Just Poke is one of the many Poke restaurants in Seattle. Their selection of the different types of fish, toppings, veggies, and rice is varied and wide. I had the creamy scallops and raw salmon. I added tobiko, tamago egg, hijiki seaweed, mango, pineapple, citrus sauce, eel sauce, dried seaweed w/ wasabi flaked, and dried onions. It was really tasty. I would love to see a place like this in Anchorage, Alaska that serves exclusively poke. The ambience was nice and the two employees working there were very welcoming and kind! One of them took the time to explain the different ingredients that I wasn't familiar with. They sell boba tea at the opposite counter. It's the same company, but with two separate counters. I tried their Jasmine Boba Milk tea. It was really delicious. They have a variety of flavors and some I've never heard of before. Overall, it's a little pricey, but for the amount you get, it's reasonable. I do think that they could be at least a couple of dollars cheaper. Hopefully the prices are kept reasonable. Food is good high quality, too small portions such as not enough rice or fish, way less than it used to be when I have first discovered just poke. And paying $1.50 extra for Mac salad when I barely get any is crazy. Then don't even get me started with the service. Worst service ever sooo slow and not what it used to be. I had a coupon so it inspired me to check this spot out. I live nearby so came in for lunch one day. They have 2 sizes of bowls to choose from, regular or large. The large seemed way too big for me so I just got the regular size. They have plenty of options to choose from, starting with difference rices for the base or greens and a variety of poke. I hadn't seen poke scallops before so I got those, nice and creamy, as well as some spicy tuna. I got most of the toppings, including edamame, hijiki, and some crunchy extras. The sauce was very good, and I actually mixed two together for a combo. It added up quite quickly too. Th only downside was the guy behind the counter didn't seem too eager to explain everything. He was helpful enough but didn't go out of his way to be very welcoming or enthusiastic about poke. I got my order to go so I could eat it at home and finish working. Two of the things I enjoy are milk tea and musubi's and how exciting that I can have both at the same time at the same location. I popped in here after work from South Lake Union, which was a short drive to Ballard. No parking lot, so find parking on the street. When you enter one side has DIY Tea Lab and across the other side is Just Poke. I go to Just Poke multiple times a month at other locations and I have to say their spam musubi was a lot saucier than the others I have had, but I liked it more this way. I also ordered a large poke bowl because I needed dinner as well. That was yummy too. I always get brown rice, salmon, and creamy scallops and there are tons of topping options. Cute place inside and the staff were nice. I didn't realize this place was a chain and it gives decent portion sizes and it was really good. Overpriced as usual and you have to pay extra for zucchini noodles and avocado $1-$1.50 which is normal I think. I just love how you can pick what you want so it's everything you like. Positives: The staff was nice/helpful/welcoming. Lots of options whether you like raw fish, vegetarian, or cooked fish (they have seared fish and unagi options). There is a bubble tea place in the same space, though they operate different hours. They use compostable bowls. Main problem: My biggest concern with this place is that they leave the doors open during summer. I've walked by many times; the doors were open. The day I ate there, the doors were open. I understand it's warm this summer and fresh air is great, but to the restaurant, please try to address this some other way if possible. (Note: it was still quite warm inside.) There were many flies around and on the food and we all know that the streets of Market St aren't exactly the cleanest by farrrrr. This was a major red flag for me, but I had already started building my bowl, otherwise I would have left. I got the Evergreen bowl. The only component with any flavor was the onion, which was overpowering. For 19$, (including tip and tax) it was disappointing to get a sad, flavorless bowl. I've gotten poke here twice, once by delivery and once by going in person, and I am pretty convinced that it's inferior to Poke Square. The proteins and toppings here generally look a little dried out and sad. That's not so bad if you're in person and you can pick only the best options, but my delivery bowl was kind of gross. Another poke place and I wish I could give it 5 stars as the service is so awesome here! But remaining fair balanced, have to review the quality of food. First they weigh each scoop on the scale - okay, I get it but wow seemed so intense to be taking the little chopped piece of fish and taking it out from the scale back into the tub. I opted for a large size which enables you to get three protein choices - I went for non flavored salmon, spicy scallop, and spicy tuna. Once they are weighed out, they all get tossed in a sauce you pick. Seems so strange this mixture gets al tossed when some come already flavored... Fish pieces overall were smaller compared to some of the competitor poke places and I wished it had a little bit more of a bite to it. When it comes to DIY poke bowls, you pray rice to fish portions will be good. Pray harder yall because Just Poke just ain't it. From the rice base to the fish scoops to the cuts of fish....portions were not happening. Too much rice packed in my bowl, fish cuts and scoop size was SO disappointing, like so small the steam from the rice started cooking my protein. I can't tell the difference between Hawaiian Ahi and Ahi? $1 for a scoop of the mac salad that I ate in one bite. The only thing I enjoyed were the pickled ginger. I feel like this place has unfortunately been going downhill. It used to be one of my go to spots for poke. But recently I feel like every time I go I get less and less food and the prices stay the same. I asked for extra seaweed salad to be added and it was maybe one bite of seaweed salad. I asked for one more scoop and was charged $1 for it. Which I ultimately said was fine I just didn't know it would be a whole dollar for one more bite of it. I also was sad to see that overall it was less food than they normally give for a regular sized bowl. I know I'm a small human but I shouldn't be shorted food especially if I'm spending almost $20 on a regular sized bowl. Though I did tip them. I think everyone deserves to be paid as much as customers deserve to be served equally. It's unfortunate cause it's such a cute place and a great location. But I feel like the last few times I've been here I've been skimped on food. I do still think the food itself is good that's why I come. I'm just disappointed in the quantity they've been serving lately and if I wasn't so caught up in asking for more seaweed salad I would have remembered to also ask for some spicy sauce on it. Order dinner delivery for quick take-out options for two. Having had poke in many different places, which doesn't offer eel so we opted for the Torched Eel Donburi Bowl. I love eel and have not seen this as an option in many places. It will definitely be my go-to option. The eel had crispy skin but was also moist. The sauce added the right amount of sweetness with it being overwhelming. It also comes with Tamago which was nice with the overall combination. We also ordered the miso soup which was good. There are many options and bowls but I really loved the torched bowl options. They also have musubi which we will have to get next time. An overall great option for a quick bite. read more
