Think €8 for Carbonara Pasta and €15 for Truffles Pasta. So SO SO good! Their pasta is freshly made, and cooked to order. Seating is limited, for both indoor and outdoor, but you'll find something quickly as this spot is a grab and go - or eat and go spot. Service is friendly and super efficient. We've only been in Rome a few days and we've had some great pasta but this was by far the best we've had so far. I had the special which was the truffle pasta and my husband had the Cacio e Pepe. Both were phenomenal! The portion size is perfect and the price was very very reasonable. Service was quick and friendly. If you ever find yourself around the Vatican and want to experience some of the best pasta you'll have in your life, then Egg is a must-visit for you and your group. This shop is more of a countertop order from their limited menu but the menu is executed so well you'll be tempted to order multiple bowls. There are a few stools and table out front to enjoy your food hot. Both times I've been on separate visits within two years, has only shown me how consistent their food and quality is. You can pair your dishes with an aperol spritz or mini bottle of wine for less than five euros. The pasta was about nine to eleven euros and the portions were more than plenty. The chef and owner are super nice and very informative about their dishes. If you are a fan of spice you have to try their chef-recommended dish. They had one dish topped with pancetta and I just about wanted to lick my bowl clean. Everyone in the group was raving how delicious it was. We had spent hours at the Vatican Museum and were starving and stumbled upon this little place. The food was incredible. The pasta was so fresh and the flavors were so delicious. I have a friend going to Rome in a couple weeks and have told her she has to check out Egg!! Nothing fancy, just delicious homemade pasta! read more

I read the review on Yelp about this restaurant so I could have lunch after visiting Vatican Museum. We were there very late for lunch (3:00pm) so we didn't have much choice. Stopped by after visiting the Vatican. My husband and I both went for the Carbonara with Truffle. Definitely worth the splurge. Every bite was heaven! This is some of the best pasta we've ever had. Pricing was good too! Service was really nice. There aren't a lot of places to sit, but we were lucky enough to get a table. Since this location is down a side street, there wasn't a lot of traffic so it would be easy enough to eat standing if needed. Would visit again. read more

Wow this place is amazing. In a little alleyway close to the Vatican, with really cheap prices - most pastas start at 7.5 euros. Hint - add truffles to the carbonara and gricia. It's worth it. The pasta is SOOO fresh and the taste and texture is off the charts. The sauce goes well with it. It's like kind of pasta you can't get in the states. And that's really it. We were near the Vatican, and my son found this little place on Apple Maps. It's literally a little 'hole in the wall' with limited seating (most of the room dedicated to the kitchen area). But it was really highly rated (close to a 5!). The cashier (probably the owner) was super friendly, spoke English, and gave great recommendations. I had the Pasta Amatriciana (red sauce with small pork cheek chunks). My son asked for a recommendation, and the owner quickly obliged with the Carbonara but to add Truffle. He admitted that added $6.50 (to a $7.50 pasta dish). When my son asked if it was worth it, he quickly said, "It's amazing!". He was right! We had our delicious pastas and drinks for $26. read more

Visiting Italy and wanted to try authentic pasta. There was quite a line and this is a very small restaurant with a few counter seats inside and two tables outside. They make your pasta fresh upon ordering so it can take a little while to get your food. We wanted to try the Alfredo pasta but it was sold out. We ordered the Pasta Carbonara and it was delicious. After spending the morning and early afternoon at the Vatican, my hunger was at an all time high. After searching up restaurants near by, we came across E.G.G. The location is small with a few seats inside. The pasta was made fresh as you order. With each order, you have the option of choose short or long pasta. The staff was friendly and helpful. I'm not a pasta expert so I do not understand the difference between short and long pasta. The guy helped and suggested short pasta goes best when ordering carbonara. The carbonara was delicious. It was creamy and the bacon was cooked just right. The bite in the center of the noodles had a bit of a crunch which made it taste even better. The pasta tasted fresh. We had the sausage and muchroom in cream sauce with freshly made fettuccine pasta-this was one of two "off the menu dishes" -the owner informed us when we came in from the rain. Very good food and very affordable! Highly recommend stopping here after touring St. Peter's Basilica!

Fresh, simple, incredibly tasty. Tiny hideaway. You may not get a table but you can still have a seat at the bar outside or a stoop!

Their pasta is good but not as good. Considering the price why probably reviews were over rated.
