Unprofessional Service - Food Tampering Over Tips? I visited PizzaHacker for the first time yesterday around 3:45 PM, ordering an OHIO pizza and salad. As a Marin native, I've passed by this place countless times and was eager to try it. I want to be very clear--the pizza and salad were delicious. The issue, however, lies with the service. I never leave digital tips, preferring to tip in cash. When the staff saw "no tip" on the screen, the individual preparing my pizza cut it in an extremely odd way, making it difficult to share equally. It was clear this was done intentionally, likely because they assumed I wouldn't tip. When I handed over a $10 cash tip, the young man at the register turned red in the face. Food tampering over a tip? This is deeply concerning. I reached out to the manager for an explanation, but I've received no feedback, apology, or compensation, which only reinforces my disappointment. I won't be returning because, if the kitchen is willing to intentionally cut my pizza wrong over a tip, what else are they willing to do to my food? Unprofessional behavior like this in Marin is unacceptable. read more

Very solid, tasty pizza in a cool patio spot. We went here with a group of four and a dog, and sat at an outdoor table. The four of us split two pizzas - the Hawaiian and the Short Bridge (Sopressata, House-made Hot Italian Sausage, Fresh Mozzarella, Creamy Mushroom, Tomato Sauce). Pizza is not bad, some good options. I dont think the service is particularly bad or good. The environment is usually pretty crowded and a bit unwelcoming. People post out over there with their kids like they are moving in. Many times Ive showed up and there is some event where you are forced to walk through the back instead of coming through the front. Parking is stressful and there is limited space. They used to have this awesome rootbeer but they updated for a new brand that tastes like 1 part rootbeer and 9 parts water. I came here after an outdoor climbing session and the pizza was bomb! It also could have been bc we climbed for 4+ hours and my body was in need of food. But one thing that pissed me off was how they sliced my pizza. This was our first visit to The Junction, there to see Kanekoa band. The pizzas from Pizzahacker were a delightful surprise, the best we've had outside of Tuscany. Amazing crusts that are thin yet crunchy, and first class toppings. We also appreciated the great service. We came for lunch. Sat outside nice sunny day. Slight wind. Cool area outside. I like the order menu simplicity through the phone. We had a cheese, chorizo, and pepperoni pizza plus a few beers. The place was full of other people but not packed. My impression- no music, good pizza decent selection of beer and hard kombucha on tap. My 3 stars is decided because the chairs and tables suck. Feel like kindergarten class tables. Sticky and uneven. With 11$ beers be careful. Also I try and love the fact that dogs are excepted everywhere. But does everyone have to bring their dog!!! I have 5 dogs so I know what my backyard does if I don't clean up the hair. It traps hair and if it's windy that hair goes everywhere!!! Here at pizza hacker-hair was everywhere!!! I had to pick dog out of every piece of pizza I ate. Pretty gross but what do I do? Again I have a lot of dogs so I'm speaking from experience. Sorry but it was really bad. Came here for lunch. I love the outdoor dining area. There's plenty of picnic table seating to spread out in. You order at the front and they bring your food out to you. They have a nice offering of local craft beers and drinks. I appreciate that they have vegan options. We ended up getting the Inside Out pizza with Vegan Mozzarella. I would say these pizzas lean towards the healthier side (thinner crust, lots of fresh veggie toppings). I really liked the pizza!! Filling, and not greasy or over salty at all. Parking is difficult here, but worth it for the pizza! Pick up is a little chaotic, but goes pretty fast. Most people eat at the restaurant here as they have a great big outdoor area to eat, complete with kids playground. Pizza is yummy with a chewy/crusty crust. Swung by this place on Sunday afternoon after a hike in Marin on my way back to SF and was thoroughly impressed! It's kind of hidden, so hard to tell this place has a great indoor and outdoor space - they had live music when we arrived which was really cool. Lots of amazing beers on tap, we ordered a salad which was surprisingly fantastic (large and delicious) in addition to pizzas which were pretty good. Perhaps a bit on the pricey side for the pizzas, but they were quality. They have a gf deep dish pizza which worked well for a few folks in my group; though those were much smaller than the normal pizza and should be considered as one per person; not really sharable. Service was quick; you order from your phone and they bring it to your table -- easy and efficient. As I mentioned earlier; ambiance is by far the best thing this place has --- very large space, both indoor and outdoor, clean and well kept. This seems like a great spot to even come for just a beer and listen to live music. I'll definitely be back. read more

The food and service have gone way downhill since the year or two after they opened. Bartender with black and blue hair was exceedingly rude when all I asked was a question. Employees are young and have little concept of customer service and basic hospitality. Though the young men were somewhat pleasant enough, the young females didn't smile once and behave as though they're doing you a big favor. Please. Horrible attitude. It really bothered me and ruined my entire mood. Another reviewer commented on how rude the females are. Not what I want when taking the time to eat out with a friend. Table was sticky; no care to wipe after previous diners. Pizzas were subpar. Almost no cheese, skimpy on the toppings overall, totally burnt black crust on both all the way around and very dry. Really disappointing because I ordered one of the same pizzas as before and there was no comparison. Unfortunately the Margarita pizza was also horrible. My friend has worked in food service for decades and was appalled that they charged him for an iced tea refill; said he's never ever known anywhere to do that. One feedback, was excited to take my daughter there and when she found out they had gluten free pizza she was stoked. Unfortunately the gluten pizza fell short. Way short of her expectations. Weren't expecting a loaf of gluten free bread with toppings. With the level of quality of the other pizzas, I was expecting her to be blown away. After completing an 8 mile hike (Dipsea/Steep Ravine/Matt Davis) my fiancé and I were hungry and ready to treat ourselves to some pizza and beer. We arrived around 3pm on a Saturday and they were pretty busy but had plenty of indoor seating available (all socially distant from other tables). We were sat immediately indoors (close the outside space though) but would've had to wait 30-40 minutes for outdoor seating. We ordered from PizzaHacker the Short Bridge pizza (with no mushrooms) and a side of ranch. The pizza was so good with gooey cheese and crispy wood fired crust! I typically don't chose sausage on pizza but I thought their's was delicious! The ranch tasted really fresh and homemade and paired well with our pizza. This is the best pizza in Marin. This and Creekside in San Anselmo. Oliver's is respectable 2nd place but it's no Pizza Hacker.

