    5. Sumo Crunch Burrito
    Nicole N.

I came here to get dinner with a friend and it honestly was everything that I was expecting. I got the Sumo Crunch and I loved loved loved the combination of flavor. I did think that the place itself had a pretty pricey menu when looking at portion size. Service was pretty fast and LOTS of seating available. I like how it's higher up above places in its location I thought it was pretty cool.

This place was one of my favorites during freshman year! I went a few days ago when I was overwhelmed with work and needed to pick up something quick. It was a very speedy process, and the food is good quality! The fish and vegetables all taste very fresh, and the flavoring was present but not overwhelming. The place is also wonderful for hanging out with friends, and just enjoying a clean, aesthetic place!

First time in and the food was delicious! I wasn't too sure what to expect off the name but it's literally just a sushi burrito. I got the evergreen which was so delicious and everything looked and tasted really fresh. The service was super fast, didn't take long for my food at all. And the staff was super nice in answering questions that I had. The inside was suuuuper spacious too. There's lots of seating and the floor plan is very big. I would definitely recommend to someone and come back myself if i'm in the area.

Everything here is so fresh and great. The sushi burritos are good but I think the poke bowls are the star. They load them up and it's just so fresh and the employees are so nice! It is right upstairs from a build your own boba place, so I like to hit both and take out on a picnic!

yummy and creative food. a little pricey for the amount you get, though i assume that just means better quality fish.

I got to try this spot as part of the u district $4 food walk so this review may be a little biased, but it was delicious! I got the dancing salmon sushi burrito which was half the size of the normal one, and definitely still a very generous portion. The layer of rice was nice and thin, and the salmon was super fresh and well seasoned. There was a good amount of veggies (cucumber and lettuce) inside as well which was a nice texture contrast and flavor balance. I'd come back to this spot again for their other menu items, but am super glad I got to try it!

I always loved the sushi-ritto concept. Tried the Salmon Sushi-ritto ($13ish). Order at the counter (can choose a sushi-ritto, bowl, or salad format) that they prepare in front of you assembly line style. It was well made and fresh! Wish I could've had a dipping sauce or wasabi on the side. Cutest packaging ever. There was one person working when we went. Ample amount of seating. Located in downtown University Village.

Vegetarian Review: They offer marinated tofu as a vegetarian substitute for bowls/burritos. Staff couldn't clarify whether the sauces were vegetarian, so I left it off my bowl. Overall really nice tofu rice bowl for a quick lunch!

Came here for the UDistrict $4 food walk. This place had one of my favorite bites of the day - the sumo crunch sushi-burrito. Flaky tempura, good ratio of filling to rice, and overall fantastic value. The inside of this place is so cute too. Will def be back for a whole roll

I love sushi and a burritos. Therefore, what's there not to love about a sushi burrito?? We came at lunch time on a Sunday after visiting the uw quad cherry blossoms. There was no line at all and the place was mostly empty. I got a dancing salmon burrito. It was $13, decent size! My 10 year old took a few bites and wanted one that isn't spicy. So I asked if we could do one with eel sauce instead of spicy mayo and the server had no problem with that. It's like a poke bar, you can build your own bowl or burrito. Also had pork gyoza for the 7 year old. Everything tasted great, service was good, packaging is plastic free! The interior is pleasant with lots of seating. Would definitely come here again if ever in the area!

Apparently this is the flagship location even though it's very new. That likely means a lot of resources are being put here and it's aimed to attract lots of the nearby college students like myself and hopefully hook us. With that in mind, the interior is stunning as it's not something you expect. I never went into the Jimmy Johns that used to be here so I'm not sure what the interior was beforehand, but I'm absolutely sure it was revamped like crazy. The ordering system seems very easy, but at one point they were recommending ordering online. A sign was posted out front on the ave where everyone walked by to order online and just pick-up. Because of that memory, I simply ordered online and everything was correct, no issues. They are definitely short staffed so if you choose to order inside, expect a little wait. Only two employees during my visit. Ordered the chicken karaage with two sushi burritos (dancing salmon with some customization and the dragon ball with some customization). Chicken karaage - pretty solid actually. I was surprised, chicken was very juicy and tender. Personally I prefer a more crunchy exterior but it was lightly breaded and not overwhelming. Overall positive. Dancing salmon - fresh salmon, yummy, what you kind of expect in a sushi burrito. Dragon ball - broiled eel and tempura shrimp, you can feel the warmth from the broiled eel so that was a nice addition, though it's pushed to one side which means the burrito isn't as evenly distributed and the warmth and coldness is also inconsistent through each bite. I will say, my burrito wasn't quite wrapped fully (pictured), not sure if it's intentional or not but that led to a lot of the juices, spicy mayo, and eel sauce leaking out on the bottom. Also meant the burrito fell apart easy. Anyways, as a whole, I think the sushi burritos are quite tasty. My main complaint is sizing as they're pretty small for the high cost. Obviously it's sushi so it's pricier, but I'd lean towards something like Hiroshi's for value on fish and Chipotle for value on burritos, but if I'm ever craving both at the same time? Well that's where this place comes in. Probably not a consistent go-to option, but a good fallback at the right time.

Such delicious food! I've had the sumo crunch and the dancing salmon, and both are amazing/drool worthy. It's worth mentioning how thoughtfully and precisely packaged the burritos are, too, making eating on the go easy and neat.

