We had an excellent dinner here our first night in Rome. It was near our rental and we were able to walk in without a reservation early on a Sunday evening. We started with a carafe of the house red which was an excellent light red that went nicely with all of our food. We had the prosciutto and melon and mixed vegetable plate as our antipasti. Both were delicious. I'm going to be ruined for prosciutto in the US...and the melon and vegetables were fresh and flavorful. We shared a margarita pizza was delicious. The fresh mozzarella and tomato sauce on a crisp Roman style crust were wonderful. Desserts were excellent too. I had a pistachio torte-type dessert which was really good. Service was great and everyone was patient with our limited Italian ability. Atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Definitely recommend if you're in the St. Peter's/Vatican area. read more

What an amazing dinner! This place was absolutely spectacular. We dined inside although they had outside dining. The restaurant is a bit small inside but it was fine and comfortable. The decor was nice. Let's get to the food. For my meal I had the Osso Bucco and a side order of spinach. My girlfriend had breaded fried zucchini flowers, stuffed with mozzarella and anchovies. She said it was absolutely delicious. My Osso Bucco was absolutely delicious, probably the best I ever had. It was so tender and flavorful. To end our meal I had the tartufo which was excellent and my girlfriend had the limoncillo cake which was also delicious. A great meal! read more

I would like to mention that first the service was incredible, people were so kind and attentive. Secondly, by far the best lasagna I have ever try in my whole life. It was delicious! Skip this lunch place near St Peters. Had the pasta with mushrooms. What arrived tasted like badly cooked spaghetti was some canned mushrooms on top of it. It was not very good. BF had a pizza, which was OK but barely average. We shared some house wine which again was OK but fairly average. On the plus side, the service was quick. Of all my meals in Italy, this place was my absolute favorite and you MUST GO. It's walking distance from the Vatican and we sat outside - the view is so cute! The food: was AMAZING. I believe we ordered the amatriciana pasta and funghi pizza. The pasta looks pretty basic at first glance but has this unexplainably amazing garlic-y and extremely unique and fragrant sauce. The funghi pizza was perfect as well - not too cheesy but just cheesy enough, had a really wonderfully aromatic sauce, and was thin enough to be delicious and not too bready while also not collapsing under the weight of the toppings. My friend and I shared the pizza and pasta, and portions are super generous. And affordable! On top of that, our waiter was hospitable and funny, and so kind - he even gave us complimentary limoncello shots at the end of our meal. Oh, and you must get the house wine!! I believe it was only 10 euro for a liter and we gladly helped ourselves to two of those. It was SO yummy - some of the best wine I've had. I recommend the white! There are a thousand great restaurants in Rome! Among them is a wonderful little restaurant just south of the Vatican called La Vitoria. It is the quintessential Italian restaurant 8 meters across (That's 25' for us philistine Americans) and about 20 meters deep, complete with a manager that walks around making sure everyone is engaged and yet invisible; handling any issues that may be happening without any fanfare or conflict. All the while, the wait staff attends to the needs of the clientele so that everyone feels welcome, important and walks away full, both socially and physically. So... what about the food, you ask? We'll, it's amazing! The menu is both reasonable in options and price. Just like nearly every restaurant in Rome, they have the big 4, Gricia, Cacio e Pepe, Carbonara, and Amatriciana, but here, they are all fantastic; actually using true Guanciale (pork cheek) instead of pork belly (bacon). If you don't think there's a difference... there is. Guanciale (Pillow) has a beautiful texture and isn't as salty, so you get the flavor of the meat along with the unctuousness of the fat without the overpowering salt that is often found in bacon. We also had a few appetizers; Suppli, Suppli Gricia and Sanpietrino Amatriciana, all of which were creamy and wonderful! Finally, it's actually affordable and a fantastic value! Please don't mistake my comment for being cheap. Averaging about 25 euros a person, the prices are fair and you don't walk away thinking you tolerated an average meal at a high price and think that's what's expected when you travel. That's not the case here! Here, you get the best of all worlds... great food, incredible service and at a price that will make your vacation memorable rather than a nightmare. read more

Our first night in Rome and our concierge recommended La Vittoria, which was only a block away. Everything was delicious and our servers were great. The carbonara was truly special. We started with a memorable carpaccio and third course was Roman Tripe. Our Chianti complimented the meal perfectly. The casual friendly atmosphere was just what we needed after a long flight. For a visitor interested in trying Italian food, I'd give it a 4. However, if you've been eating a lot of Italian food here, I'd give it a solid 3. The pizzas are very simple, very Italian. However, the ingredients don't quite compare to some of the other neighboring pizzerias. The pasta dishes are really good, I'd recommend that you try some of them--they're all cooked well with adelante consistency. If they're feeling generous, they may offer you some goodies on the house! Especially if you start visiting them frequently (like once a week...). But on a warm summer night, this is the place to bring a friend or two and enjoy the company of happy tourists and fellow locals. :) read more

My 100th review is while I'm in Rome!! And it just so happens to be for the best place we have eaten in Rome so far!! I was snatched up off the sidewalk by an adorable server and taken by the hand to my seat; all the while being called "my princess". I was searching for a place to eat and this place won. The service was great!! I was gotten a drink right away and my order was taken. I asked about the tortellini but was told that if I wanted just cheese inside that I should get the ravioli. So I did. SO glad I did!! I think it was ricotta and spinach inside with just enough creamy red sauce on top. It was served with bread. Not dry, but good bread! There were many choices for dessert but I opted not to get any. Other meals around me looked delicious too. I plan on going there again tomorrow for an early dinner. I will let you know if it's just as good! Try them out!! read more

This is one of the top restaurants based on Tripadvisor reviews, so my boyfriend and i went to this restaurant for a late lunch yesterday. He ordered the fettucini with meat sauce and i had the lasagna and then we shared a tiramisu for dessert. Let me just say, the tiramisu was my favorite out of the three. The fettucini was good; the meat sauce was good but overall it wasn't a wow to me. The lasagna...not for my taste I guess. The tomato sauce in between the layers was good and they did make it fresh (it was still sizzling when it was served to me). You could also tell that the sauce was home-made, which is always good! However, the tomato sauce on top of the lasagna was creamy. I am not a big fan of sauces that are creamy. However, if you don't mind creamy sauces, you might find it delicious! The main reason I am giving this restaurant a 3-star though is the service. The service was slower than my boyfriend and I would like. Also, our food was not served at the same time but we saw other customers had their food served at the same time. Maybe my lasagna just took longer to make? Not sure. Overall, I would say give it a try when you are in a Rome. This is one of the top restaurants on tripadvisor. read more
