One of the many dining options at the Domain. We tried this place on a Friday evening since they had happy hour. The happy hour menu has a good selection of food and drink options. There was a selection of 5 different types of cold fresh oyster, which was all fantastic. The fresh out eyes came with hot sauce, a vinegar based sauce, and horse radish. We got the soft shell crab sandwich and the fried catfish. Both entrees were good, though I thought the portion size on the soft shell carb sandwich could have been a bit more; though the sandwich was excellent, but the fries were fairly bland. Lucked out & had a night with no kids last night. While we generally avoid the Domain area, the wife & I indulged in a few drinks over a couple stops along Rock Rose while watching the College World Series on TV. A great night. Breezy & almost cool after another oppressive 100° day. Tons of folks flocking around the newer area of the Domain. Looking for a descent place on our handy Yelp app, we decided to make the walk around the Domain from Rock Rose to the original area to check out Plank Seafood. While this ain't a review for the Domain in general, it's gotten sketchy!,,,, by 8:00 the streets in the old area were closed down. It looked like 2AM. All of the fancy stores had closed & closed those chain, burglar bar things behind their windows. Dirty & desolate. The area is odd. However, once we arrived at Plank there were actually a few more humans around. Not many but a few). Seated immediately, because only 2 other groups in the place other than us. Food was amazing. We had Simply grilled Sea scallops and Bacon Wrapped Shrimp & grits. Couldn't have made it better. Drinks stout & tasty! Great time. We walked out at 9:03 as the only ones left in Plank. Weird! If catfish Fridays are your thing then Plank is the place for you! Situated in the Domain's older side near Macy's is this beautiful restaurant with interior to match an upscale marina theme. We started with a fresh shrimp cocktail served on ice. Every bite was appetizing. It was lunchtime so we decided to split a catfish platter. This mouthwatering fish was crisped to perfection served with a side of thin golden brown fries and a salad. The lunch crowd was light and the service was impeccable. Walking in to Plank, I love the atmosphere and the ambience of the place! It's very nice to grab a drink and hang out. The service was great! My waiter was super friendly and helpful because it was my first time at Plank. Food I ordered: - Calamari: There was too much flour to the calamari. I want to be able to enjoy the squid but I mostly ate just the flour. - Thai Clam Chowder: Definitely more potatoes than clam. It was fusion kind of clam chowder, I recommend trying it since it's different from the original clam chowder. - Wood Grilled Ahi Tuna: I always love ahi tuna so I had to get this! This was lightly seared and there was noodles underneath. I would say this dish is Japanese fusion kind-of noodle. It's a weird mix with Ahi Tuna though. - Iced Raw Oysters: The oysters is an A+ since it was so fresh! Overall, it was okay. A lot of weird pairing for an Asian fusion with the seafood, but it wasn't my kind of fusion to my tasting. read more

We ordered the seafood tower and requested ours to be brought after our first drink. It was in seconds delivered- now this wasn't a disappointment. What was disappointing is the amount of gnats you'd have to fight off since they have live plants. Live plants are a nice feature but definitely not needed if your dine-in-guest are doing karate chops while trying to enjoy a meal. Ask, check your glass to make sure no gnats jumped in for a swim. We would not return for two reasons - overpriced food and gnat issue. read more

Walked around the Domain and was just looking for a place to eat for dinner, decided to eat here because it smelled fantastic outside. The food we got was incredible! Try the Ahi Tuna ramen, best ramen I have ever had hands down. The red fish was very savory and flavorful. If you're drinking, get the margarita (the bubbles are salty!) or the Island Hopper! Every time we took a bite we said "wow" audibly. Exceeded my expectations for a seafood restaurant by far. read more

