Absolutely disgusting experience with Ashlynd at Pools By Design AZ. I had to delay my pool project and financing for a year because I was battling cancer. Instead of showing an ounce of compassion, decency, or professionalism, Ashlynd chose to be rude, condescending, and outright demeaning. She talked down to me, belittled me over the communication gap, and made it very clear she wanted me to feel small over my financial timing. Let that sink in: I was considering paying this company $80,000, and this is how I was treated. It was arrogant, cruel, and completely unacceptable. No customer should ever be chastised or made to feel "less than," especially while dealing with a life-altering medical crisis. That interaction told me everything I needed to know about this company. I took my business elsewhere, and I strongly recommend others do the same. If this is how Pools By Design AZ treats people before they even get your money, I can only imagine how bad things get after. read more

Read your contract. They sold me old parts and over charged my contact by more than 50 thousand. Don't use them!!!!!

Contacted them to have someone come out and do an estimate to redo our whole pool area, and add a heater to our pool do year-round use. They sent out someone named Bob, who started off by showing up an hour early without any warning. When I told him generally what we wanted done, he was hyper focused on the heater portion of the project -- specifically implying that it would be "really expensive," which is stated in a way that heavily implied we couldn't afford it. Once my wife had come down to the pool area, I tried to let her start telling him about our plans. He basically repeated his statements about the cost to her, being even more condescending, and then pretty much refused to address her at all. This was despite me having told him before she came outside that this is HER project, HER plan, SHE is the sole income earner of our household etc. He finally told us (really, told ME, since he wasn't speaking to both of us) that we would need one of their design people to come out to work with us and that he just does the pool overhaul stuff. My wife told him that this is what we wanted, to which he said "well, and you know that's not FREE." He said he would get one of them to call us that day to schedule, but that never happened. This man clearly thought that a woman both couldn't possibly make a good enough living to pay for what we want, and that she is also incapable of being in charge of a project like this. I sent an email to the company the same day telling them that we'd like to have a designer come out, and describing the weird, patronizing and misogynistic attitude that Bob had. I never got a response. I have made multiple attempts to speak to someone in charge there, but no one returns my calls. At this point, we wouldn't want to hire them anyway, but I very much want an apology for Bob's attitude. read more

We just finished our pool! We couldn't be happier with the outcome! They are so amazing to work with! We worked with Maryanne and Mike mostly, but they are all so professional. We had an appointment with the owner of Pools by Design at 8am and he never showed up or even called us. I also talked to another person today and he said he supposedly had 3 different appts. with him and he never showed up for him either. I definitely would not advise any one to use them for a pool company especially when the owner doesn't show up for an appointment. I would give them 0 stars if that was possible. read more

We had originally gone to a well known company in the area. It didn't take long to figure out their customer service was terrible. Then, we found Pools by Design, and are so glad we made the decision to have them build our pool. We walked in with no appointment, and we were meeting with Ashlynd with a few minutes. Very thorough and honest on pricing and what would be included. During the design process, she was always there with any questions we had, and was really helpful with what we needed to submit to our HOA. Jake, our project manager kept in touch throughout the process, and was incredibly knowledgable and responsive to any questions. The front desk, as well as finance also were super friendly and helpful to work with. The entire project couldn't have gone smoother, and we now have an awesome pool in less than the original timeframe. We couldn't be happier with everyone we dealt with at Pools by Design! read more
