    Regular Bowl

i come to ballard like once a month or so to get my nails done... and because i usually get them done around noon, i'm usually hungry after. i was randomly craving poke one of those times and i am a Certified Hater of just poké due to its price and, frankly, mediocrity. i did a search to see if there was anything else around and this place came up. i walked in and was greeted by a super cool guy (i did not get his name but he has long hair and snakebites). i told him it was my first time in and he helped me put my bowl together. like i said he was super cool and i was the only person inside so we were just yapping which was fun. the inside of the place isn't a special atmospheric adventure but it has some big windows so there's lots of natural light. overall, this place was pretty good. fish was fresh and there's a good selection of toppings and sauces. if i'm ever craving poke after my nail appointments, i'll swing by.

Consistent, fresh, tasty poke. Love a good neighborhood spot. Friendly staff and generous portions. Tip: get mixed base of rice + salad, instead of just rice. Not good for large groups to sit, but really haven't seen it too crowded for dine in either. But hits the spot when craving poke and you're in the area. Adding some recent menu pics.

I like poke square. It's a great fast-casual lunch spot. The guys are friendly, the food is 'affordable', it's healthy, fresh, filling, and it's quick. It's always open when I'm in the neighborhood: lunch hour. It's also great that they use mostly compostable take out containers. If you're lucky you can score some miso or hot tea there when it's cold outside. Similar to most poke places you pick almost everything. It's like Hawaiian subway with fresh fish, rice, and seaweed. Poke square is affordable and quick. The only recommendations I have are to offer a few pre made bowls so that new customers aren't so burdened with difficult decisions about what to put in there. More protein variety would be nice but I can imagine that it's best for a small spot to keep the choices limited to control the cost. Keep up the good work!

This place is on par with FOB, which is supposed to be the best in Seattle. I would prefer this place as they have more options and it's much more affordable. The indoor seating is comfortable and the staffs have great personality. Awesome place for a poke fix!

Yummy poke spot in Ballard that hits the spot with fresh fish and a variety of sides! They definitely don't skimp on the fish here too. I got a regular bowl that comes with two scoops of fish and plenty of sides and it was a huge meal. The fish was fresh and perfectly mixed with their house sauces. Loved the variety of sides that added but didn't take away from the flavor of the fish. Nice service and very clean interior to enjoy eating inside too!

Poke Square has a lot of options and not limited on toppings! I really appreciate this aspect. They're quick and nice. In terms of the flavor, it's a pretty standard poke food and taste. The place itself was clean and small.

This is my favorite local poke place! It's reliable, high quality, and reasonably priced! I'm always satisfied coming here (and I come here a bunch--at least once a week). Highly recommend trying all the different sauces!

I can't believe I haven't try this place till now! They have a variety of protein selection and all the ingredients tasted fresh. This poke spot is supper generous with their portion. The staff is super friendly and patient with my order as I review their lists of options. The quality and quantity of the poke bowl are amazing as well as fair pricing. Definitely would come back and order again!

Poke. I take it super seriously from all the times as a kid having it in Hawaii. Now, during lockdown it is really easy to order nothing but comfort food so when I found they were delivering, my little heart was happy! As you can see by the copious photos, I have ordered more than once from them and been VERY happy with every bowl. Personally I am good with the smaller of the two bowls. I ordered the large a couple of times but ended up eating them over two sittings. My favourite is a mix of the rice and greens, and have come to the conclusion that I could have one of these bowls 5-6x a week and be happy as a fat otter. I absolutely love this place. I feel the quality and quantity for what you receive is good. I have never been disappointed in a bowl that I've gotten from them. Keep up the good work and keep supporting local businesses during this difficult time!

Okay, I fully admit I was skeptical of yet another poke place but poke square really surprised me! I was greeted immediately and they were so nice in while putting the poke bowl together. I went for brown rice and salmon/tuna regular bowl. Pretty standard of what I order at a poke shop. I was however pleasantly surprised of the quality of the fish (didn't get a single bite of yucky gritty fish you sometimes get at subpar poke places) and the tastiness of the toppings. I really appreciated the pickled daikon/carrot mix (yep, like the ones you get inside a banh mi) and amount of pickled ginger they don on top. This is not a place that skimp on toppings and I really appreciate that. I can tell poke square will definitely go into my regular rotation of lunch places. If you're feeling skeptical of yet another poke shop in seattle or you're just in need of a great quality poke, look no further!