Last night I went back to Plank with my daughter and two friends. We got there @ 5:15 pm, the place was virtually empty; we were seated promptly and started to order drinks and food. Let me mention this isn't my first time at Plank, it is my 4 or fifth time. Always good, but last night was exceptional. Why you may ask? Well, they updated the menu, and added a couple of unbelievably delectable items. I always enjoy their calamari, last night was no exception. We also ordered the golden beets, and the tuna with rice, then a friend had the red fish, another had the most amazing dish, shrimp wrapped in bacon and grits...by far the BEST grits I ever had...so delicious. My daughter had another shrimp dish which was good, I had the Salmon which is always good, but the piece de resistance was the Basmati rice with curry and crab...OMG...it was incredible. The richness of the flavor, the perfection of the curry spices and the awesomeness of the taste. WE all agreed it was the best thing ever. We also had desert, the chocolate with the peanut butter ice cream which was Wow...not enough words to describe. My friends had drinks, they said they were good. They let sit for more than a couple of hours, Scott, our server was kind and amazingly patient. Add good service to the equation. All in all a great evening with friends, food and drink. A MILLION THANKS to all the hard working people, the chefs, the servers, the hostesses, who make it possible for the rest of us to have a Merry Christmas and wonderful holiday season. My husband and I really enjoyed this restaurant yesterday! Here is my take: Ambiance- love the casual yet fine dining feel. The coastal elements in the heart of the Domain shopping center is refreshing. Seafood- great quality imported in and I enjoyed the array of quality seafood they offer. Service- tremendous! From the front hostess as soon as we walked in was very polite, our waiter Jordan was pleasant and accommodating, the manager Lindsey made sure to check on our table and even sparked conversation with us, and other waiters running our food to the table made sure our needs were met even with how busy they were on a Saturday evening. Kitchen- they did a great job with the PEI Mussels (the broth was so flavorful) and I loved the Mexican flare to the dish with chicharrones on top. I recommend the dressed oysters with roe (they were on point), the bacon wrapped shrimp over grits with crawfish beurre blanc, the charred shishito peppers, and surprisingly.... the OVERBOARD OYSTER which was a vodka shot, oyster, cocktail sauce, hot sauce, and dirty mix. Drinks- my husband liked the beer offerings and outside of the overboard oyster shot the signature drinks were OK in my opinion. However, the wine selection is great to pair with the seafood offerings. Overall it was a great experience and a refreshing place to stop in to re-energize or in my case... have some quality food before we went to the soccer stadium for the game. We went for the oysters which were displayed beautifully with small tinctures included vinaigrette, hot sauce and a small bowl of horseradish. We also tried the dressed oysters which were absolutely phenomenal! They had jalapeño shoyu and smoked trout roe. I definitely preferred these over their plain oysters. The pink Paloma cocktail was yummy and refreshing. Had such A bright flavor like that of grapefruit , oranges, and other citrus fruits. So we were wandering around The Domain and wanted to grab a bite for a mid afternoon snack. We got 8 oysters, the fish tacos, the crab cakes, and the roasted brussel sprouts. The oysters and the miso roasted brussel sprouts were quite good. The crab cakes, in comparison, were lackluster. They (two patties total) measured about maybe a touch under 1cm in height and about 4cm in diameter. They were also a bit overcooked and ended up being a bit on the chewier side as well. It was paired with a sour cabbage slaw and sour chipotle looking cream sauce beneath it. At $22, it was really disappointing (especially coming from a place that supposedly specializes in seafood). The fish tacos, at close to $20, comes as 2 tacos and fries. We had the blackened (rather than fried) version, and again, for a place that specializes in seafood, it was just.... Ok. For a total of about $90 pre tax and tip, it was a significant amount of money for simply mediocre food. Service was also quite disappointingly slow at 2pm on a Saturday when the place was only perhaps half full. What you're paying for is the "Domain tax". It was a nice ambiance, and the dining views were upscale; however, I'd rather look at dreary surroundings with excellent food rather than the other way around. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. They've only been open a week and we've already been there twice. The main highlight for me is their amazing service. I can't tell you how many times different people checked on us to make sure everything was just as we liked it. The service seemed like a well oiled machine and I was impressed. The second highlight for me is how kid-friendly they are. They give kids a pack of seven crayons and a large coloring sheet. My daughter was extra excited about all the crayons. It's double what other restaurants give. Also, their kids meals are like very large bento boxes. I appreciated how they made the kids feel welcome as well. Now we can talk about the food. I've ordered almost all the small plates by this point, and they were all unique and delicious. The Thai Clam Chowder was out of this world. This was the best dining experience I've had in a while! We went for my mom's birthday and were so impressed. We sat outside in the patio area which is beautifully and comfortably decorated. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We ordered the salmon and the red snapper as entrees- both felt like the perfect serving size and were delicious. My husband got 1/2 dozen oysters to start and they were fresh and he says delicious (I don't do oysters). I got the golden beets and they were like a little explosion of yumminess with every bite! Even my veggie hating husband loved them!! Then we shared the fried flounder and fries and a side of the macaroni and cheese. Perfection! The manager visited us and was so nice! I also tried a few oysters. The hostess asked if she could take one of our chairs for another guest, which I of course agreed to. Just a a couple of minutes, another hostess came over and told us she was taking care of our first round of drinks. My friend and I shared the wood grilled salmon, but my friend prefers her salmon well done. My friend asked them to cook her pieces more. When the waiter went over to ask about that, the kitchen offered to remake the entire dish to her liking at no extra cost. Who does that??? The food was very tasty. Took my wife there last night to celebrate her birthday (she loves seafood) and it was perfect. Our server, Sara M, was super friendly and attentive, and gave great recommendations. Felt like an old friend who happened to be your server for a night. Other staff that came by to drop off food or drinks were also very attentive and checked in on us, which was a pleasant surprise. I had the Fried Flounder, which was delicious and perfectly breaded, but the star of the show was easily my wife's Ahi Tuna. It was perfectly cooked and the noodles it came with tasted magical. The ambiance and decor were lovely. Upscale without being ritzy so you felt at ease. For drinks I had a Strawberry Surfer and she had a Passion Palmer (non-alcoholic). Both were perfectly balanced and delicious. Will definitely be going back in the future! read more

