Best poke in the city for the price. Definitely know that it's not the most authentic poke out there but the portion, choices, and price is unbeatable in Seattle. Always come here when I'm craving a big bowl of poke and it's located close to UW. The fish is fresh and a lot of different types of fish and flavors. It's kinda chipotle style where you get to choose all your favorite toppings. Idk when this happened but ig Hiroshi's rebranded to poke dondon lol. Same location, same items, same huge portions that I remember. Cuz, they literally weigh out their scoops on a scale when they assemble that bad boy lol. I included one picture but you can't really even see the proteins I selected, which were the kimchi tako (octopus for the haoles) + lomilomi salmon. My base was half/half sushi rice + lettuce. I threw on some furikake, edamame, crab salad, and mac salad on top. The tako was a bangah, go try em if ya like kimchi. I will say, there was hella kimchi vs tako in terms of proportions tho hahaha. The lomilomi was ok. I wish I got they ahi or something else tho lol. read more

Poke Dondon / Hiroshi's is the best post-exam lunch for my friends and I! Service is super quick when we come in as a group, and also very friendly. The poke itself is super fresh and definitely some of the best I've ever had across Washington & California! The portions are also HUGE, I can never finish a two scoop bowl in on sitting. Two scoops is $15.99 before tax, which is a steal compared to other stores!! Could not recommend this place enough! read more

I believe it's also called Hiroshi's? I thought it wasn't bad, I've had better. The portions are really good, got two bowls for $33 but there's a lot of rice and fish. Only one salmon option as far as I'm aware, and I didn't ask but I wonder if searing is an option. They do have limited options but [[HIGHLIGHT]]the space is pretty small[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], toppings were unlimited too I believe. Their sauces are good too and service is very friendly! read more

This has got to be one of the best poke bowls I've had in Seattle! The poke tastes so fresh and packed with a lot of flavor. They have plenty of toppings to choose from and they give out such generous portions!! And I love their Mac salad...so creamy yet light! I do wish they had more spam musubi...it's my son's favorite and every time we come, they're out. But nonetheless, we are always so satisfied and full after eating a poke bowl from Hiroshi's! I just wish their parking situation was better. No parking in front, so you have to find street parking around the block read more

Poke Dondon (formerly Hiroshi's) has the BEST poke in town. As a UW student, this place has quickly become a frequented favorite of mine and my friends. The fish is fresh, the rice is cooked well, and they have so many toppings! Make sure to get a drizzle of their creamy dressing. The staff are also extremely nice. A small poke shop that I stumbled upon while around the UW area, Poke Dondon was a great surprise! [[HIGHLIGHT]]You pretty much have to take your food to-go as there's no real seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The worker was very friendly and she was right about how good their poke is! I got their Waikiki bowl which comes with both their Hawaiian Tuna and their Lomilomi Salmon. You get to add a bunch of different toppings at no added cost (seaweed salad, edamame, ginger etc). I think each bowl also comes with mac salad and imitation crab which was great. The bowl was super packed and full. And for only $15?! That's a steal for poke. The fish was super fresh and all of the accompaniments were perfect. You cant' really ask for more when it comes to a Poke Bowl! read more

What a hidden gem! One of those hidden gems you don't want to hype up because it is too good to not keep a secret :') Good quality poke and sides. The Mac Salad in particular is bomb. The portions for the prices are marvelous - $11.99 for one Choice of Protein, $13.99 for Two, then +$2.50 for any additional. Order at the counter and take out. I have never had to write a bad review as I have worked in customer service before but I went in to eat with 2 friends and the blonde short hair lady working was fine until we were checking out. She asked us if we wanted to pay together or separate. We replied that two of us would pay together and one separate and she charged all 3 bowls together. This isn't an issue, I know that I can always just venmo my friend back but after we checked out we waited because we thought it was 2 separate transactions. Now confused, we asked her to clarify if all three bowls were paid together, in which she said "I asked you THREE times if it was together or separate" with a tone of attitude in her voice. Mind you, she only asked us once and we weren't even attacking her or mad we just wanted to make sure we paid for everything before leaving. The Poke was good but unfortunately the rude experience from the staff ruined this place for me. read more

I can't believe I didn't know about Hiroshi's/Dondon poke until now especially cause it is in the UDistrict. The portions do not skimp out and everything was super fresh. It's also a great deal for the amount and quality of the fish you get. There was no line when I got there and I got helped very quickly. I would definitely come back again! It's the cutest little shop with hand-written menu items... I'm born and raised in Hawaii so this made me feel right at home. The main chef is Japanese as evident in his accent. All the staff was so sweet. They measure out all the portions so you know they're consistent and the portions were pretty good especially for the price. There are set bowls you can get or you can make your own either way they're $15 or under! They have several sides and no extra charges for them I believe. The fish was fresh! Solid poke bowl with generous portions! If you get one thing here, get the original tuna poke. It was SO good - definitely some of the best tuna I've had. I'm not sure how it compares to Hawaii, but I'd assume it's something similar. The inside is quite dim and it's takeout only, but you order in a line and choose what you want to fill your bowl with. I got brown rice and spinach as the base, tuna and lomi lomi salmon, and plenty of toppings. The Japanese sauce was also quite good. I didn't think the salmon was that special and the rice was a little mushy, but all the toppings were delicious. It was quite pricey but the portions are really generous - it could definitely last me 2 meals if I wanted to save it. If you need a quick, relatively healthy, and reliable meal then this is a great spot to go to. read more

