Our first meal in Rome was here, and I'm so glad it was here. We arrived on Christmas Eve and wanted a good meal. Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine. read more

Great first meal in Rome! I loved my artichoke pasta dish with bacon, it was a daily special. The amaretto dessert was delicious! Carbonara was super al dente. Seafood risotto was fresh. A very cute place with lots of Italian speaking people dining inside. My mom, sister and I had lunch there and everything tasted great. Pricing was reasonable and it seemed like way less of a tourist trap. Plus, our waiter was great. Not sure what his name was, but he was 10/10! read more

We ate here on our last day in Rome. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The waiter was friendly and even jokingly sat as though he was taking a break while taking our order. We sat on the patio and there were umbrellas for shade. The food was very good- not the best we had in Rome, but very good and I would recommend. read more

This restaurant was very close to my hotel so I made a reservation through their website. Very easy to do; there's an option for English. Considering how crowded it got on a Sunday night, I suggest making a reservation if you decide to go The staff is very friendly. Like almost every restaurant I tried, most of the staff speak English well enough to make things easy if that's your only language The prosciutto appetizer was a little disappointing. I've definitely had better prosciutto even back home. I should note that this plate did not say prosciutto di Parma, however. A different one did. The risotto was excellent. The mussels, clams and shrimp were abundant, fresh and tasty. A separate saucer is provided for shells. Nice The salad came w bottles of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Fresh salad. Nothing more. Visited based on the rating and seemingly decent setup from the street. Unfortunately was our worst meal in Rome with the second largest bill. Took well over 30 minutes (yes used clock) after asking for the bill to get it, and that was after finally seeking out another person who worked there. Sauces were the blandest seen and drinks were mixed strong, not well. A massive leaf of parsley was thrown atop some prosciutto as a decoration alongside a shaving of a carrot. Not sure what its purpose could be but veiled color. Clearly their audience is the passing tourist who wants a semi-authentic experience vice a real restaurant locals would be willing to visit. I would move on and find better locations. Certainly not deserving of the 4.5 stars on yelp. read more

Highly recommend. I was looking for a more traditional place where the music wasn't blasting and fellow customers weren't breathing 6 inches from my food. We made reservations and when we arrived we were promptly seated. I requested seating outside and was disappointed none was available so they sat us inside, just before ordering a bottle of wine they quickly removed everything from our table and to my delight seating outside became available. I had the Carbonara, my wife had the veal saltimbocca. Food was great service was just as good, food would get 4 stars but the waiters put it to 5 stars for me. read more

This was an amazing dinner with my husband while in Rome. We had a great time with the staff and they' were willing to share some laughs and great food. I tried the mussels, which were prepared a little different from what I thought it would be. I am not usually a licorice or fennel fan, but the dish had it in the broth. After about three bites, I came to really enjoy the nuance of the fennel with the tender mussels and broth and assez an excellent accompaniment to the house white wine. The bread basket is ok, but becomes awesome to soak up the rest of the garlic oil in the amazing artichokes. Husband ordered the veal saltimbocca that he really enjoyed. I also ordered a healthy sea bass, but beware you will have to eat it slowly to make sure to remove the bones. The homemade cheese raviolis were cooked Al denté, simple but tasty. Great place if you are on a keto kick but still want to enjoy an Italian meal, and also good for those who enjoy carbs. The server was so kind and offered a complimentary limoncello as a digestive to the meal. Very busy restaurant, make sure to make a reservation. Food is really delicious and fresh. What a fun and happy environment this restaurant has! The waiters seem happy to be there and are cracking jokes throughout the meal, it's an extremely comfortable place to be. We made a reservation and were greeted by name at the door, which added such a nice touch. I ordered the seafood pasta and my husband got the carbonara. We both absolutely LOVED the food. My seafood (clams, mussels, shrimp, etc.) was cooked perfectly, the pasta was all homemade and wonderful, and the garlicky buttery sauce was divine. I was only sad it was such a big portion I couldn't finish all of it. We got tiramisu for dessert which was also delicious. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Rome. Food was absolutely delicious! Customer service was even better. I don't know the name of the guy who served us, but his personality made our night. He was singing and dancing all around the restaurant. The food was probably the 2nd best we've had in all of Rome so far. What a perfect way to begin our Italian adventure! I had made reservations for our first night as I knew we would be getting in late and it was very close to our hotel. We couldn't have been more pleased. We were one of 2 tables who were not speaking Italian, which I took as a good sign. We started with a fantastic bottle of wine, the prosciutto di parma, insalata mista and my husband ordered the tomatoes (just fresh tomatoes and a little basil). All were amazing, especially the tomatoes! They truly are unlike any tomatoes I have eaten in the U.S. Even home grown. (After that, we ordered vegetables at every meal throughout our trip.) After the starters, I had the Carbonara and my husband had the Cacio e Pepe. Both were very good but the carbonara was the best we ate during our trip. We finished with tiramisu and espresso, which was divine. I can't recommend this place enough and we will definitely be back!! read more

My wife and I were so happy to have eaten here. When trying a new restaurant, choosing what to order is always a roll of the dice. So we ordered some of the more basic dishes and were blown away. The fettuccine pomodoro was fantastic, plated nicely, and came out quick. My wife's caccio e pepe was delicious and also plated with creativity. Limited cocktail menu but the wine is top notch. Tiramisu was to die for. Overall, prices were lower than I would have expected. The patio, although small, has a great atmosphere and is well worth the wait. Yes, they charge for the water and bread they set on the table, but this is not uncommon. Those from the states should expect this when traveling to Europe. Just say, "no thank you" and send it back with them if you don't want it. Easy. Don't give them a hard time just because it's not what you're used to. Servers were snappy and funny, willing to answer any question in both Italian and English. The two servers we interacted with were obviously working very hard to cover a full house, but were still joking around with each other, singing, whistling, having a great time and setting the atmosphere very well. While we only ordered "basic" dishes, these were so delicious (above and beyond) I have full confidence in their ability to deliver. Le Tavernedelle is worth going out of your way for. This place has an old world charm, the place was cheery, a little larger than most of the Restaurants in the area. Make a reservation, this was one of the many popular areas in Rome.