It was not too rich which I loved, there was a perfect amount of herb with citrus blend. I finished dinner off with a chocolate terrine and OH MY GOD it was mouth watering. Decided on the $95 grand seafood tower because it sounded lovely and none of it - and I mean none of it - was tasty. Oysters had 0 flavour. Shrimp were bone dry and coated with Old Bay seasoning. Scallop ceviche was just so odd - tasted gluey and the fennel salad did nothing for it. Yellowtail sashimi was yep- you guessed it: dry! Clearly had been sitting in the fridge for ages too as it was just way too cold. The highlight of this seafood tower were the 2 the soft boiled eggs topped with caviar - no joke. Absolutely love the commitment to sustainability and the pride they have in fishing responsibly but I'll take a fully farmed seafood platter at Eddie v's or Trulucks before I order one here again. Would absolutely return to try a hot dish but man this was a hundred bucks down the drain, super disappointing. read more

The service is probably the worse I have ever had. Orders were put incorrectly, not once but twice and it wasn't too busy. We had to wait for water refills. I was about to get up myself and get the water pitcher. We got the Wood Grill Seafood Tower and it was bland and over cooked. The chowder was good but for $10 it should be more than just an 8 oz cup that wasn't even full. We also ordered two drinks and got charge for three. I dined here on the opening day of this restaurant and had a great experience. I"m just glad that the Domain has a real seafood restaurant finally. I had the soft shell crab sandwich and it was delicious. Very flavorful and the fries were great as well. I tasted my friend's salmon and it was great as well. I will say that I would have still been hungry had I gotten the salmon as my whole meal. It's more like an appetizer. The restaurant says that all the plates are shareable (and they are technically) but most of the options are enough for a whole meal. The drinks were tasty as well. I had the Island Hopper and the Strawberry Surfer. The Strawberry Surfer was my favorite They have a very nice patio as well that allows you to people watch. If you are coming just to go to the restaurant, the best place to park is in the parking lot behind the Macys, Zara, Coppper Restaurant. You can cut through by the Copper and be close to the restaurant. read more

The Brussels were delish, tartare fantastic. I'm allergic to shrimp, apparently, so I steered clear of some seafood options but the curry basmati rice with crab, yum.