Hiroshi's has always been a staple - it's conveniently close to home and the food has always been fresh. Fast forward to today where I was severely disappointed. 1. They have started weighing their rice and poke. No big deal on my end, but the rice to fish ratio was meh. 2. Instead of a scoop of toppings (I like my toppings) it was a minuscule tiny spoon of each...one bite's worth, no joke. Look at the photos lol. Each topping, like crab salad for example, the entire "scoop" was equal to one bite on my fork. For the price; this place is no longer worth it. Even the mac salad was a teeny-tiny scoop. My last time here was not even but a month or two ago, so something has changed in the short time frame. I get that food prices have risen everywhere...pretty much every poke place is roughly $13.99 for a 2 protein bowl...but everywhere else you get a fair amount of toppings. Still a good amount of food, but I used to be able to get nearly 2 meals out of each bowl. Not so much any more. I had to go home and put on more of my own toppings. For a last meal during my visit to Seattle, Hiroshi's did not disappoint. While poke bowls in the bay can cost upwards of $15 for the smallest size, this place had me sold on both portion and quality. There were plenty of options to choose from the fish and marinades they were in to the toppings and fillers. Fish not prepared properly can make you feel funny which is not great for air travel, but I felt perfectly fine and full of good food as I flew back to the Oakland. Everything was well flavored and all the ingredients went together without anything overpowered. Service is straightforward and they make sure the restaurant isn't too crowded by dealing with one party/group at a time. This is a takeout restaurant so pretty casual and somewhere I hope crosses my path again one day. read more

I really liked the poke bowl! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a small place do you have to order for takeout but it's such a good experience![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The server was really helpful, when they were almost out of shrimp ceviche (which was delicious) they gave me the remaining and allowed me to add some salmon so I still got enough protein. Although the food tastes amazing, if you're sensitive to raw fish then this may not be the best idea because it did hurt my stomach more than Just Poke for some reason, though it may just have been an off day when I went. read more

Great portions, especially for a broke college student. I recommend making your own custom bowl, with extra proteins add-on (it's worth, trust). Taste good, not sure about fish quality but everything's a whopping mush when you combine the ingredients, so don't worry about picking too much toppings and content. Hiroshi's was pretty good! We ended up coming here on a super hot day bc poke is perfect hot weather food, and unfortunately our fav spot was already sold out of almost everything by 4:30pm. We knew we wanted somewhere that was a bit more traditional poke and found Hiroshi's! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute mom and pop shop, and they had everything I was looking for![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the spicy tuna and the traditional ahi (can't remember exactly what it was called, and added a bunch of toppings, like masago, cucumbers, edamame, which were all free. They also have a bunch of sauce options, and you can put two on. Overall, hit the spot! I thought the fish could have been a bit fresher, but can't complain! This is a decent spot for poke if you're in the University District area and craving poke. They're a great plus for students in the area because the portions are huge and the price is relatively inexpensive. Taste-wise, it wasn't the best poke bowl that I've had. I work across the street from Hiroshi's Poke so when I'm feeling a little peckish, I have a solution within walking distance. The owners and employees here are always really polite and helpful. When you check out, they always ask if you'd like a drink just in case you missed the artistic display of drinks by the counter. If you don't want to devour a full bowl and just need a quick snack, I recommend the spam musubi. For the poke lovers, Hiroshi's offers different types of poke, ranging from shrimp ceviche to spicy tuna. Don't forget to get some mac salad on the side! You'll thank me later. They used to have Tako Kimchi (octopus kimchi) and Shrimp Keviche but looks like it's now Scallop Kimchi and Garlic Albacore. Though I'm not sure if this is a permanent change, I have never seen the albacore option and don't see any reviews on it. I hope that they continue to rotate options because it adds an extra layer of complexity and surprise to keep visiting. They always have the three basic tunas - Spicy, Original, and Hawaiian and the Lomi Lomi Salmon, but I see other options sometimes swapped around so it's always exciting to wonder what they'll serve. Of course I tried one of the newer options and wanted to leave an update here. Went for the garlic albacore - It's seared albacore so there's some raw poke style albacore and other seared albacore blocks which was interesting. It's not something I'd consistently get but I like to see that they're adding more variety. Albacore is another version of tuna, yes, but tastes different than the other options. This one is also mixed with garlic sauce and I got a few garlic gloves too. My last visit wasn't the most fresh, but still tasty. I'll call it an outlier since I've never had a bad experience and hoping this doesn't lead to a pattern. Portions were smaller but it's still more than enough for a solid meal. this place is amazing! i opted to create my own bowl which is great because i love having the option to personalize my food. there are so many options for poke, vegetable toppings, sauce, and the base of your bowl. the portions are insanely affordable for their price. 1 bowl was more than enough for me. the line moves quickly and the workers are very tentative when helping with customers. this space is pretty small but it is organized so that the store is never too packed and you can tell they keep their restaurant sanitized. love this place! read more

