment. read more

I rarely need flyers printed but another homeowner had distributed flyers and launched a race for a write-in candidate for the homeowners association (HOA). With only a week left for ballots to arrive at the HOA election office, I need flyers on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. Darli, Copy & Print Associate, Certified Print Pro did the most amazing job; she confirmed that she happened to be slow and would be able to turn the order around the same day. Within 45 minutes, my color print job was ready to pick up. Getting the order the same day made all the difference. I was able to distribute the flyers early Labor Day morning and ended up winning the HOA position as a write-in candidate a week later. read more

This is in regards to TSA Precheck. I had an appointment at 3:40 PM and arrived at 3:30 PM as the email directed me to arrive 10 minutes early. Upon my arrival, there were several people waiting for the TSA Precheck services. There was no way for me to check in. The same employee who was conducting appointments was also in charge of taking the information of people who arrived. He had a clip board and would handwrite the person's name and whether or not they had an appointment. At a Staples, you would think there would be a more sophisticated and efficient way to check in. Ideally you should be able to digitally check in upon arrival (either at a kiosk or on your phone). This would relieve the employee from having to do both jobs as well as expedite the process and hopefully prioritize those who have appointments over walk-ins. I was finally seen at 4:00 (20 minutes after my appointment) and the gentleman who conducted the appointment was professional and friendly, though didn't seem to feel any sense of urgency or apologize for the wait (to me or any of the people waiting after me). This process needs to be revisited to improve its efficiency. read more

Over the past month and a half, my fiance and I went to this location to get our TSA PreCheck done. Both times, the person that's supposed to do the review of paperwork called out. There is no other staff that can assist in this service. Bad management of service and personnel led to no backup of the service being offered. We both had appointments and were not notified of the change. The closest location that offers this service is about an hour away. Management needs to figure out how to provide the service and have a backup when needed. Maybe the management should get approved and/or certified to provide the service at this location. read more

Get this, staples service people tells me usually when this happens we tell people to walk to the coffee shop and come back and the code will appear in their email box. Update: the reply with the print code finally arrived at 1:28 PM, 3 hours later. For those road warriors that work outside the office, don't waist your time at Staples. Their print service worked great 4 months ago. This has happened to me twice in the last 30 days. Other than that, more industrial than anything else, but not far from neighborhoods and other commercial establishments. They carry all the basics and then some for office supplies. I don't typically review brick and mortar shops because most employees are simply your average individual trying to make a living sometimes friendly but mostly impolite. However, that is not the case with particular Staples. Their employees were all really helpful and excited to help any customer out. While I was there, there were several employees that came up and asked if I needed anything but did so with a smile which I feel is rare. Unfortunately, I could not find the product I wanted to buy but I asked the manager on shift and she really took a great deal of time to help me. First she checked the entire store but once she could not find the item she searched other stores inventory. What surprised me was what happened next, she offered to call each individual store that may have had the item in stock and took a good 15-20 minutes to help me. I never got her name but she was a Hispanic looking lady with long hair, very helpful and made the whole shopping experience much better. I've been here many of times before for some late printing runs and things that I've needed for meetings or events. Most of the time when I come, I usually interact with a female who helps me the best she can and she's nice, friendly, but doesn't really smile which is a bit of a downer because I feel like she would be a nice person. I came last night because I needed some printing things done for a meeting and was helped by a guy named Aaron. He was super helpful and let me know that the Do It Yourself printer machines weren't working due to a connection error, but was able to help me behind the counter. He was able to pull up my files on my memory stick and dealt with me cause I just could not remember for the life of me what I had named my files. He was great nice and really friendly.
