Had the mixed seafood app, spaghetti with clams, pasta gracio, the ox tail and spinach and fries. Food was hit or miss. We liked the mixed seafood. It was on the daily special. The pasta was ok but both dishes lacked flavor. The ox tail also lacked flavor. Service was slow. Waiter forgot our order and after seeing all the tables around us get served we asked about ours. Not too many places on Yelp with ratings, but glad that Piccolo Arancio does...We were walking from the Colosseum and decided to have some really good food, in a small restaurant. If you want a work out, this place was up and down hills but well worth the walk. First of all, the servers were excellent and helpful with every question we had about the menu. We opted to have the mussels, baby lamb, cooked for 10 hours and the salmon gnocchi. The mussels were large and plentiful. It's been the third night in a row we've had some sort of mussel dish and this was second to none. The sous vide, 10 hour, baby lamb was tender and fall of the bone. The salmon gnocchi was over the top with everything else we ate and couldn't eat the whole dish...because we had to save some room for dessert. We enjoyed a delicious meal here in our last night in Rome a month ago. This restaurant is in a popular area, but it's down a little side street so we were able to sit outside without tons of people crowding past on the street. The service was kind and attentive. We started our meal with the appetizer of 1 fried zucchini blossom and 1 fried artichoke. The artichoke was very crispy, but the zucchini blossom was kind of limp and wet inside, not as crispy as I hoped. Both of them also needed seasoning. For my entree I had the chef-made gnocchi with tomato and basil. The sauce was delicious, but the gnocchi were a bit chewy and dense. My husband enjoyed the mixed seafood pasta and he said it was delicious! The winner of this meal for us was the homemade chocolate lava cake for dessert, it was incredibly delicious. Our server, Francesco, was attentive and friendly. Here you pay for the basket of bread and bread sticks and it is worth it! The bread was freshly baked, crusty and delicious. I started off with a Carciofo all a Giudia (fried artichoke). My husband enjoyed the Burrata special appetizer (burrata cheese with cherry tomatoes and arugula). I chose their signature dish, the Ravioli all'arancia, which was homemade ravioli filled with ricotta cheese and topped with an orange cream sauce. It was beyond different and bursting with flavor. Racist but 10% service fee is included automatically. We are from US, so we know what tipping means. All the tables around us were asked at least once if they needed anything. They did not ask us once and we had to request for a check fourth time to be able to pay. This was one of our top 3 meals in Italy! The artichokes were incredible. We ordered both, and preferred the Jewish style more. The carbonara was the best we had in two weeks of touring Rome. Way above average food in Rome in a nice, secluded space. A coworker and I came here for a quick dinner before he had to go back to the hotel and deal with the fact that his toddler wasn't sleeping. I got the smoked salmon gnocchi and swordfish along with a glass of Montepulciano. The Montepulciano was fine, but not inspired and probably a bit below average for wine you'd get in a restaurant in Rome. The smoked salmon gnocchi was really fantastic though. It was actually Smokey and rich the way you'd hope and the texture and fluffiness of the gnocchi was a perfect match to the rich, creamy, meaty smoky sauce. I don't remember tasting tomatoes this good ever. There's a reason we call them Roma tomatoes. - truffle pasta - how can this be made so simply but so delicious? It does not taste like the disgusting truffle oil they douse everything in, in mediocre American restos. Real truffles taste more restrained and refined to me. And there was a good amount of it. This was our stop for our last dinner in Rome and me and my mom left feeling so great about our decision to dine here. The service was wonderful -- at this point we had spent days in Rome getting heckled and given aggressive service as tourists in the other establishments but this location was warm, inviting, and so friendly. While we opted to dine a little earlier in the evening compared to most Europeans, there was already a line when we had arrived around 6-7pm. We ordered their signature seafood linguini which had tons of super fresh seafood ranging from shrimp, prawns, mussels, calamari, and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente tossed in a delicious red sauce. 4.7 stars! Very convenient location to our airbnb with a great variety of food. Prices are very fair and portions are great. Quality of food was also fantastic! We came here in our first night and fortunately stumbled on this restaurant. I am very happy we ate here because as i learned later in our trip that some restaurants are over priced and underwhelming. We decided to go all out and order a salad, 2 secondi, primi, and antipasta as suggested by our guidebook! The salad was good nothing too special. The steak was seasoned perfectly and was cooked properly (i had steak at couple other restaurants which have either under or overcooked, i think italians like their meats more on the rare side so in the future i would ask for the one level higher for the cook). The seafood pasta was very delicious, the clams, lobster, shrimp blended well and did not have the pugent smell/taste of seafood. Overall i would highly recommend this restaurant for a fancy but affordable night out with your special one or with friends! read more

We were a group of 5 & we all had different dishes. We were all satisfied with what we ordered. We love sweet wine & they recommended the sparkling moscato it was 10 out of 10. After a couple disappointing meals, Piccolo Arancio was a breath of fresh air. A friend recommended that I tried this place because of their truffle pasta, which I ordered. First of all, this gem of a place is hidden on a little side street. On the main street, there are signs to direct you in the right direction. The restaurant is very small and intimate, about 10ish tables. we went right when dinnertime started and we were able to be seated immediately. We also got some complimentary champagne to start. I got the truffle pasta, which started this whole journey, and oh my goodness it was heavenly. I thought the flavor was well balanced, properly seasoned, and probably one of the best meals I had. I and my group were craving another Florentine steak which we also ordered. I think the Florentine steak here was a little overdone and could have done a little more with the flavor. There's two sides of the restaurant, both are very small but most places in Rome is quite small. The staff spoke English well and was friendly. There was a group of us outside just standing around, not knowing who to talk to or where to put our name down. Prices were average for a tourist area. The spaghetti with clams had fresh clams and no broke shell pieces which is nice. The pasta all around Rome is cooked al dente, a bit harder to bite then what we're used to in the US. Piccolo Arancio is hidden down an alleyway near the Trevi Fountain, so unless you're really wandering or you already know about it, you're not likely to come across it. Despite this, it was packed! We were seated at the only open table when we arrived around 10pm, but you can make a reservation as well. The menu is extensive and its posted outside so that you have plenty of time to make your selection. Our server was friendly and personable. The Fried Squash Blossoms stuffed with mozzarella cheese as our starter were passable. The fried coating didn't have much flavor and I was hoping it would have more cheese inside. I went with the Fettuccine al Salmone as my main dish. The noodles were quite fresh and the salmon cream sauce with bits of cooked salmon was delectable and not heavy at all. We found this restaurant on a best by neighborhood list. It was perfect tucked away from the crazy streets near Trevi Fountain. We were lucky to get a seat outside for our family of four.