Poke Square is my go-to lunch spot in Ballard since I live so close! The food is consistently fresh, delicious, and I know that I can be in and out with my food in less than 10 minutes. The staff is very friendly too! Today I ordered takeout directly from Yelp and my lunch was waiting for me as soon as I arrived! I usually go for the regular bowl (comes with 2 proteins) with brown rice and + avocado. It's a liiiittttle pricey for lunch (about $17 for a regular bowl + a drink + tip), but totally worth the "splurge" every once in a while. Give this place a try if you're craving poke in Ballard! Ps - they have their Halloween decorations out to get you feeling festive :)

Being Hawaiian, I take my poke seriously. I've tried a couple poke shops in Seattle just to compare what there is and Poke Square has been my favorite. We ordered for the first time just tonight, my boyfriend and I both got the regular combos. I got the bowl on the left in the photo (tuna, salmon, brown rice, sriracha aoli pickled ginger, cucumber, edamame, corn, furikake and seaweed) and his is on the right (tuna, salmon, white rice, white onion, avocado, sesame seeds, edamame). We DEMOLISHED the bowls. Perfect amount of dressing, perfect rice seasoning, ingredients were fresh, the quality of the fish was SOLID. We're happy to support such a tasty shop during these hard times!!

Regarless, it's on different location, the taste is the same! So, I'm happy about it. The vibe is completely different than Lynnwood one. This restaurant is darker and guests are way louder. Mostly, university students, I think. I like dim light atmosphere, unfortunately, I can't enjoy it much here. Too loud? Too dark? Or it's just not the right light bulbs, it got me dizzy. It was at night, it made the room even gloomy. Upon returning to the parking lot, the atmosphere is somewhat unsettling. This is particularly true for a woman walking alone. To access the parking lot, I had to walk through the darkness to the back of the building. Unfortunately, due to the narrow parking lot, one car was parked in a manner that blocked the exit way, requiring me to reverse all the way out. Overall fantastic staff, fantastic food, but I may not comeback because the vibe just doesn't suit me. This restaurant will most likely be very busy in the better location and fresh look.

Thankfully dine-in is back open again, so we got here on a Saturday morning around 11:20am to indoor seating that was nearly full and a small line that was forming at the front counter. Walls have a bunch of photo frames, and overall place felt very homely. They have a ton of Hawaiian style plates and even burgers and some seafood, though we and most others got the former to eat. I ordered their chicken and pork combo Hawaiian style plate, and my bestie got their chicken katsu Hawaiian style plate. Portions are huge for both plates and both also came with macaroni salad. They give you sooooo much meat no matter what you get. To go in slightly more detail: - Chicken and pork combo: both meats were flavored very well, and a little sweet too though pretty salty without using the rice as a palette cleanser. Chicken had more depth in its flavor; the pork's flavor was a little too much for my liking, and was slightly harder to chew. Both meats had some sauce hat went onto the rice itself. This didn't detract from my overall experience here, though. - Chicken katsu: we both agreed this was our favorite after exchanging pieces of each other's dish. The katsu is crispy and crunchy, and the chicken itself retained a lot of its juiciness. Katsu sauce on the side is honestly optional since the meat itself is already salty enough. This place does share extremely limited parking with Cakes of Paradise next door, so get here early or be prepared to drive around the area to find some. The woman taking our order was incredibly peppy and friendly, even while juggling everything: taking in-person orders, answering phones, serving customers, and bagging food. Seriously impressive. All the seats were filled, so we ordered everything to-go. We got the famous crispy ginger chicken, spam musubi, and chicken long rice. I was hoping for oxtail soup and asked about it--she explained they only offer it on certain days and recommended calling early in the morning to check, then getting there quickly because it sells out fast. Can't wait to come back and try it. Back at the hotel, we feasted. The crispy ginger chicken is famous for a reason--so flavorful, perfectly crispy, and somehow even better the next day. The chicken long rice was packed with noodles directly in the soup (not separately) so the broth had mostly soaked into the noodles, but it was still deeply flavorful and comforting. The spam musubi leans on the sweeter side, which is great if that's your thing. Overall, this place is all about heart, hustle, and seriously satisfying Hawaiian comfort food. Come early, expect a line, plan for parking--and you'll be rewarded.

