    The most amazing food!! We walked 20 minutes just to eat here and it was worth it! We didn't order anything fancy we just wanted good Roman style dishes. The owners are amazing! Could not recommend more!!

    We had a delightful dinner for our family's last full night in Rome. When we arrived as the restaurant opened at 7:30 (with a reservation), the place had a couple of other diners, but within minutes after we got there the place was full and other parties were being turned away. It's a small dining room with only a few tables; the kitchen is on another floors and the meals arrive (and the used dishes returned to the kitchen) by dumbwaiter (a process that the kids enjoyed watching), The host, who introduced himself as Richard, suggested that we begin with a collection of fried starters -- suppli both with red sauce and cacio e pepe; fried sage; and fried artichokes. These were interesting. My wife also ordered a starter of artichoke which was incredibly tended, much more so than the other artichokes we have had in Rome and Naples. The host had a number of other recommendations from the menu, several of which we followed. Service was very friendly and gracious throughout -- chatty even. It was very sweet. Then it was on to the pasta dishes. The grandchildren had gnocchi, ravioli stuffed with sage and butter, and manicotti with red sauce. I chose the pasta alla su e giu (with sausage, pecorino and red sauce, topped with a generous serving of arugula, while my wife chose the same ravioli that our granddaughter had chosen. Our daughter-in-law chose pasta alla gricia, with pecorino as well as slivers of bacon and fried artichoke, while Sam chose the pumpkin soup, which in addition to being delicious was a very large portion, almost more than he could handle My son and I also chose main dishes -- he the pasta alla gricia, and me the lamb cacciatora. I had assumed it would come with a red sauce, like the chicken cacciatora to which I am accustomed in the US, but instead it was a slightly sweet brownish gravy. The lamb was unbelievably tender (if a bit fatty and bony), and very delicious We would have stayed for dessert, but we were stuffed and we needed to get the children home to bed (they fly back to Zanzibar tomorrow evening). But the host would not allow us to leave without dessert -- we were gifted with a small bag of biscuits, which he said had been made with wine, flour, sugar and X. AND he offered a couple of biscuits to munch on the way out

    Recommended by Hotel Isa and close by this casual/intimate place was spectacular! Cacio e Pepe - the signature Roma dish was a perfect balance of cheese & pepper just lightly dressing the al dente pasta, so well made. Eggplant Parmigiano- Not the american version but a more traditional take which is probably how it suppose to be as it is tender slices of saute eggplant that melted in your mouth as it paired with a light but rich tomato & garlic sauce and topped with a dusting of mozarella. Oxtail Osso buco- wow! by far the best dish of the trip....braised fork tender falling off the bone rendered fat oxtail of goodness bathing in a home made tomato sauce pool of perfection! A must have. Richard our host who spoke 4 languages was super nice and made our lunch a great experience.

    Very homey cooking. We went back twice in two nights. The owner Richarto is very hospitable. The sea brim is my favorite at the restaurant. The tiramisu is to die for. Fried artichoke is too greasy

    This is my go to restaurant when in Roma, because it is not far from the area in which I visit, but also it is very delicious!! I remember visiting Su e Gui years ago and learned that the restaurant is a family owned restaurant. The staff is always very efficient, friendly, and always provide a great service. The main area is pretty tight to sit in (small dining area), but the downstairs area is a bit more spacious with about 4-5 extra tables. Upon opening you can expect the restaurant to already be pretty full so definitely have a back up plan. I have ordered many dishes here, but my go to is typically the seafood risotto because I am never disappointed. The ingredients are very fresh, the entree is hot (fresh out of the kitchen) and pleasantly presented.

    The food is alright, the spaghetti we had was undercooked and hard (we have tried good ones in Venice and Florence). This one just not there. Not sure why Google has all the good reviews. The Tomatoes sauces Oxtail is decent, but not impressed. Overall food is ok. Service is like a rollercoaster. The lady who took our order had no service at all. One of the guy offerred a homemay treat at the end of the meal, which is very nice of him, but the restaurant charges 15% service fee. Not Worth. Ambiance is like Hong Kong style cafe.

    Su e Giù literally means up and down in Italian. This cute little restaurant in a quiet Italian neighborhood near the Vatican has 3 levels, though my favorite is upstairs. If you get there early enough ask for the table upstairs that overlooks the main dining floor. Daniel, the owner, is warm and welcoming to all that visit. I have been going to this restaurant for years because Daniel is so friendly, and the food is great. His wife makes all the dishes and is equally as warm and friendly as her husband. The food can best be described as home cooking, delicious home cooking - the kind of meals grandma would make. The toasted bread with sun dried tomatoes is good but the real star is the sausage that is served with this appetizer. Honestly, it does not look like much when it arrives, but this sausage is soaked in wine for a minimum of 1 hour. It is absolutely delicious, cut into small pieces and eaten with the bread and sun-dried tomato. A true surprise! Their soups are hearty and homey and served piping hot for those of us that think that the hotter the soup the better it is. For my main meal I just wanted simple pasta, so Daniel brought me spaghetti with red sauce topped with fresh basil. It was just the right amount and perfect with some of their grated parmesan cheese. The house wine is not fancy, but it just seems to work well with every choice. I cannot help but give a 5-star rating.

    A great location that feels very authentic. The Carbonara was out of this world and the Cacio e Pepe was to die for.

They don't have a sign telling you to wait, no server telling you to wait. You wait out there, wondering if you're in the right place, but then people stand behind you and you're like - oh! I'm here. This is the place. There are possibly 4 tables inside. It's small. I read about them being rude- we did not have that problem. In fact, they made a mistake and we kindly let them know we ordered something else- they corrected it and were nice about it.

So happy we did as this place definitely delivers. There is seriously like 8 tables in the dining room so expect a wait in line but trust me, it's worth it. We waited outside for about 25 minutes. They do take your order while in line so the wait for food (once you do get a table) is abbreviated. Out of the world pastas and the pistachio tiramisu is seriously out of this world. Inexpensive table wine rounds out a great meal. This is the type of place I love to go to. It's quaint, zero pretense and delivers on its food. A great find!