Pizza Hacker's Mill Valley outpost is co-located inside the new terrific biergarten in Tam Junction, the Junction (check out my review for the Junction.) Pizza Hacker brought their San Francisco pizzeria menu to Mill Valley, a Marin town with arguably more pizza restaurants than makes sense, but most are still somehow in business, meaning there is a clear demand for pies. Pizza Hacker meets that need with good charred thin crust pies, and its a nice option for successful and safe dining outdoors. The menu is straightforward: pizza and beer. Its worth mentioning that while the menu is mostly limited to pizza, they do have a couple of fresh salads, a Kale Caeasar with anchovies and eggs, and my favorite, the Intermezzo, which is colorful and delicious, full of radicchio, little gem, rainbow carrot, radish, chickpeas, a farm egg and a sweet, garlicky honey-poppyseed dressing. Most seating at the Junction is outdoors on distanced picnic tables or spaced adirondack chairs. (There is light, airy indoor space, but at the time of writing, indoor dining is not allowed in Marin due to COVID.) The beer, cider, wine, sparkling wine and kombucha menu here (run by the Junction side of the house) is extensive, with many of the offerings either on tap, or in the bottle. Ordering with Pizza Hacker (and from the bar) is done through your phone, and arrives at your table carried by a friendly, inobtrusive, mask-wearing server, which feels safe and thoughtful. Although pizza is the one thing Mill Valley already has plenty of, the PizzaHacker crew has kept it tasty, assuming you like a charred thin crust. We like their chorizo and olive pizza with its thin crust and tangy tomato sauce. It is nice that they have spaced, outdoor seating, which is really a prerequisite for any sane person eating in a public venue at this moment. read more

Excellent, we'll-blistered pizza napolitana served here. We've tried several and never struck out. All we're good, some were excellent. They have a Margherita Pizza done for kids that's always a hit. We've had a pineapple pizza that's fantastic, the nepolatana that's BOMB, the broccoli raab (could have used more balance). Their kale Caesar is yum, haven't enjoyed others so much. Of course, probably my favorite thing about this place is their large outdoor seating area. It's got a kids play place so our family is absolutely happy eating here. We often are in Marin on Sunday evenings and the only problem is if they have a loud band then. I had asked for a handoff directly to me to confirm order, but I guess that wasn't relayed to the driver or it was ignored.. I open the door and only see a pizza box. I text the Dasher, zero response. So I call PizzaHacker. Guy I speak with says it's not at the store so not their problem and I'll need to sort it out with DoorDash. DoorDash refunded the missing items, but dinner didn't quite feed everyone it was meant to. FWIW, the pizza was pretty good so an extra star there. read more

I was there last night with a group of friends. We started at a table inside and ended eating outside. Our order was tied to the inside table which we did not know. Instead of coming outside and calling out the name on our order they took the order back to the kitchen where the pizza sat for about 20 mins. and was cold by the time we went inside and found someone to ask about our order. Hey, only one time here. I see complaints about a charred crust - definitely thin sourdough crust (my fave) NOT charred but done well - crispy throughout. If it's too charred, ask for a new one or make sure they know what you want. Why complain about it later if you don't set it up right in the first place or get it corrected? I had the Inside/Out since I love broccoli rabe. Scrumptious!! Especially w/the garlic creme. Low key signage on the road so I was surprised at the size and loveliness of the seating out back. Nice folks, got my questions answered though I dislike ordering from QR codes. Autonomy is nice but I feel like I'm really now just tipping for delivery to my table and the cooks. Interaction with staff is mostly impersonal so if I have a need problem or a need I have to find and flag people down. A complaint about the whole QR process, not just this place. TL;DR Great pizza with a huge outdoor seating patio to enjoy beautiful weather I came here with some friends after a hike up in Mill Valley, and we couldn't have asked for a better spot. We arrived at around 1pm, and seating was crowded but not packed - we easily found a table outside with plenty of space. There are picnic-style tables, several fire pits with armchairs set around them, as well as a playground area for kids. Ordering is via QR code at the table, and the menu is extensive but not intimidating. We had 4 adults and settled on 3 pizzas - we were plenty full with leftovers. All 3 pizzas were great, and I'd look forward to trying their salads and maybe a sandwich in the future. All the pizzas were fantastic - crust was thin and blistered, but substantial enough to hold up the toppings without folding. Toppings were well dispersed throughout the pizzas, making sure there were no topping-less bites. Cheese was just right, bonding everything together without being overly cheesy or oily. All the topping combinations were top notch - the Rocket Man felt a little weird with a single egg in the middle, but proved to be a group favorite. read more
