Ok - I'm going to admit it, I was a little slow to hop on board the Poke train. Living in California, my area lives and breathes poke. Went here for lunch today since it's just down the street from work. The way you order is different than other poke places I've been too and protein portion is A LOT smaller compare to other places. You pick your seafood, cucumber or white onion and sauce for the poke and they have additional toppings. Poke is decent but not for the amount and price I pay. I also think the music was too loud or the glass divider is too high but I had to repeat myself a couple times for the staff to hear my order and that was a bit annoying. The staff was very nice though. It was a good first time but I'll probably stick to my regular spot for future poke cravings as poke spots are popping up everywhere in seattle. Another 5 stars based on food and customer service experience. First, the food. I get the same order each time: large white rice, 3 meats (salmon, shrimp and tuna), white onion, corn and avocado with the house medium sauce. The consistency is always there. It's very very good. You can blend sauces (I don't but a good option) and yes, it's a $1 more Avocado and I'm fine with that. Customer service is always good and I have been here a few times. If you're new, they will walk you through h the ordering process and even make suggestions (not in the condescending way). For the more experience Poke eater, they are quick and efficient with your order. It's a great blend of service. I definitely think you should stop by. I usually go around 1:30-2 pm and I always seem to miss the lunch rush so no long lines for me. read more

At first, we really liked this place. The poke was good and the portion sizes were spot on. However, the past few times we've ordered from them, the portions of protein are ridiculously small. I usually get the regular bowl and my husband gets the large. No issues with his large bowl, the portions are a good size. But somehow, mine always come with a fraction of what it used to be. I finished all of the protein with more than half the rice portion leftover. It was insane! I've never seen this at other poke places, its always a 50/50 ratio. I used to barely be able to finish a regular bowl, now I can eat one barely fill full. This has happened multiple times now, so we now choose other poke places nearby but it is disappointing to have a reliable place change things up. read more

Just got this ridiculous bowl delivered. I don't complain about food ever, even if it's the wrong toppings I don't really care but this is a joke. I ordered this bowl for delivery so not only is it almost uneatable but it also cost me like $19. I asked for a little extra siracha aoli which i order every time I go there I never order anything different, they felt 2 inches deep worth of siracha soup was necessary for my bowl and like one tablespoon of avocado which was almost brown and like no rice. It's nestled on a fun street with lots of places to eat, so the fact that we picked here should say something. The service was great. The sauces were perfect. The restaurant itself was small, but clean and nice. We sat at the counter and people watched. Easily the best poke in town. The last time I went they were BLASTING dubstep, which was AWESOME as I was still experiencing the lingering "afterglow" of some particularly fine MDMA. As I shoveled a Large Bowl with Salmon And Double Tuna into my slippery vacuum of a mouth, the pounding beat and harsh, grinding synths of Riot Ten and Sullivan King's "Pit Boss (Badklaat Remix)" turned the entire culinary experience into a euphoric fever dream--I gnashed the cold, wet fish cubes between my teeth to the beat and slurped up the limber, perfectly seasoned seaweed as chainsaw-like snarls of electronic static dismantled my perception of reality, and by the time it was all over I was destroyed in the best way possible--mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. I live a block away and although I'm happy about a poke shop in Ballard, I do find myself going out of my way a little to get poke elsewhere when I want some. The reason is because it's been really hit and miss in how the staff put together my bowls. There are times when I don't get enough sauce/flavor and times where there's too much (as in I have broth at the bottom of my bowl). Not good. Perhaps some training is needed to put together consistent bowls? I think it might have finally gotten better. I came in last weekend since my other go-to spot on the way home was closed. I was looking for a place to grab a healthy lunch while in Ballard and came upon Poke Square on yelp. The entire staff seemed super enthusiastic and friendly, the food was fresh, tasty, reasonably priced, and they had a great selection. They were running a promo for a large at the price of a regular sized bowl, plus a free drink, so their incentives were on point. The place was small, probably seating no more than 15 people, but very quaint, clean, and big enough to accommodate my giant stroller and my baby sleeping in it. Having a stroller makes it difficult to check out new restaurants sometimes, but I had no problems here and my baby slept through the entire meal, which hasn't happened in awhile, so I'm super thankful. Lastly, THEY HAD A CHANGING TABLE IN THEIR BATHROOM. I've run into too many spots in Seattle that either don't allow minors in general (super annoying) or don't have accommodations for children like high chairs and changing tables. It's a choose-your-own protein & toppings place where ingredients are fresh, in a modern space with plenty of seating, and with easy-going staff. $10.95 gets you 2 proteins, while $12.95=3. I recommend experimenting with the 6 sauces, including 3 spice levels of the house poke sauce, and mixing up the bases, i.e.- 50/50 rice & spring salad. All their topping on point but I'd skip the seaweed salad. I was full on the regular portion so get the Large if you're hangry.
