Tucson Professional Landscaping - Water feature Before

We are very pleased with Tucson Professional Landscaping for doing our patio extension project…read more Right from the first contact, Eddie was prompt and professional. Easy appointment set up to look at the job. He was patient and explained what the job would entail. He put his bid in writing and there was no pressure. We had enough time to make an informed decision. He and his crew showed up within the window of agreed upon and finished 2 days earlier than the promised completion date! The crew was polite and punctual. They were careful and made sure our outdoor furniture were out of the way. The clean up at completion was very decent. Eddie made sure the our irrigation system was working properly and did a walk through with me prior to taking the final payment. The litmus test for me was when our new patio extension got two thumbs up from the Mrs!

This is an example of what I recently wrote to the owner after their last visit...... Your crew today did an excellent job !. I am very pleased with how they operated and worked together. They were very conscientious and completed things according to my every request. This seemed to be a different crew from last visits but it didn't matter, they were very well informed and answered all my questions. Good to know that all your crew are a reflection of how your company operates. They maintain our landscaping and irrigation system on a monthly basis, do every request, and get the job done in half the time of our previous company. Hard workers that show up on time and are very responsive to our requests.

She designed unique railings which helped define our patio space, chose comfortable and affordable furniture, and helped guide the much-needed change from an asphalt to an aggregate (concrete) driveway. We are very happy with the low care desert landscape. She encouraged us to spend extra money on a new locally made metal door, and to forego other changes we were considering that (I now realize) would have been a waste of money. We get a ton of compliments on our new bright green bench (made from recycled bottles) and our custom door! Kathryn was always available, and saw the work through from design to fabrication to installation. The contractors she introduced to complete the project were also a pleasure to work with. Kathryn brings enthusiasm and energy to the table, and is very talented. We were so happy with the work she did outside for us that we found some smaller indoor projects for her to help us with as well. She has been beyond fair with the pricing. If I could give her ten stars I would...

Our experience with Kathryn Pirdeux was absolutely unacceptable and, frankly, one of the worst…read moreexperiences we have had with any professional involved in our home project. I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring her to think very carefully before paying her any money. The entire process dragged on endlessly. It took an unreasonable amount of time just to receive the landscape design, and throughout that process there was virtually no meaningful discussion with us about what we wanted, how the design was evolving, or whether it actually reflected our vision for the property. When the design was finally delivered, after all that time and expense, we found the overall quality to be substandard and nowhere close to what we expected from someone presenting herself as a professional landscape designer. What was especially frustrating was the constant focus on billing. It felt as though every conversation, every minute, and every interaction meant another charge. We were paying and paying while seeing very little meaningful progress or value in return. In our experience, collecting fees seemed to be handled with far more urgency than actually delivering a thoughtful, high-quality landscape design. Even worse, after taking our money, we were essentially left high and dry. There was no proper collaborative review of the final landscape plan with us and, to our knowledge, no submission of the landscape plans to the HOA. We were left wondering exactly what we had paid all this money for. This is not remotely the level of professionalism we expected for a custom home project. A professional designer should listen to the client, communicate, collaborate, provide timely work, produce a design commensurate with the fees being charged, and follow the project through. Our experience with Kathryn was the opposite: excessive delays, poor communication, constant billing, a disappointing design, and ultimately no satisfactory completion of the work. The most upsetting part is that we trusted her with an important and expensive part of our home and paid her expecting professional service. Instead, we were left with an enormous sense that we had spent a significant amount of money and received remarkably little in return. I would absolutely not hire Kathryn Pirdeux again, and I cannot recommend her based on our experience. Anyone considering working with her should insist on a detailed written scope, specific deliverables, firm deadlines, a clear limit on billable time, responsibility for HOA submissions, and defined payment milestones before paying anything. Our biggest regret is that we did not walk away sooner.

Southwest Valley Contracting - doubled the size of our backyard

I searched for a masonry contractor, call a half dozen, three came out to the site, and we really "clicked" with Braulio. He grew up in his father's and uncle's construction business and has now branched out on his own. I cannot recommend Southwest Valley Contracting highly enough. Braulio and his employees (including his brother and cousin) are polite, prompt, and know their stuff. Braulio communicated both in person and via text multiple times throughout the process to be sure we were always on the same page. He listened to our ideas and concerns and then gave us his professional insight. His price was right in line with the bids from the other two contractors and very fair considering the brute labor required in 100+ temperatures! They demolished our existing wall and began trenching for the new footer in one day. Then the rebuild began with perfect integration to the existing wall. They even came on the weekend to finish what they started. Plus, they regraded the backyard, fixed a couple of broken irrigation drip lines and cleaned up all their construction debris. In less than 2 weeks, we had doubled the sized of our backyard! Our beautiful new wall is stuccoed and ready for paint. We will definitely call SWVC when we're ready to put in our fireplace and pavers. Even our neighbor was so impressed he wants to use them for his next project.

In a final attempt, I asked for a referral, and they gave Braulio's info and high praises. They were right! Braulio answered all questions in a very knowledgable manner, gave the second lowest price out of six bids, and was the most professional across the board. Even hitting a snag with the project, which is not uncommon in construction, he made sure there was communication, follow through, and resolution. I couldn't ask for anything more. He did a great job and at a reasonable price. Even with me being a bit of a control freak, Braulio never missed a beat. We made sure that there was clarity on what I wanted, what he could provide, and if it was a good fit. This project was for cutting back my block wall and widening the gate opening, as well as using a composite material for pickets versus wood. We are very pleased! We have already discussed that we will call on him again when we are ready for our paver/gas firepit addition. I don't give recommendations freely but will for Braulio and Southwest Valley Contracting!
