Overall 7/10. My partner and I got the burrata and bread as an appetizer, I would give it a 5/10. The tomatoes were fresh and juicy but the burrata was a bit thick (referring to the outer aspect). Also the bread was a bit tough. The amatriciana was good, but not worth a 2 hour wait in a line, 7.5/10. Pasta was perfectly al dente, but the sauce wasn't anything to die for. I think you can get a very similar possibly better pasta in Rome without the wait. My girlfriend got the gnocchi pasta, which she said was a 7/10. The gnocchi was great, but again the sauce wasn't anything special Tiramisu, 10/10. This was amazing. It was sweet without being overpowering. The ladyfingers weren't soggy, and had that strong espresso taste. I would come back here just for this dessert. Also if you don't like cramped spaces, probably not the best spot. I could hear the people next to me better than I could hear the person across me haha.
While we waited in line, we were able to place a drink order and once seated, we did see some tables with chairs very close together that if you were one of the unfortunate souls that were between tables - it will be hard to leave your seat. I have had better cacio e pepe but my husband loved the amatriciana. We shared the tiramisu which was very delicious. It was cool to check out, but with so many options in Trastevere, definitely a one and done.
The BEST meal I had in Italy. This place is unreal. There is always a line so be sure to arrive 30 minutes before they open to be seated right away. They do have a bartender taking orders for drinks while you wait in line which is nice. A must order is their burrata with marinated tomatoes, I will be dreaming about going back for this for a while. We also ordered 3 pastas because we had to try them all; cacio e pepe, carbonara, and amatriciana. All of them were phenomenal. I would come back to Rome just for this meal.
The carbonara and the strawberry with mascarpone was delicious and service was excellent. We waited an hour to get a table but it was a lively line on a pretty, cobbled Italian street. A waiter came out and served beverages to those waiting in line. We had an Aperol spritz and beer while we waited. My only complaint was the pasta was a little crunchy in my cacio e pepe. The sauce was yummy and I ate it all anyway. I would not order it again, though.
The BEST meal I had in Rome. Yes there's a lot of hype around it but the dish I had did it for me and I would eat it all the time if I could! The Burrata was DELICIOUS. My favorite dish was their AMATRICIANA. I had this dish multiple times in Rome and daEnzo does it the best! I never knew I would like pork cheek... anyways. I also had their artichoke Roman style and Jewish style, you can't go wrong either way. And I topped it off with their Tiramisu- WELL DONE! The line gets long, but I would say it's worth the 45-60 min wait and your food comes quickly. Until next time!
There was something online that said you should eat here if this was your last meal on earth. It was pretty close and this is my new favorite restaurant in Rome! Nothing too fancy, just good fresh food! No reservations, so you wait in line. It was raining and not as terrible as it sounds. We came in for a later lunch so there was a line but only a handful of groups ahead of us. The wait wasn't too long and they kept the line moving. The staff was nice and able to seat 8 of us at one table. We kind of over-ordered but didn't regret it. I heard the bread starter was good but I only got one piece from the two orders as the teens were hungry. We also ordered the olive oil as it was not included. The burrata was beautiful and the tomatoes were SO fresh. And get more artichokes than you think you should have. I devoured one by myself. Lots of wine and lemonade was a treat and added to the meal. Our pasta dishes were so good and I don't think we had one piece left on our plates. The meatballs were kind of expensive for what you get and we probably wouldn't order that again because the pasta was the star. We had to share the tiramisu dessert...we ordered one for two people to share...it was perfect as them come in the same glass as your water glass - so you can see the size. If you are in the area, don't get deterred by the line...stop in because it is worth it.
If you're looking for a pasta spot in Rome that's worth waiting in line for, this is the place. We got the Carbonara and Amatriciana -- both were super delicious. Their pasta is unlike any place I've tried, and the guanciale had amazing flavors and the perfect amount of crisp. As for the wait, we arrived around 7:30 pm on a Thursday and got seated at 9 pm. We were luckily seated inside (it was a bit cold) and got a table separated from the rest, which was nice since it's a bit tight in there. The service was also great and the pasta came out after 10-15 minutes of ordering.
Da Enzo was our best meal in Rome. Worth the wait, and lived up to the hype. You'd think in Rome you could find great Roman pasta anywhere - not so on our recent trip, but Da Enzo was the real deal. We showed up right at opening time and had an hour wait. The place is quaint, but very small, and we had been warned about the wait. It went by fast, as the courteous staff comes out to take drink orders, and we passed the time with other guests in line. Once inside, however, the staff was right down to business. We had a meatball appetizer, and I got Amatriciana. Both were great, as was the bread. The Amatriciana was done perfectly, with al dente pasta and the guanciale nice and crisp. We got tee shirts to commemorate the great experience! A really great place.
As a picky eater, this pasta in my 28 years of living is the only plate of pasta I have ever completely cleared and would've been ready to have 2-4 plates more of it. I ordered the arancini, carbonara, and a tiramisu and my family and I have all discussed how we would simply fly back to Rome for the soul purpose of going back for another serving. I know the line down alleyway can be intimidating but I promise you, it is more than worth the wait! Whether you are going for lunch for dinner the food, the service, the ambiance, and the ability still stands true!
This was my first dinner in Italy and it was very upsetting in many ways. I got there at 6:45 and there was a two hour wait. That's fine. I'm so tired but I'll persevere for what people say is the best restaurant in trestavere. Once I got 2/3rd of the way down the line they came by to take drink orders. I got an aperol spritz which was delicious and quite strong especially on an empty stomach. When I was like 4/5th of the way down the line they asked if I wanted to sit with another solo diner and I refused. Appreciate the thought but I already waited so long and was so close to getting my own table. Then I finally miraculously get seated. Waiter asks if I want still or sparkling, I say still. Then all of a sudden, the host who sat me down came back and told me to get back to the front of the line - there was a mistake. I see a fancy white couple get seated where I was. I didn't see them waiting in line at all. Then I see the owner chitchatting with them. So that must mean they get special treatment, and they matter more than a paying customer who waited 2 hours in line jetlagged and tired from touring all day. This put a bitter taste in my mouth but I didn't want to cause a scene so I stayed polite and meek. Then the cherry on top was my carbonara took literally 45 minutes to come out. No apologies for the delay, no explanation. I was so drunk off my wine by that point. I just wish I could have enjoyed my tasty food without all these negative experiences. I will never come back, no food is worth feeling so little.
Da-LINE! It was at least an hour wait, but was it worth it? It depends. Personally, the Al dente was a bit toothy for my taste. We had the carbonara, fettuccine fava bean (special), shaved artichoke salad (special) and tiramisu. Everything was fresh and tasty. The standout was definitely the tiramisu. It was light and creamy. Overall, is it the best place to eat? I say, it was good, but it wasn't the BEST Italian restaurant on our trip. Note that there was an American woman who heckled us in the crowd for waiting in the long line because she said that there are the restaurants with the same quality of food without the line. After eating there, I would have to agree. I think the reason why it's so busy is because they feature it on food tours in Italy. Also, it is heavily on Instagram and another social media platforms. There is a way to make a reservations so you don't have to wait in the long line however I didn't know about it so I ended up being a line warrior. Seating inside is very cramped. Seating outside is a little bit bit more spacious however, if you're like me from California, you might have to contend with the cigarette smoke being puffed on your food.
Came here because of multiple recommendations but it didn't live up to the hype. We were in line 20 minutes, which wasn't that bad. They offer drinks while you wait in line. Once seated, we presented the staff with allergies of someone in our group. They said they couldn't accommodate allergy restrictions and made that person sign a waiver. Food was average but ox tail was very good. I don't know if I'll be back to try other dishes but glad I made it. I liked it but it didn't live up to the hype. They have outside and inside dining which was great. They had good service.

