Amazing hole in the wall spot, we were recommended this place by a local and we were so happy we came to check it out! The pasta was some of the best that we tried during our time in Rome. There was a bit of a language barrier but they were so nice to take in our large group of 10 which we know in Rome is not an easy task. I highly recommend their Gnocchi with Salmon Cream Sauce. They were pillowy, rich, and yet surprisingly light. Their pasta with mixed seafood - which was light and fresh with the seafood cooked beautifully. I also got the Lamb Ragu pasta - all I can say was it was comforting and delicious! But, please make sure to leave room for dessert. They had some of the best panna cotta that I have found during my short time in Rome. The creme brullee was also incredible rich and creamy, this was cleared by my family in a few bites. The tiramisu was very rich and had a strong espresso flavor as well. Make sure to order a few desserts as these go by pretty quickly. read more

We found this quiet restaurant off the beaten path close to the Trevi Fountain. Everything was superb. The staff was very catering to westerners and spoke very good english. Every single dish was cooked perfectly and came out fresh and hot. Fresh ingredients were used in salads, buffalo mozzarella cheese was out of this world. Hi made noodles for the lasagna, fresh seafood (salmon, swordfish, cuttlefish, prawns). The desserts tiramisu and pana was a hit with my family. We will stop by once more before we leave Rome!!!!!! We went to this restaurant our last night in Rome. The food and wine are tremendous. The best way for us to try many things was to share an appetizer, pasta and main course. Service was attentive for a very busy restaurant. If you are looking for a quiet, romantic restaurant this isn't the place at the restaurant is truly bustling with every seat full and tightly packed in. While off the beaten path near the Trevi Fountain, people know about this restaurant. You definitely want to call for a reservation as there was a line from 7-9:30pm. read more

Nice little gem tucked away from the busy main avenues. We started off with an excellent bread basket that had crusty local bread and grissini. They also provided olive oil, salt and pepper. The beer list is short but they did have Ichnusa, a very good Sardinian beer. I went with the pasta alla 'Gricia', or Greek style, which was basically cacio e pepe with pancetta, making it a cross between the traditional Roman dish and a carbonara. The pasta was homemade, al dente and perfectly dressed, being the perfect size for lunch. The restaurant is cozy and quaint with a friendly staff that speaks English. Prices are very good for the quality and I'd certainly visit again next time I'm in Rome. read more

This restaurant is practically a hole in the wall. I just wanted to eat my ox tail stew and this place came up on my yelp. It's near the Barberini stop on Metro A. The server was pretty new but really helpful. If he doesn't have information on the dish, he'd find someone who has so the customer can make an informed decision. I had the oxtail stew and my mom the grilled salmon. We also ordered the risotto which is by far the best I've ever tasted in this city. The risotto was evenly cooked. They added some root crop which complemented the dish. The grilled salmon was tender on the inside but not undercooked. It was my first time tasting the ox stew and I'm not sure if this one is the best but it is definitely worth the trek. For dessert, we had the Catalan cream which is similar to the creme brûlée. The sugar was a bit burnt but it's still good. I'm coming back when in Rome. read more

The queue as we left the restaurant says it all. The food in here is delicious, service funny, warm and fast and the atmosphere is great as well. The dishes were traditional, but just exceptionally well made - this was the best food we had all week although we ordered almost the same items as some other days It is airconditioned (which is important in the middle of july) both inside and outside. We sat in a small room with open doors towards the street, which meant we had our own space 8 people together. They tolerated our (very tired) kids so well - but I would say it is definitely more of a grown-up kind of restaurant :) All in all a great experience and we will for sure be back. read more

Cut to present day and we were back in Rome with our teen boys and my wife was determined to see if she could remember the restaurant that had an orange in the name. Made reservation the day before and we were able to get seated right away ( recommended it to avoid waiting). Nice cozy interior dinning. We ordered Mozarella and cherry tomatoes and Sauté mussels for appetizer and both were perect. Fresh ingredients and season right. For primi we ordered rigatoni carbonara, rigatoni with bacon and tomato sauce, tagliolini with black truffle. Pasta itself was cooked perfect and the truffles - well they are tryfgles and the aroma with Tagliolini/ olive oil was pretty much in the spot. I thought the cabornara sauce was a bit too rich / cheese heavy for my taste - but that might be my faulr for ordering something that is too heavy for my palate. The mixed seafood spaghetti another table ordered looked downright delicious. Maybe this would have been a 5 star review ig that's what I ordered. For secondi we shared abbaci Al forno ( roasted baby lamb) - meat was flavorful and fall off bone soft but it was a bit over salted and dry in my opinion. Still very tasty but could improve there. A small venue tucked away near the Fontana di Trevi, we got seated right away for lunch but was definitely a bit cramped. We were recommended by friends to try the truffle egg noodle pasta, as well as some of their other signature dishes. The truffle sauce was different than most of the things we had tried in Rome, but a good kind of different as the flavor profiles complemented each other well. We also ordered a few appetizers and one of their signature carbonara dishes which was also very good. The serving portions come smaller, so order multiple things if you're on an empty stomach. Came here after the line to wait at a nearby popular restaurant was too long and so happy we did! The menu has a good selection, we went pretty basic this night with spaghetti and rigatoni with bacon & pomodoro but they were delicious. The other dishes around us looked great and the prices were also good! I stumbled on to this little Hostaria (place with short menu but serving local specialities) while doing my research for a trip last March (2018). I was so impressed, I brought my family back this year. You can make reservations via THE FORK app. I would highly recommend reservations. It is tucked away in a small alley, steps away from the Trevi. Service is laid back, warm, and friendly. They start you off with a flute of prosecco, warm bread basket, and olive oil. Their red house wine is great (and cheap). Try the Carciofi alla romana and Octopus in tomato and caper sauce. Their Tiramisu is unlike any. Dont expect quick service. Savor the atmosphere. Wow! I've had a lot of good food while here in Italy, but Piccolo Arancio has been tops thus far. Our group of 10 came a few minutes late to our reservation and were seated quickly. We tried too many firsts to list, but none disappointed. We weren't as creative when it came to seconds, as several of us duplicated orders. I was very satisfied with the swordfish with tomatoes and capers. Our host and waiter were extremely engaged - answering our never ending questions and translating were necessary. They recommended wine and drink (and didn't just opt for the most expensive). They checked in. They checked in again. Very friendly. I'll be generous and give 2 stars (instead of 1). I'm honestly stunned by the number of positive reviews, which we regret we relied on when we decided to dine here on our last night in Rome. Maybe we came on an off-night, but our experience was average at best -- in terms of food quality, service and ambience. What other reviewers don't share is that this place is a tourist trap -- both the zucchini blossoms appetizer and seafood appetizer tasted like Arthur Treacher's Frozen Fish Sticks (drenched in the same batter and deep fried in old oil), and the pasta courses lacked flavor and was "giving" the Olive Garden. If you do come here, I would NOT recommend the octopus salad -- it was a clammy conglomeration of jarred seafood that tasted like it had been sitting in the back of the refrigerator and spread out on a bed of wilting lettuce. With so many other more interesting, delicious, and more authentic food experiences nearby (e.g. Trattoria Angelino) I would not recommend this restaurant, which was BTW also over-priced for what it is. read more
