I went here with such high hopes!!! Service was okay, not overly friendly even though not busy. Ambiance was cute and seating was available. In the end average at best. I've had better pasta elsewhere. Wasn't bad, wasn't memorable. I left full, but not enthused about a pasta meal in Italy which in and of itself seems so wrong!! Had the lasagna and the pepe I'll pass next time I'm in town.

We stopped on here based on Yelp reviews and it's proximity to our rental apartment . The location is very near to the Vatican (across the bridge from it and the Castel Sant' Angelo). The pasta is made in front of you. You choose from four pastas at €5.50 or gnocchi or ravioli for €6.50. These prices in old city Rome and very-very affordable, especially when you consider the fresh made pasta. Then you get a choice of eight sauces that the chef makes in front of you. I went with the puttanesca sauce (olives, capers, tomatoes, etc). A large portion weighing 160 grams is what is served. €2 more for 260 grams. What's the downside? Paper plates. But there is a small inside dining area with no tip or up-charge. Fresh ground parmigiana is on the tables.

There was one young woman running the cash register and cooking / preparing the pasta, and she was very sweet. However, the pasta at Pasta Impériale was subpar (we had the lasagna, gnocchi with ragu, and tagliatelle with ragu). It was way too salty and did not taste as fresh as the other pasta nearby, but service was quick and convenient. Would only come here if you are in a time crunch and need a quick bite! Portions are very filling.

Very good. I got the Strazzopeni with the pesto sauce which I know I shouldn't because Pesto isn't Rome's specialty but I figured in Italy would be still better than the States. The pasta was vegan by itself but of course the pesto with added cheese doesn't keep it that way anymore. Service was really friendly and it took like 5-7 minutes so I ducked into the little leather shop across the street and when I popped my head up they had mine ready. The flavor was really good and the pasta cooked well with a generous sprinkle of cheese. Great for a quick pasta fix. We also ended up getting it once more when we were tired and just wanted to eat in our hotel room, the gnocchi with pesto was very good, the gnocchi pretty light, slightly chewy. My husband and tubey pasta with spicy sauce and that was something really special. It tasted something straight out of a restaurant for how perfectly it was cooked and I would highly recommend it.

Fresh pasta and bolognese sauce cooked to order! This stuff is legit!!

Pasta Imperiale is one of my favorite pasta restaurants in the entire world. It's an incredible dining bargain for a major city like Rome, and it's great for both budget travelers and foodies alike. The concept is simple, fresh and fast. The pasta is literally made right in front of your eyes in the glass walled kitchen in the back. Sometimes you'll get lucky enough to watch the cooks hand rolling and cutting the pasta dough. The place is very small so you can watch (and smell) as your pasta is boiled and prepared with a fresh sauce. This is gourmet, quality food and ridiculously rock-bottom cheap prices. Every dish costs only 5 Euros. There will be a daily handwritten menu with a list of pastas on one side and a list of sauces on the other. You pick your pasta and pick your sauce (based on what the kitchen is making fresh that day) and pay a few Euros for a large, satisfying portion. Sometimes the restaurant runs out of some types of pasta by the end of the day, so make sure you have a backup choice. You really can't go wrong with any of the tasty noodles. The sauces are all cooked to order too. This stuff is legit! There's only limited counter seating so consider yourself lucky if you happen to snag a seat at busy times.

It was the most economical budget lunch in Rome. €4 for everything, wish they brought back the Bolognese I guess the menu changes from time to time. Also wish they had a paper plate options vs only in takeaway bucket paper containers! Extra charge for extra cheese, fork or extra napkins?!?

Little cute little restaurant . You can dine in or take it to go. The price is very reasonable and the portions are great even if you get the normal portions. Door slides which I learn the hard way :)

Totally worth a trip here. Great quality food for a cheap price. They have seats inside but people literally eat and go. They have a lunch special set but the pasta is more than enough for me. I would highly recommend the ragu bolognese. Delicious meat sauce with just the perfect amount of red sauce. The pasta is hot and fresh and again delicious. Highly recommend if you're on the go or if you want to take out and go eat outside somewhere else with a view.

One of Rome's most notable cheap eats with a lot of love put into their dishes! A great hole in the wall to grab a quick bite for lunch. Highly recommend !

Pick your pasta, pick your sauce! Only 5€

Amazing handmade pasta! This is a no-frills quick place to get some deliciously fresh pasta. They have a list of pastas and a list of sauces -- pick one of each, and they will make it on the spot. All for only 5€ per plate. You can watch them making the pastas in the back while you eat, and it was so good that we ordered a third dish to go for us to share while we walked around. One of our favorite spots to get fresh pasta in Italy! They also have some piadines (flat bread with some meats/salads, kind of like a fresher pizza-sandwich hybrid) that looked great, but we didn't try them. This is the only place I had seen piadines in Italy.

It sadly didn't live up to the expectations or the images on Yelp. They just reheated pasta in a frying pan and gave us somewhat small portions compared to the size of the plates they were served on. We tried several different pastas and sauces, and found the gnocchi and ragu/meat sauce to be the best. This didn't stand out above the other takeaway pasta places we tried in Italy, and while it isn't particularly bad, I might suggest spending your limited time and money in Rome at another place. The kitchen and bathroom didn't look as clean as they could be, and slightly subtracted from the experience. It is only 5 Euro, so it's hard to beat in value and concept, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. You may enjoy another place more.

    Take away container of Gnocchi.

Great little gem located about a mile away from the Vatican . This place offers a decent portion of food that's pretty yummy for about 5 euros (doesn't get any better than that). The place is really small about three small tables and there isn't any AC but the heat isn't a problem especially when you have great food....and you're not charged a service tax for sitting down. This place gets a 5 star for the price but the food is a solid 4. The tortellini with bolognese sauce is amazing and you must try the ravioli. Unlike some places in Rome that like charging for to go items this place does not. The girl at the register is very friendly and speaks English as well :)

For the price this fresh pasta is amazing. 5.5 €- 7 € for regular portion or 7.5 € - 9 € for large portion of pasta. The 3 of us shared 3 regular pastas, salad 3€ a tiramisu 3€ and were very satisfied. Close to st angelo Castle and the Vatican. Menu is in English and Italian

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

I had possibly the most amazing chick food pasta a girl could imagine. Girls know what girl food is. The pasta in Italy is just better -obviously. But then put all sorts of girl flavors on it like Lemon and Orange, just lightly enough, zest with a small hint of cheese-..... omgosh. Yes, yes, and yes. Need my hubs to replicate at home. He is going to be busy trying to perfect this. Tagliatelle with orange and lemon parmesan. This was it. It was the best. Everything else we ordered was amazing as well. Wait outside. They don't have a sign telling you to wait, no server telling you to wait. You wait out there, wondering if you're in the right place, but then people stand behind you and you're like - oh! I'm here. This is the place. There are possibly 4 tables inside. It's small. I read about them being rude- we did not have that problem. In fact, they made a mistake and we kindly let them know we ordered something else- they corrected it and were nice about it.

So happy we did as this place definitely delivers. There is seriously like 8 tables in the dining room so expect a wait in line but trust me, it's worth it. We waited outside for about 25 minutes. They do take your order while in line so the wait for food (once you do get a table) is abbreviated. Out of the world pastas and the pistachio tiramisu is seriously out of this world. Inexpensive table wine rounds out a great meal. This is the type of place I love to go to. It's quaint, zero pretense and delivers on its food. A great find!