I was originally going to order some musubi, but after seeing a curry dish, I couldn't resist. Curry Loco Moco Don ($16) - The chef first piles a mound of rice in the bowl. It seems to be higher quality short grain rice, giving great mouthfeel at first, but then biting into it, the overcooked mushy qualities emerge. The rice is sprinkled with a bit of furikake, adding a briny and savory flavor profile. Two beef patties are set on top, both with seemingly fake grill marks, perhaps indicative of commercial patties. They are homogeneous with a kind of spongy texture, pressed into a puck with a bunch of filler like Japanese hambagu. The beef is somewhat tender, but isn't soft enough to be cut through with a plastic fork. There's a fried egg on top, complete with runny yolk and even a small amount of runny white. They then ladle a couple of scoops of Japanese curry over the top. It's somewhat generic, probably a normal boxed curry mix with no embellishment, but it's cooked well. It has a nice thickness, isn't too thin or runny, lending a good curry flavor to the dish. I do with it came with a bit more curry since after eating about half the dish, it was all gone. Finally, some pickled ginger on top completes the dish. The curry is quite filling, probably close to 2 pounds of food. (4/5) Musubi Kai is a convenient and quick stop for a bite while downtown. You order at the front before being seated which means food arrives shortly after sitting down. With that noted, I wouldn't return to wait that long. First visit, to try a relatively famous spot, sure. Inside is a bit tight, but conversation can be had. My friends got the lumpia-silog and bistek-silog. Lumpia was tasty, but not particularly outstanding. Bistek was dry. The beef was tough to chew, seasoned alright on the outside but likely overcooked if not old. I opted for the oxtail silog which was delicious but pricey. Oxtail Silog - for $29, this plate definitely gets a double take. After waiting in the hour line, I figured I should commit for a tasty meal. Oxtail comes in a side bowl alongside a bit of hearty broth which the rice absorbs well. Meat is tender, falls off the bone, but pulling around oxtail bones isn't the simplest, so definitely have to bite around crevices. All in all, this plate was delicious but think it comes with a huge tourist tax I've had better value for oxtail plates. Ube Pancake Stack - four sizeable pancakes. Some pictures, including my own, don't do these justice. I can definitely get behind the hype. They're drenched in a rich ube sauce and there's plenty to go around. Honestly the ube flavor is present on the pancakes, but it feels relatively faint because the sauce is extremely sweet and flavorful, minimizing the pancake taste and expanding the gap between flavors. That being said, I think I would enjoy the pancakes with less sauce (or preferably, on the side).

The restaurant is smaller, with tables for mostly two or four people. They have an outside area, though the tables were not set up when we went. We were running late for a show, so I previewed the menu before arriving and ordered immediately upon seating. Our total time there was an impressive 40 min with their fast service. Very good to know for future reference. Karaage is in the name and is their signature dish. They make it the right way using chicken thigh. Prices are reasonable for the Seattle area. We will return again. The Food: Curry Rice with Karaage, $17.95 - 4 Stars This popular curry rice comes with a choice of protein, which naturally, we chose karaage. The curry sauce is delicious. There is a lot of rice on this plate though. Hubby left half behind. Poke Salad with tuna, $14.95 - 5 Stars Their poke salad with choice of 3.5 oz protein was excellent with the mixed greens. The salad wasn't overdressed and tasted refreshing with a light dressing. I would order this again. Karaage Chicken, small, $6.95 - 5 Stars Glad they offer the chicken as a side. The small is a good compliment to salad. Instead of four pieces, we had five. Hubby was happy to have more protein to go with the rice. They are more of a 4.5 stars rating. Their service speed bumped them up to 5 Stars.

Solid spot for a bite if you're in Belltown. Nothing fancy--very casual, laid-back vibe. The…read morerestaurant does tend to run a bit warm, but it's manageable. If you order a rice dish, they include complimentary miso soup. It leans a little salty, but it's still comforting and a nice way to start the meal. I got the karaage curry rice this time--the karaage was crispy on the outside and super juicy inside. The portion was definitely filling. Service was quick and friendly too.

This is genuinely the best poké I've ever had in my life (I haven't been to Hawaii yet, lol). I am…read morea poké addict, and I just about will stop by at any poké restaurant just to try it. This spot was recommended to me by a friend. The interior of the restaurant was warm and very decorated. There were a lot of Hawaiian cultural references, which added to the ambiance. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. And despite it being super busy the day that I went, they were all patient with each customer. I had a few samples of their fish, and let me tell you, the fish is FRESH. I am usually picky with tuna because they tend to have a fishy taste, but Ono's tuna was NOT fishy at all. Also, all the different flavors of poké were seasoned PERFECTLY. I got the spicy salmon and the scallop poke. They were both buttery and tender. The flavors did not overtake the natural flavor of the fish, and the sauce was seeped deep into the salmon; the same goes for the scallop. Sometimes at poké restaurants the sauce will sit on top of the fish, but NOT HERE. This place is genuinely SO SO good. I highly recommend coming to this place and trying their poké! + This place is so good that I am willing to make the trip out to this place if I am ever back in this state.

Another tough pill to swallow is the prices being a bit higher but again, somewhat justified with high quality, decent quantity, and overall delicious. Their rotating menu keeps things interesting but it sucks when a favorite fish isn't available for that week! Ample parking because it's located in a large plaza, but may have to park a little further away in the plaza because of the amount of people. They also have a Kingston shop, so both locations are convenient across the ferry.