David L informed me that this place was his favorite poke place, and only recently I was able to check it out after a study session with a friend! Could not wait as I was CRAVING poke. It's located next to OH! Bear Cafe & TeaHouse (looked super cute! But was closed when we went) on 11th Ave NE outside of U District. There's only street parking around the area which could be very difficult to find. We were lucky and were able to find parking right in front of the shop. I created my own poke bowl with two choices of fish: Spicy Tuna and Lomi Lomi Salmon. I chose sushi rice with a ton of toppings and two different sauces, Ponzu and a creamy Japanese one. Should have gotten the spicy mayo, whoops. The bowls were HUGE and a lot was packed into it. I didn't know where to start since there was so much going on (which I didn't mind LOL). I tried the spicy tuna and thought it was meh. The fish was kind of odd; almost rubbery. I knew it was minced, but it's not the usual minced spicy tuna I was used to... There wasn't much flavor to it. A bit bland. Definitely missing a flavor. Should have gotten that spicy mayo sauce. Smh. The Lomi Lomi Salmon was okay. Kind of citrusy from the tomatoes and lemon juice. It had a better texture and maybe flavor than the spicy tuna. But with everything happening, I didn't really taste the lomi lomi flavor of it. The winner was actually the Original Ahi. I got one for my boyfriend with the same exact things except for one protein: the Original Ahi. And maaan, I wish I chose that instead LOL. The texture and flavor the original was soooo much better compared to the two choices I got. I could actually identify the taste and what I was eating. Ugh. So good! Next time tho! I would actually rate this place as 3.5 stars but gotta round it up for their original ahi, portions, and customer service! Definitely was full after that huge bowl of poke! Great take out place for poke especially with its huge portions and price! I ordered their chicken and pork combo Hawaiian style plate, and my bestie got their chicken katsu Hawaiian style plate. Portions are huge for both plates and both also came with macaroni salad. They give you sooooo much meat no matter what you get. To go in slightly more detail: - Chicken and pork combo: both meats were flavored very well, and a little sweet too though pretty salty without using the rice as a palette cleanser. Chicken had more depth in its flavor; the pork's flavor was a little too much for my liking, and was slightly harder to chew. Both meats had some sauce hat went onto the rice itself. This didn't detract from my overall experience here, though. - Chicken katsu: we both agreed this was our favorite after exchanging pieces of each other's dish. The katsu is crispy and crunchy, and the chicken itself retained a lot of its juiciness. Katsu sauce on the side is honestly optional since the meat itself is already salty enough. This place does share extremely limited parking with Cakes of Paradise next door, so get here early or be prepared to drive around the area to find some. Just get here, it's a place you can't pass up when you hit up Georgetown!

Can't wait to come back and try it. Back at the hotel, we feasted. The crispy ginger chicken is famous for a reason--so flavorful, perfectly crispy, and somehow even better the next day. The chicken long rice was packed with noodles directly in the soup (not separately) so the broth had mostly soaked into the noodles, but it was still deeply flavorful and comforting. The spam musubi leans on the sweeter side, which is great if that's your thing. Overall, this place is all about heart, hustle, and seriously satisfying Hawaiian comfort food. Come early, expect a line, plan for parking--and you'll be rewarded.

I learned that tuna skin is much tougher than salmon skin so can't be eaten like salmon skin chips. He also said that the trimmed parts can be taken for free if anyone wants them. Apparently they make good crab bait! Medium w/ Rice, Traditional Limu Ahi, Hamachi, Mac Salad ($21.50) - I love the Hamachi poke mix. It's fresh, tender, and buttery fish tossed in a creamy and slightly spicy sauce, filled with little briny pearls and plenty of aromatics giving a super umami bite. The Limu Ahi is very fresh as well - I mean, it's sliced right in front, and there's so much turnover of the food that's it's pretty much guaranteed fresh. The tuna is fresh and tender, but there's noticeably more sinew compared to the hamachi. The Mac Salad is also really good. It's super creamy and the macaroni isn't overcooked so it still has some bite. The rice is unfortunately the weakest item in the bowl. It's a little too dry for my tastes and is only lightly tossed with rice vinegar, giving a tangy flavor. The Hamachi is only available on weekends and the fish is so fatty it almost melts in your mouth with the creamy and tangy sauce. The Shoyu Salmon is incredibly succulent and just a classic knocked out of the park with a great balance of fresh, salty, and slightly sweet. I'm normally a tuna hater, but the texture is excellent with a nice bite and great spice level.

Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs.
