The place is small and quaint, only 8 tables, so make a reservation. The menu is so custom that it is literally hand-written by the owners. Food was excellent. We had ravioli and ossobuco, with fresh mozzarella as an appetizer. The wine paired beautifully. Dessert wasn't my favorite, but I suspect that was more about what was served and not the quality. I still give it 5 stars and will come here every time I'm in Rome. read more

Small little out of the way restaurant that will blow your mind. Seats about 25 people. The boss lady has been running this place for over 35 years. Her best friend retired and comes to help out on a regular basis. We were told they didn't have gnocchi on the menu because "She was off work the day before" ha ha that's how fresh everything is. Owners makes all the pasta in house. From start to end every dish was a winner. I tried to get them to open for breakfast the next day but the owners just laughed at me. I was serious! There's a reason it's #1 on Yelp! We actually stumbled upon this restaurant and it was the best mistake ever made. Had 9:00 reservations at a restaurant called something Ripetta. Saw the sign on the outside and thought this was it and we walked in. There was no reservation but they were nice enough to seat us. I did learn the name of the street was Ripetta, hence the confusion. What an incredible meal! The moment we walked inside from start to finish, it was fabulous. The two women ( I think they are the owners) were so welcoming and helpful. They add so much character to this charming place. The food was excellent and the presentation beautiful. The ambiance was very small and cozy. It felt like a true authentic Italian restaurant. The service wasn't great. As we were waiting for the waitress to take our order, she was drying glasses the entire time. After we received our food, she never checked to see if we needed anything or enjoyed our meal. She was not attentive, especially with only two parties in the restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing. The best meal we had in Rome. The menu doesn't have English translations, but it's easy to use Google Translate. They don't really speak or understand much English, but they try their best. The service was amazing, and the host was so sweet. I absolutely loved the Risotto con Gamberi. Definitely the best risotto I've ever had in my life. The Ravioli Ricotta e Spinaci was delicious as well. If this place wasn't lovely enough already, there's a dog at the restaurant who keeps everyone company during their meal. I wish I knew about this place sooner, I would have had dinner every night here. read more

Previous reviews led me here. They were correct small restaurant and I got there before 7:30 when they opened. Nice service one lady didn't speak much English but was nice and helpful. Food was great. I had an excellent black angus carpaccio with arugula and Parmesan. Served with lemon and oil it was delicious and savory. The spinach and ricotta ravioli was excellent and went well with fresh basil on top and house wines. For desert I had a chocolate deleche flan with fresh mint on top. Excellent. read more

If you are reading this please know this is one of the best homemade pasta in Rome! This place is were the locals go to eat as a local recommended this place to us so we kept spreading the word to others. It is a little of walk outside the main tourist spots but it is worth it. The food tasted like they made everything that afternoon and placed it in front of us as it was so fresh! The service was prompt and friendly with true locals chatting and laughing in the background. In a word, incredible. We didn't use the menu, just asked for the owner's favorites. She started us with the best gnocchi I've ever had with a fresh tomato sauce, super smooth with excellent flavor. She followed it up with a perfect medium rare taglieta with balsamic vinegar sauce and arugula, and ended up with a wonderful caprese. Just plain delicious food. Traditional Italian restaurant where the locals come and the owners know the regular guests. Let the waiter choose the wine and go for a nice calamari risotto or one of the meals with meat. Everything looked and smelled delicious. A small, intimate restaurant with an owner that takes a personal interest in every dish and every customer. We went there for lunch with a group of about 15 on a NY Metropolitan Museum art tour of Rome. The owner brought out one appetizer after another, each one delicious, by the time we reached the end of the appetizers, it was hard to even imagine eating the main courses. But we persevered! We stopped into Taverna di Ripetta for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. This is exactly the kind of place we love in Rome...a tiny, family owned restaurant that makes you feel as though you are having a meal inside someone's private home. The chef came out and explained that because it was lunchtime, their entire menu was not available. He suggested certain dishes based upon our preferences, and all of his suggestions were great....our meals were fabulous. The house wine was great. Our hostess/owner, Fatima and a friend of the family who was visiting the restaurant made us feel welcome. This restaurant deserves all the other rave reviews. We easily got a table for 30 minutes after we called at 8. By 9 the small place was 3/4 full. The owner was friendly and unhurried even tho she handled all the tables by herself. She brought a platter of fish so we could select one ourselves and offered a seafood pasta dish not on the menu. Both were superbly delicious. The fig mousse dessert was incredible. Prices were most reasonable. Artistic decor including a fine watercolor by the owner. After reading reviews decided to have dinner here. Had the antipasto for 2 which had falafel, hummus, red cabbage, eggplant, couscous and a fried cheese. Everything was excellent. We then had the gnocchi with seafood which was also delicious. We also had a flounder en croute which was tasty but salty. We had a fantastic pear torte for dessert.