I was skeptical when I attempted to consume my first sushi burrito. I am part Japanese and my Japanese grandmother raised me and I like my Japanese food traditional. While attending the $4 food walk we decided to try IJ's sushi burrito. I was surprised how much I liked the salmon crunch sushi burrito. It was pleasantly delicious and a decent portion. The fish was very fresh and I liked the ratio of filling to rice. They basically cut the full size portion in half and sold it for $4 to accommodate the special event. It could've had more fish in it but other than that I have zero complaints and I am a strict sushi critic. My frequent got a poke bowl and she loved it! Good job IJ's I wouldn't mind coming back to try more of the menu.

This spot was recommended to me by a friend. The interior of the restaurant was warm and very decorated. There were a lot of Hawaiian cultural references, which added to the ambiance. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. And despite it being super busy the day that I went, they were all patient with each customer. I had a few samples of their fish, and let me tell you, the fish is FRESH. I am usually picky with tuna because they tend to have a fishy taste, but Ono's tuna was NOT fishy at all. Also, all the different flavors of poké were seasoned PERFECTLY. I got the spicy salmon and the scallop poke. They were both buttery and tender. The flavors did not overtake the natural flavor of the fish, and the sauce was seeped deep into the salmon; the same goes for the scallop. Sometimes at poké restaurants the sauce will sit on top of the fish, but NOT HERE. This place is genuinely SO SO good. I highly recommend coming to this place and trying their poké! + This place is so good that I am willing to make the trip out to this place if I am ever back in this state.

Chirashi bowl (5/5) For the price, you just can't beat it anywhere else. It's totally worth it with 5 different kinds of sushi, shrimp and eel and roe. The fish tastes fresh and the wasabi is strong. Amazing price, generous portion, excellent quality. Unagyu don (4/5) This bowl has a mix of tender beef and eel and it's quite heavy on the sauce. I wouldn't say it's very salty but it is saucy and you need to mix it with the rice properly to balance it out. The portion is generous and it is very filling. Not bad but I'd go for the chirashi every time.

Georgetown has some nice hidden gems and I would consider this one of them... just good,…read moreno-nonsense Japanese rice bowls of comfort. If you're a fan of Red Bowl in Financial District, this place has a similar vibe with its approach to rice bowls. Having been here twice on different weeks, I think this will become one of my go-to places in the area when I'm craving fresh seafood on a weekend south of downtown. LOGISTICS Parking is convenient for Georgetown area, given they have a dedicated lot for customers of businesses in the area. Entering in, you order through the kiosk and if you're dining in, you can seat yourself and they'll bring the order to you. The space is small for larger groups but if you're 4 people or less, generally there are tables available on off peak hours (at least what we observed Sat/Sun). Ordering happens at the kiosk, which you can choose for takeout or to dine in. Keep in mind there are some items available for dine-in only (ex. udon or seared salmon bowls), but if you plan on doing takeout anyways you can order online or call ahead for pickup. Note - they do close at 2:30 pm but re-open at 4:30 pm. So long as you get your order in by 2:30 pm they'll still service you... which was nice since the last two times we came in around 2:00 PM. FOOD First off, they have nice nice presentation both in how the food is arranged and the bowls they use when dining in. From the ceramic/decorative bowls to the trays they use... it's the little things that add to the dining experience and make you think a business cares about its food. (Note: there was one time we had initially ordered togo but decided to eat in person; so they kept the food in plastic bowls for one of my photos.) In every bowl we had during our two visits, the rice was excellent! We've had some terrible rice at other donburi places before where it can be too overcooked or too mushy. Fortunately their seasoned rice was a good texture and tasty to eat on its own. The seafood was also excellent for the price / quality - fresh tasting with a melt-in-your mouth texture. Volcano Bowl: Spicy salmon + spicy crab salad w/ masago - despite the description it wasn't too spicy (siracha mayo) but it went really well with the rice, like a deconstructed sushi roll. I liked mixing in some wasabi to give it a stronger kick. Aburi Sake Bowl (seared salmon bowl): This is only available to order for dine-in; if you love salmon... I would recommend this one. Seared salmon is delicious seafood umami. I liked how the salmon had the right amount of fattiness too. Chirashi Bowl: If you like variety, then this is an excellent bowl to try a little bit of everything. I was amused that they also included unagi (I don't think I see that in most chirashi bowls). Even the shrimp, which is usually my least favorite part of chirashi bowls, tasted good with a slight sweetness. OVERALL Awesome place and a good location for the area given there's parking available. Price was just right for the quality (I'm amused how much cheaper good seafood is here in Seattle compared to the Bay Area) and the staff were really friendly. There are also two excellent bouldering gyms nearby (Castle Climbing Club and Momentum)... so if you're looking to recharge after a climbing session, I would highly recommend coming here!

There are no bells and whistles here, just excellent service, fair prices, and fantastic food. There are only a handful of tables, which is really meant for solo diners and two people at best. There is a handful of takeout patrons at any given time, but that's only because of the wait. It's far more enticing to sit in and experience the magic that exists in every bowl. Water is self-serve and thankfully presented in a filtered water tank that spits out cold, delicious water. A majority of the bowls are between $13-16 each, which in today's foodflation economy seems expected. The good news is that the portion is substantial in every bowl. My go-to is their chirashi, which is roughly $19 but features a nice array of fish cuts that include salmon, chopped fatty tuna, masago, fresh water eel, shrimp with albacore and another dose of tuna. The unagi don is their most expensive bowl at nearly $21, but the broiled unagi with the eel sauce that is dynamite. The textures, the sweetness, and the size is all on point. And due to its status as a teriyaki city, I think the chicken teri don is an excellent alternative to all the seafood. The teriyaki hits all the right flavor notes, with just enough sweetness with the tenderness of the chicken meat. Add in another $1 and it's a spicy version. I so wish there was something like this in my neck of the woods. If I lived in Seattle, this would be a weekly destination. I'm already looking forward to my next visit(s).
