Maybe you're visiting Roma and trying to figure out how to sift through the thousands of restaurants and reviews like me! Well rest assured this is worth visiting. I spent hours searching and decided to heck with it I'm visiting Osteria del Cavaliere. Molto bene! I loved it. Every part of the service and food was perfect. Please drop in and order a few dishes. I'm too full and happy to continue this review. Go and have a good time.
A gem in the outskirts of the city. On this visit to Rome we wanted quality food - and as a result, we looked at YELP for some help - go figure!! Good reviews pointed us here, but did not do it justice... The location has difficulty finding parking, so be ready to walk. The pace is very small at about 15 x 25 foot area - hence not many tables. We called and got there late - they had 1 table for us in the corner. The ladies that run the place were amazingly sweet and so welcoming. The menu was small, but we order the specials. And they are highly recommended. The chefs can get creative and it works out very well. We had the pork shank and the pesto gnocchi with dry tomatoes. The pork fell off the bone and was like butter. The gnocchi was very well made with the pesto just lightly seasoned and the tomatoes balancing the flavors extremely well. For desert we had the Amereto Moose - well balanced in flavor with the right amount of liquor. Lastly, the house wine is best you will have. We did the white wine as it paired well. It will feel like water and before you know it, you will be tipsy. This is a Mom and Pop place. And not frequented by too many tourists. Highly recommended!!
Very nice meal in Rome. The service was very good. We started with a house wine and beer. We shared a fettuccine for the primi and had the meatballs and ribs. Both were very good. A bit salty. The dessert was a tiramisu with chocalate and caramel and nuts. That was delicious.
What a fantastic meal and service. We wanted to get out of Rome proper, venture into the neighborhoods and local flavor. We were not dissapointed, the steak was phenomenal, the sides were excellent, the very best Risotto I have ever had bar nun. Desert was amazing . Best dinner by leaps while in Rome. Highly recommended
My wife seemed like she might kill me as we stood out front waiting for the osteria to open. The street was dark, the graffiti was prevalent, and I could tell she was quietly questioning my choice at a deep level. Once we were finally inside and the relaxing music and romantic atmosphere started to sink in, I could tell that I would not die by her hand tonight. By the end of our fabulous dinner, my wife beckoned Serena for a selfie. It was our best meal in Rome and at a very reasonable price
Great dinner here last night with a large group including two small kids. I'm not gonna lie, we're a handful with screaming kids and some with dietary restrictions but everyone enjoyed this place. We started out with the meat and cheese plate and some bruschetta. Both were very good but the tomatos on the bruschetta made it the stand out. Their signature dish, which is rectangular pasta with a sausage ragu was absolutely amazing! My daughter had the spinach and cheese ravioli which she inhaled. Other favorites were the steak and mushrooms (that portion is HUGE) so beware and the tonnarelli with pecorino and black pepper. Everyone enjoyed the meal immensely!
Omg. In my European trip alone, I have gone to Florence, Millan, Venice & Rome and I have to say this is the BEST food I have ate in ALL of Italy. The food is delicious. My family and I ate there and decided to order 3 different types of pasta (When in Rome, am I right?) & all 3 had so much flavor, came out piping hot, were homemade and most importantly, all the pasta was made from SCRATCH. And you could taste exactly that. I'm unsure of the names of dishes we had but I'll try my best to describe them. The pasta I ordered (which was the BEST in my opinion, but the other 2 were AMAZING as well) was the Potato Gnocchi with smoked salmon. I recommend this dish to anyone that goes. The presentation was also A+ as well. I'll post a picture of one of the other pastas we ate and the other one, well I have no clue what it was named but according to the waitress, it is their most popular pasta dish and it also is the first one on the menu. At the end, we were stuffed but decided on getting a dessert. HOLY SMOKES. This thing was HEAVENLY. I'm unsure what it was called again, but the waitress described at as their spin on cheesecake with biscotti and warm caramel. It's not in the form of the American cheesecake we eat back home. It's served in a cup, parfait style. UGHHHHHHH AMAZING. You HAVE to try this if they have it, TRUST ME on this. Next time I come to Italy, I plan to come back and have dinner here once again!
This place is absolutely fantastic! I had 2 of the best meals I've ever had in my life while dining at Osteria del Cavaliere. I found this place because the friend I was visiting happens to live in the apartment building attached to the restaurant (lucky her!). It doesn't look like much from the outside, and is closed up until 7:30 each night. But once inside, it's very cute and not very large. They fill up every night, so you will have to make a reservation to ensure you are able to dine. They turn away walk ins! Everything we had was amazing! The owner floats around the room, while his daughters are the servers and his wife is the chef. Most everything is handmade and cooked to perfection. The sliced filets we shared (one night with mushrooms, the next night with green peppercorns) were the perfect temperature, tender and juicy. Both pastas we enjoyed were delicious as well, and the plate of vegetables we had with our steak was huge! This place is not in the city center, so it's more of a locals restaurant. More reason to find it! Trust me, you will not regret it!