I waited about 15 minutes to be seated since they don't take reservations, and it was absolutely worth it. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and if you're sitting outside on a sunny day, the staff is very attentive about adjusting the shades so you're comfortable. They will adjust even without you having to ask. I ordered the artichoke as an appetizer which was very good, I recommend getting this if they are in season. I also ordered the carbonara, and it was by far the best I had while in Rome perfectly creamy, rich, and full of flavor without being too heavy. You can really tell they focus on doing the classics right. What stood out beyond the food was how efficiently the staff operated. Despite how busy the restaurant gets, they move quickly and keep everything running smoothly, which made the whole experience even better. Overall, this is a must-visit spot if you're in Rome. Expect a wait, but it's 100% worth it for the quality of the food and service. read more

Da Enzo al 29 - Authentic Roman Dining Done Right While visiting Rome, we had dinner at Da Enzo al 29 in Trastevere, and it absolutely lived up to the reputation. This is the kind of place people talk about when they describe a true Roman trattoria experience. One thing I would strongly recommend: go early. We arrived around 6:00 PM and were among the first groups seated. By the time we left, the line outside was substantial. From what we observed, parties of two seemed to get seated much faster than larger groups. The atmosphere was exactly what we were hoping for in Rome -- cozy, energetic, authentic, and unpretentious. It felt like a neighborhood restaurant that just happens to have become world famous, rather than a tourist-focused restaurant pretending to be authentic. I ordered the carbonara, which was outstanding. Rich, creamy, peppery, and prepared the traditional Roman way without unnecessary extras. My friend had the pasta with oxtail (coda alla vaccinara), which was equally impressive and deeply flavorful. For dessert, we had the strawberries and cream, which was simple but incredibly fresh and a perfect ending after such rich pasta dishes. Service was efficient considering how busy they are, and the entire experience felt very "Rome" in the best possible way. There are plenty of restaurants in Trastevere, but Da Enzo al 29 stood out as one of the most memorable meals of our trip. If you want an authentic Roman meal, this place is absolutely worth the wait -- though getting there early definitely helps. read more

