Spontaneously went here on a Tuesday because my bf decided he wanted poke . Saw the ratings and reviews so I wanted to give it a try. It looks like a family owned business. For my bowl I got 2 salmons and 1 hamachi scoops with sushi rice , cucumber , onions , crab , seaweed salads, corns and the list goes on. For my sauce I got the wasabi Mayo with the house sauce extra spicy and let me tell you it was spicy alright ... It was burning my soul so try it at your own risk if you enjoy the heat like me LOL I also wish they have scallops here as a protein. He got the same base but his proteins were all salmon and he got spicy for his sauce with spicy Mayo as well. He also got different toppings than I do. This place only have a few selection with their sauces. I enjoy the simplicity of the bowl but if I enjoy simple poke then I would go to a authentic Hawaiian poke place instead. I honestly thought the cut of the protein would be bigger but it's extremely small... so I don't think it was worth it for a regular bowl that's worth 13 bucks including tax . Their selection of toppings was ok too nothing really stood out to me. The portion for everything was smaller than other places I've tried. Service was great ! Affordable and quality poke! I've been visiting over the years and notice the same people working, which i'm assuming are family members. Food here is awesome. Their bowl size choices are great and have a great variety of proteins + add-ons. The protein are always fresh and tastes great. I do appreciate that their greens are washed carefully. A lot of poke places i've been to serve greens that have the black ends. Poki Run also have special sauces for toppings (mango, blueberry,...). I got the blueberry sauce (pictured). For the base, they got the purple rice! And in terms of toppings, I think the apple is a good addition to the poke, it's crunchy, juicy and a bit sweet, I prefer apple over pineapple for the poke. Love it! I got there a little bit before noon and it was empty but I have a feeling I got there just in time. By the time I was paying two people arrived. They have a limit of 6 people at a time due to covid. You go in to the left and leave on the right, so they've got a nice flow going. The woman was very sweet, and the ordering process was super easy. Not sure I'm a fan of the California rolls, but my husband thought they were great. The service is fantastic - the two women working at the time I came in were so sweet and patient. They met me with nothing but smiles! Social distancing is in place and they limit the number of people in the store at one time. They're only doing takeout of course and there aren't any tables outside so I ate in the car I've never had black rice before so I did a combo of that and the brown rice and it was SO TASTY! The fish I got were the tuna, salmon, and albacore which all seemed pretty fresh. They don't have a ton of sauces but the ones they have are done right. In terms of the toppings, I really appreciated how crab salad, seaweed salad, and avocado were all free on the first scoop which most poke places won't do anymore. Their toppings overall are classic and nothing too crazy like you see in other places which I appreciated! It wasn't overwhelming and you know what you're getting. I went with a friend and she finished her bowl in 5 minutes so that just tells you how bomb the food was . I was sooo hungry and this really just hit the spot. The price for a regular bowl (3 scoops) was quite reasonable too at around $11. I've been to so many poke places where it's $13 and upwards and then you have to pay for things like avocado on top!! The prices are reasonable (~$15 for a regular and ~$19 for a large) and most toppings are included at no additional charge, including avocado. They really load up your bowl and my large allowed for 5 scoops of protein, which I filled with mostly salmon and a little bit of spicy crab. I like my poke on the saucier side so I wasn't disappointed with the plentiful sauce options here. In short, the food is good and fresh but a bit overpriced for the amount you get. The place is clean and parking is easy (private lot). They do have dine in seating but no outdoor seating. They had the menu clearly visible which makes it easy to go through the ordering process. Staff are friendly and helpful in guiding you through your order. The options were decent. For rice, they had sushi, brown, and black rice (first place I've seen that offered this!) in addition to a fresh vegetable option. For protein, they had a variety of fish including salmon, tuna, albacore, yellowtail (although they were out of this when we went), izumatai (a firm white fish), shrimp, and tamago (sweet egg). Toppings included crab salad, (additional cost), seaweed salad (additional cost), avocado (additional cost), masago (fish roe), green onions, onions, and couple of others. They had a few sauces including unagi and wasabi variations. You can also request dry toppings like fried noodles, sesame seeds, and furikake. The large and regular option only vary by how much protein you get (5 scoops or 3 scoops). The large was filling enough but it did seem rather expensive for the amount and options available compared to other places I've been (e.g., Bayside Poke out in Newark). It lacked the savory, salty, and umami taste that i am accustomed to. The ratio of rice to fish/toppings was kinda jarring. I ordered a large, but it seemed like a 70/30 ratio of rice to fish/etc. I was left with large bites of rice which rarely happens in poke bowls. I also thought their sauces were quite limited. I LOVE Poki Run. I've been to several different poké places in the Bay Area and I've come to the conclusion that this place is my #1 choice to get my poké fix on. This is the only restaurant that I've been to that has the option for black rice, which I have grown to be a HUGE fan of. It's got a great nutty flavor with some extra umph of awesome that other rices just don't quite have. The fish choices are great - I always default to getting the spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and salmon w/ house sauce. As my husband learned once, spicy everything is far too spicy, so I'd recommend balancing the spicy with a non-spicy mix. The spicy tuna is chopped up tuna w/ hot sauce, so it is much more intense in heat than the salmon, which is in chunks. The sauce and topping options are supreme. I layer on wasabi mayo and spicy sauce as well as deliciousness such as seaweed salad, crab, edamame, avocado, furikake, & sesame seeds - all of these for FREEEEEE! Yes, even avocado here is FREE! Take that, Chipotle (& any other poké place that has avocado as an offering)! The service has always been excellent. Everyone there has always served with a smile & they are super-efficient with putting my bowls together. My only beef (only because it's my personal preference) is that I always end up having my poké bowl with a cup of water since my go-to Coke Zero is not a drink that they have in stock. Thank goodness Poki Run is open for takeout during COVID. To get a regular bowl with rice/ and or greens, 3 types of protein (fish), all the standard add ons. ( avocado, crab, edamame, corn , seaweed salad, apples, ginger, tobiko, etc), your choice of dressings and toppings offers a fine meal for lunch or dinner. Items are always fresh and hand assembled by a staff person in front of you. It's fast and totally healthy.