A lovely neighborhood restaurant serving traditional Italian food, we absolutely loved the dishes we tried. The servers were charming, helpful and obviously loved their work. Ambiance was cozy, historic, lovely. read more

Everything we ordered was delicious! Our server was so friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu it made deciding items very easy. It was our last night in Rome and we were very satisfied with our meal. *I would like to point out some menu items shown on yelp are seasonal, like the steaks, so keep that in mind if that's something you wanted to try there. read more

This was a recommendation from a friend and this place did not disappoint! It is super cozy and cute! The waitress was sweet and helpful! The food is amazing!! The pasta is to die for! I would recommend this place to anyone who comes! The price is was great for 2 people, 1 appetizer, 2 pasta dishes, 2 meat dishes, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine - about $105 US! read more

Oh my God! Soooo good! I went on Yelp while in Rome to find a good restaurant for my family. This one had 62 reviews and was still 5 stars! That, in and of itself, is incredible. We had to try it. We got there at 6:45 to ensure we were the first in line to get a seat since we didn't have reservations. Italians eat dinner around 9 so we were able to get a table at 7 when the restaurant opened, but we had to be finished by 9. Two hours? No problem. We ordered a number of appetizers, all delicious. From the bread with different sauces to the melted cheese with mushrooms (my favorite), the food was so good. My son, who's a VERY picky eater, ate liver pate and didn't complain, which for him is the equivalent of shedding a single tear from the level of deliciousness. It must be good. My favorite entree was the spaghetti with truffle oil and bacon (I think I did shed a single tear), but my wife's potato gnocchi was very, very good. The children had steak, steak with mushrooms, and I also had steak in red wine sauce. The steaks were perfect. The flavor on point. We were too full for dessert, but I suspect they're delicious as well. I can't say enough or recommend this restaurant enough to be captured in words. We ate at a number of restaurants in both Rome and Paris this trip, and by far this was the best meal we had. read more

So I will start by recommending a reservation. We went there without one and had to wait outside for 30 minutes since it was full. It is pretty small so there is no place to wait inside. When we were seated we ordered the sampler appetizer with salamis and cheeses with a bottle of chardonnay. The sampler is more for like 3 to 4 people. They even brought a chilled bucket for the bottle of wine which was great. We ordered then the grigglia mista (a plate full of different grilled meats) and a pasta dish. It was amazing. Definetly one of the best if not the best dinner we had in Italy. The servers were amazingly nice and very attentive. We had a little struggle with the wifi password and she sat down with us until we got it. Then she sold us on the baileys tiramisu which you MUST try. 5 stars all around. read more

This place was highly recommended by my AirBnB host so I walked 10 mins around 650pm. The waitress was kind enough to let me in before the restaurant opens. I ordered steak with green pepper, house red wine and cheesecake. All of them amazing! Last but not least, priced are super reasonable here. 17 euro for steak, 3 euro for a glass of red wine and 5 euro for dessert. Cannot complain! read more

So delicious. We got there when it opened so we were able to be seated but many tables were already reserved. It is a very small place. The waitress was so nice and made it very easy for us even though we did not speak Italian. The gnocchi was so light. The meatball appetizer (which was a special) needs to be on the menu every day! Very good and also inexpensive. read more

We were only in Rome for 6 nights and we decided to eat here twice. The food is amazing. We had the homemade pasta with sausage both times and died and went to heaven both times (Matricianella with sausage). It was by far the best meal in Rome and that's even taking into consideration the food tour we went on. The daughter was our waitress both times. She was very kind and generous. The mother is the chef and has an amazing vision for executing the food. They have a selection of grilled steaks and the one with red wine sauce is to die for. You must try the food here. It's definitely worth the visit!!!! read more

The best food I've had anywhere in Italy, and I've eaten a lot over the past five years! I got the pasta with sausage and on first taste I was in love. You could taste it was freshly homemade and so flavorful. House white wine was great and inexpensive and the ricotta dessert, get it! Family owned and reasonable prices! Reservations recommended as it's small inside but they will try to work with you if you're a walk in. Wish I'd discovered this family owned gem way sooner. So amazing!! read more

First place we ate at in Rome! Lived up to what I had hoped for! I had the spaghetti with truffles and pancetta which was out of this world!! Also ordered the,mixed grilled veggies which was zucchini and eggplant and very flavorful! My boyfriend ordered the cacio e pepe pasta, which was also very good, the homemade pasta was excellent! House red wine was only €10 and so good! Service was quick and friendly : ) will try and to back before we leave Rome! read more

We called to get an early (for Rome) dinner reservation at 8pm and arrived late. at the time the restaurant was not busy so i thought i had made the reservation for no good reason, however, within 20 minutes, it was packed, on a Monday night! Intimate and homey, this place felt as authentic as it can get in Rome. Our server was super sweet and we were never rushed as we enjoyed our absolutely delicious meal, and then our bottle of wine before ordering the most amazing dessert of our lives. I cannot recommend this place enough! perfect for a romantic dinner. read more

Osteria del Cavaliere is small, family-run establishment that has a lotta heart. My friend and I decided to eat here as our last meal in Italy together and it was an excellent choice! We shared the cavaliere pasta (creamy) and the sliced steak. Both were YUM and a great pairing. We also enjoyed a berry tiramisu and that was just as delightful. 5 stars for a great meal and friendly service! read more

So glad we found this restaurant and it was walking distance from our hotel. Run by such nice people and the food was excellent. The homemade pastas are to die for, as is the tiramisu. Prices are super reasonable for the quality of food and service delivered. Great finale to our visit in Rome. Highly recommended. read more