Must come when in Rome! This place had delicious pasta options! Don't forget they have a break in between lunch and dinner. We saw many people wanted to eat here but they were closed for a break. We waited in like for about 30 mins and it was so worth it! The line goes by fast. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. The fried artichoke (carciofo alla giudia) was delicious! It was nicely fried and it wasn't too oily. My favorite pasta was the Cacio E Pepe. The flavor was perfect with the pasta! Another delicious pasta was the Amatriciana which had really good pork cheeks. Service was quick and great! read more

The fried artichoke and pastas here were delicious. The fried artichoke was crispy and salty -- its leaves were fried like potato chips, so they were kind of like artichoke chips. I also had the rigatoni carbonara -- the pasta was al dente, the sauce was flowy, and the guanciale was thick and chunky -- so delicious! If you want to dine here, you have to get here at opening. The restaurant is small and it must have appeared on some viral tourist video because the line (with mainly tourists) gets ridiculously long. The food was very good, but there are many good fried artichokes and carbonara pastas in Rome that I would not wait that long to dine here...unless maybe you lure me with their fried artichoke and pastas *while* waiting in line. read more

This place was highly recommended when I visited Rome. It is located in the hip Trastevere district. There was a big line to even get a table at this restaurant. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The waitress was quick with our food as well. The Roman food here is very authentic. I ended up getting the Amatriciana. I really liked the rigatoni and fresh tomato sauce. I also found the Jewish-artichoke dish interesting. Apparently Jewish Roman food is popular in this part of Italy. It was fried and really crispy. We also had La Palla Al 29. It was basically a potato fried croquette. read more

The pasta was good, but nothing special. I had Amatriciana and my friend had the Carbonara. The pasta isn't made fresh in -house, so despite it being cooked properly and topped with good sauces it wasn't anything special. Service was friendly, but clipped. Fast turnover. Felt rushed. read more

Taste: 5/5 Value: 5/5 Presentation: 5/5 Loved the pasta shape! If you don't enjoy aldente I would pass on this place. Be prepared to stand in line, but you can order drinks while waiting in the line. Parties of 2 were seated quicker, so recommend going in a smaller group or break up your party. read more

By far the best meal of my trip - and that's really saying something because everything in Rome was lovely. I was seated outside, so got to enjoy the guitarist/singer - would def recommend an outdoor table if you've got the option. My carbonara was the best pasta I've ever had. The pasta itself and sauce and guanciale were all perfect. Wish I had time to come back and try more of their menu! read more

We had an incredible time at Da Enzo on our recent trip to Rome! We got super lucky that our accommodations were on the same street as this little gem. We got in line early (6pm) (beware the line gets LONG) and we were seated in ~30 mins. The offer to bring drinks to you while you wait which was a nice service! We ended up sitting next to two lovely couples and we all chatted and bonded throughout our meals. The food was extraordinary, probably my favorite meal on the trip! We ordered the Burrata to start and that was so so good! For our mains we got the Carbonara, eggplant Parmesan, and Amatriciana. Everything was amazing, but wow the eggplant parm was to die for! We rounded out our meal with a tiramisu and it was yummy! Overall, I had such a positive experience at Da Enzo, I would definitely go back so I can try the Cacio e Pepe!! read more

I was stayin in Rome for a night after getting off a cruise. I met up with some friends and we asked the guy at the front desk of our hotel for a restaurant recommendation. He pointed us in this direction and we knew we were there when we saw the line of people waiting to get into the restuarant. I loved it because it was a mix of tourists and locals. You had to wait in line outside while a table became available which was actually kind of nice because they have a waiter come by and take drink orders. We went with a glass of pinot noir and it was great. We waited about 15 mins and we were able to get a table inside. The inside is a little small but absolutely perfect, we made friends with the two tables that sat near us. Great place to make a friend. Once inside we looked at the menu and we went with a few things: Bread for the table, the squash filled with cheese, the meatballs, and two pasta dishes. My friend got the one with the meat and I got the one with the pepper. Every dish was better than the last. The squash came out first with the bread and then came the meatballs. I loved them the sauce was amazing with the bread. Lastly came the pasta dishes. Mine was soooo good but it was huge after eating the meatballs I was already full. Then at the end we felt like we had to get the Tiramisu because.. when it italy you just do. It was by far the best tiramisu I have had in my life! I need to go back to this spot. People called this place a tourist trap since you need to line up for quite a bit of time if you want a table. You'll also notice that everyone in line is a tourist. With that in mind I'd say the wait was worth it. The staff was more attentive than normal (probably cause tourists!) and they talk really fast! The specials change often so they may be worth trying. Food I'd say is an 8/10! Interesting flavors, quick service, and a great time. read more
Ah man, dining here is like dining at your Italian grandma's--if your nonna had a knack for making the best carbonara in all of Rome! The pasta is perfectly al dente, the sauce is creamy without being heavy, and the portion sizes? Let's just say my waistband may never recover. The staff treats you like family (the kind who won't let you leave without tiramisu), and the cozy, rustic vibe makes you want to stay all night.
