When I heard about Pie Bar, I couldn't wait to check it out - place where eI can go and have a mini pie, a cup of coffee and perhaps play a game/hang out with friends? Sign me up! This is a cute place! I've never seen a mainstream pie shop before so this was a first for me. I like that there are different dessert types - they have pies but also cookies and ice cream and mousse which you can buy by the scoop. I got a simple single scoop of mousse with one topping, which is $4.50. They do let you sample the mousses too, and I picked the brownie batter which is sweet like chocolate but not so much so that it's overwhelming. My friend got one of the turtle mini cheesecakes which I sampled and that was sooo smooth and creamy. The staff were friendly and helpful and the vibes inside are really nice! They have some high tables, regular tables, corner soft chairs, and even a little electric fireplace with a couch and some chairs and a coffee table right in front of it. The place isn't huge, but it's big enough that it doesn't feel crowded at all. Overall, it's a really great dessert spot! I only knocked off a star because if prices were a bit lower it would REALLY knock my socks off but given the novelty of it, I don't think prices are bad either (eg a DIY mini pie is like $7, and sizing up the prices increase from there). Would definitely recommend any dessert lover give this place a try, it could even be good to study there during the day when it's quiet. read more

Finally got around to trying the Pie Bar. Came on a rainy, Tuesday afternoon and it was empty. There's a case of prepared pies/cheesecakes/cookies and the bar that allows you to build your own. My husband did the Coconut Cream (only pie that's not mousse -- it's more like a custard) and I did the Key Lime pie. (I freaking LOVE key lime pie and even though I was in the mood for chocolate, I couldn't resist the key lime). Coconut Cream - thicker, great coconut flavor, blondie crust insanely good! Key Lime - light, perfect amount of tangy:sweet, little dollop of whipped cream, and blondie crust. The blondie crust is almost like a shortbread cookie. If I had 10 stomachs, I would've tried the Mexican Chocolate or done a build your own using the cheesecake mousse. Hubby would've done the affogato but their espresso machine was down. All the more reason to return! I loved that they had games and ample seating. The "other pie place" everyone knows and loves in Austin is just takeaway so this was an added to treat to be able to sit and enjoy our pie with some games. They do have a punchcard (which I will always ask for/sign up for rewards) but it was only one punch per visit -- even though we ordered two pies. Friendly service and very welcoming. In love with Pie Bar and will be back to try more of their flavors! Their pies are perfect to split for a sweet treat between 2 people. We got the pumpkin cheesecake mousse in a 4 inch mini pie to split for movie night and it was so creamy and delicious! We also tried the key lime and our next pie on the list is the turtle cheesecake. Their fillings are whipped but not too heavy & not too light - perfect for a pie. They have a make your own bar or pre-made favorites (like the turtle) that you can quickly pick up for a grab and go. Pie Bar was recently added to Uber Eats delivery in my area (Kyle,) and I feel like angels have been sent to satisfy a craving I never even knew existed. If I could eat their key lime mousse every day without gaining 500lbs, I would! That stuff is dangerous it's so good! What is better than getting a mini pie? They have full sized pies too, and you can even just get the filling without the crust. For crust you can get vanilla or chocolate-kind of like a graham cracker crust I would say. Then you can choose the filling and the toppings. It's a little pricey ($7 for a single tart), but there's nothing else like it in Austin, that I know of anyways. I wanted to bring my 8 year old nephew here for a while and finally got the opportunity today! This place just appealed to me as a surprise for him because the thought of a getting being able to pick fillings, crusts, toppings etc and it's not ice cream seemed fun! He explained how to go about ordering, said my nephew could try EACH FLAVOR (baby boy slipped on that cuz he was set on birthday cake) and nicely laid out all the choices to my nephew. This guy is obviously good with kids (LADIES ). Now the pies. My nephew really enjoyed his order. I tried a small bite of his birthday cake filling with sprinkles. I can see why kids love it. Its so darn sweet! Too much for my 30 something year old tastebuds. I also bought 4 premade pies. Turtle cheesecake, mexican chocolate (for my sister heading to mexico monday), death by chocolate and lemon. I tried the turtle cheesecake and it was great! Not too sweet or overly heavy. I'm sorry, but we thought Pie Bar was terrible. I'll start with the positives: Good ambiance--very cute & classy. If this was a coffee shop it would be packed all the time. Great selection of games you can play while there, so that's fun. Good customer service. Enough said. The negatives: The actual pies: my husband initially said, "It tastes like frosting", but that's not quite right. The actual consistency and flavor of the mousse is more like, if frosting was mixed with...Cool Whip? We've had mousse desserts in the past, and if this place has dairy in theirs, it's a very small amount. Tastes very artificial, not like real mousse. I had the "build your own" with birthday cake flavor and Oreo, and my husband got the pre-made banana crème. The banana crème has a LOT of fake banana flavoring in it--why do places do this? Why does a fancy-ish place do this? I had the same experience at Chik-Fil-A ordering their banana-crème shake. I was appalled that Pie Bar gave a desert experience on par with a fast food joint. read more

The kids love going here as they can each get their own special pie. I enjoy it as I would prefer this over frozen yogurt or ice cream any day.
