If you must eat near the Fountain, go to Il Chianti, that's a much nicer restaurant right next door. Ambiance: tiny and cramped. Only one bathroom for both genders and poorly maintained. Do yourself a favor and get out and away from the Fountain to neighborhoods like Trastevere or Ponte for much nicer restaurants. I'm so sad we found this place on our last night in Rome. Everything was perfect from the moment we stepped in to the time we left. We were greeted with the friendliest manager who let us have our pick of a table (we arrived at 6:00 and beat the huge rush that came after us) and he gave great menu recommendations and even talked us out of over ordering because he knew it would be too much food for us. I thought that was a nice touch and showed he cared about his customers rather than just trying to make money. We ended up sharing the fettuccini pomodoro which was so fresh and perfectly cooked with a side of Parmesan cheese. My husband ordered the margherita pizza and I was torn between the sausage pizza and white pizza. When I asked for the manager's recommendation he said he would give me the special - half and half :) I am so indecisive so this was a dream come true. We walked by this restaurant every single day we were in Rome as it was close to our Air BnB. There was always this long line down the small street directly across from the restaurant. By the 4th day of walking by and seeing the size of the line I caved and decided I had to try this place that has people lining up like this everyday. I have to say it was worth the wait. We stood in line for roughly 45 minutes. The restaurant is small but the flavors were big and delicious. They had so many options for pizza and everything we ordered was so good. The server was so kind and joyful. She answered so many questions and even accommodated me when I asked for the anchovies to be removed from a pizza I wanted to try. The food came out quickly and it was hot and fresh and you could tell the dough was made with love and perfectly wood fired. I'm leaving this review because I wish I had read a review that hold me... We saw them have empty tables when we were the next ones to go in but they waited 5-10 mins. Then when we entered they told us (me and my husband) to pick between two small tables but then I saw another couple behind us go to a four seater table and there were other four seater tables available so I got up and sat at four seater. We usually order a lot of food and I wanted a bigger table. A couple came up and got confused because my husband was still getting up from our original table. The server yelled at me very loudly and bent down and said very condescendingly "your taking their table" right in my face. We were actually 4 couples in front of them and I tried to explain that I just wanted a bigger table. We had been in front of the line but we had to get the smaller table. And other couples got a bigger table. He would not listen or try to figure out what I was talking about. He kept yelling. It was very rude. So we ventured up the street to the Albert Pub and had a couple drinks to kill some time. When we went back it was only a few more minutes and we were seated. Such a great place and in a great location. It's definitely not a tourist trap by any means, but they are kind and courteous to any tourists who straggle in after visiting Trevi Fountain (I think my general experience in Italy has been that people are extremely warm when you're looking for food, regardless if you speak Italian or not). I went in with my mom, my aunt, and her 5 year old daughter. The restaurant is small and intimate, but that's all restaurants in Europe, right? Right when we walked in I knew we were in for a treat, the pizza oven sort of lives in a white tiled wall and it is a thing of beauty. I learned that it is 100 years old and that these guys burn Ash, Maple, and Oak. We ordered a capriciossa and the other one i forget but basically a Margarita with 4 beautiful anchovies forming an x like formation. These were the best 2 pizzas I have ever had, the crust was perfect, the ingredients all top level. These guys are the best. Before we came to Italy on this trip, we had decided that we were going to eat in restaurants that were family owned and operated. We had read about this restaurant and knew we had to come here. We called for a reservation, and they had a table ready for us when we arrived. Simon, our server, was so welcoming and attentive. It is right up the street from the Trevi Fountain. The restaurant opened in 1916 and is a small, charming restaurant with several tables inside and outside. We enjoyed a Cotto Giallo Parmi pizza (a white pizza with cooked ham, fig sauce, and parmigiana cheese) as well as Radicchio Gorgonzola (a white pizza with gorgonzola cheese and radicchio). Both pizzas were thin crusted and beyond delicious. Luca, the owner, was right there working alongside of his staff to make sure that everyone had a great dining experience. The pizzas were higher priced than other places; but, so worth it for the quality ingredients used. Our total cost for the 2 pizzas, and a bottle of water was € 31.50. Although it's on a rather touristy street, this place, unlike the others around it, doesn't need anyone standing outside to advertise. The house wine was great (tried both red and white). Ended it with homemade tiramisu which was fresh and delish. It was a great ending to my final night here in Rome.
