We ate here our first evening in Rome. The food we had was all delicious! The hostess was very nice and made us welcome with a round of their house limoncello. This little restaurant is just a block down from the Trevi Fountain. After a long day of site seeing it was a lovely spot to enjoy each others company and reflect on the day's adventure.

Great food and service. It gets very busy though so make sure to do a reservation or eat within an hour. It's also in a touristy area so be prepared for tables needing to be turned quickly.

On our first night in Rome, while staying right next to the Trevi Fountain, my partner and I stumbled upon Agrodolce Roma -- just a short walk down from the fountain -- and what an incredible find it turned out to be. It's a small, charming, and intimate restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, but don't let its size fool you: this place delivers one of the best dining experiences in all of Italy. After one evening here, Agrodolce instantly tied for my favorite restaurant in Italy (alongside Lo Sfizio) and now ranks as my second favorite restaurant in the entire world. Every single dish we tried was absolutely delicious -- perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented, and bursting with authentic Roman flavor. You can taste the care and passion in every bite. The service is extraordinary, warm and genuine, making you feel as though you're being welcomed into someone's home rather than dining out. The ambience is cozy, inviting, and effortlessly authentic, creating that perfect blend of comfort and elegance that makes you never want to leave. In fact, on one short trip we had to come back for our final night before departing. Whatever you're thinking, get the Fettuccine al tartufo di stagione -- you simply can't go wrong. Agrodolce Roma is the definition of a hidden gem: authentic Italian dining at its finest, and a must-visit for anyone who loves incredible food, heartfelt service, and the true spirit of Rome.

Had an amazing meal while staying briefly in Rome on my way home to USA. I am so glad I found this place. Excellent food and very nice staff.

This is my favorite restaurant on the trip! Everything everything everything is perfetta!!! My pear arugula is the best ever! It is a dish I can eat forever! The grilled veggies is also extremely delightful! The other dishes my son and my husband enjoy very much! Service is impeccable! The entire dining setting is delicate. Love love love!

This was a great dinner! We made a reservation over what's app the day before. They were booked for a Wednesday night - though there were 5 of us. It's a very small place so for 4 of us it may have been easier to get in the next night. The food was very good and so was the service. We had the veal scaloppine, fettuccine carbonara, and steak. Also the tiramisu and chocolate cake. Definitely should try this place. Reasonably priced.

This place was amazing. Truly delicious food. Every single dish. Highly recommend

This place was hands down my favorite spot in Rome. The salads were off the chain delicious, fresh and flavorful. The pasta was insane. Highly recommend to anyone. Service was also impeccable!!!!

This place might be small but it delivers the most consistently excellent food I have had in Rome. They have the classic Roman staples like Cacio e Pepe, pasta alla Grecia, Carbonata, and Amatriciana but also offer a variety of other choices that will please almost any taste level. The wine list was also excellent and offered wines from all regions of Italy as well as other countries. We shared appetizers and mains. Not one was a disappointment. The staff was also very attentive and accommodating. I highly recommend Agrodolce. One piece of advise is to please make a reservation since as I stated it is a very small restaurant. Wish I took more pictures before we ate all the food.

Food was great and very fresh. This Limoncello spritz was not on the menu but no problems when I ordered. My carbonara was super rich and fresh. It's a very small place with maybe 10 tables so expect an intimate experience.

    Self explanatory sign...

A great place for a delicious meal with house-made pasta, superb service and a very nice wine list. It's well located near major landmarks. The ambiance is a relief from the bustle outside of the crowds of tourists. We can't wait to go back!

Great, quaint restaurant! We typically stay away from places that are that close to main tourists spots, but even with this being so close to the Trevi Fountain, it was not the typical tourist trap you usually see. The four cheese gnocchi was to die for and the collard greens they suggested with it cut through the fat nicely. We couldn't leave without dessert, and the tiramisu did not disappoint. Service was quick and everyone who helped us was attentive. If we find ourselves in Rome again, we'd return.

A.Ma.Zing! Ambiance, punctuality, service, FOOD. We had bruschetta, prosciutto & buffalo mozzarella, ravioli, carbonara, and tiramisu. Blanco e blanco brut, Chianti & Montepulcino wines. All we would eat and drink 10 more times next week. Must visit.

    Tom B.

Amazing! Homemade pasta! Tiramisu! Awesome people watching... do it, you won't be disappointed.

Gotta have a before and after. It was targliatelle ai ragu do Manzo bolognese only one word to describe it DELICIOUS

Very Disappointing Experience - Osteria da Fortunata, Pantheon Location…read more We have visited Rome several times and have eaten at Osteria da Fortunata della Cancelleria on Via della Cancelleria. During our previous visits, we had excellent experiences with both the food and the customer service, which is why tonight's experience was especially disappointing. We ordered the carbonara and spaghetti, and unfortunately, the pasta was undercooked, very chewy, and cold. It was not at all the quality we had experienced during our previous visits. When we asked the waiter to take the carbonara back because it was not edible, his attitude was extremely disappointing. Rather than offering to replace the dish or addressing our concern professionally, he told us that the manager had approved it and that we could simply take the food home. What made the experience even worse was the atmosphere of this location. The restaurant felt more like a factory than an authentic Italian dining experience. We noticed the staff using walkie-talkies to communicate with the host, and as soon as customers left their tables, the waiter would communicate with the host to immediately send new customers in to fill the space. It gave us the impression that the priority was turning tables over as quickly as possible rather than providing guests with a pleasant dining experience. The constant rush was noticeable and took away from what should have been an enjoyable meal in Rome. It is very unfortunate because we have visited Osteria da Fortunata several times in the past and genuinely enjoyed both the food and the service. Tonight, however, the cold and poorly cooked pasta, the attitude of the waiter, and the rushed, factory-like atmosphere made this a very disappointing experience.

Our hotel manager had suggested another restaurant, but I was apprehensive to try, but did later, more on that restaurant review in it's own post. I rather did what I should have done throughout the trip to, which is to search google for local reviews. This tactic I found to be much better than to trust American reviews for restaurants to visit from Youtube or even here, just because the American touristy taste tends to favor bland or Olive Garden style pseudo Italian. The real Italian taste is much different and something one needs to develop. I was familiar with European Italian food, as I had said before in other reviews that Mexico has better Italian food outside of Italy. Additionally, the good restaurants here in Italy do not open before 7 PM. If it does or if someone that looks foreign to Italy is outside trying to lure you in, it's a tourist restaurant with iffy flavor. At this restaurant my husband had the Lobster pasta and I had the spinach/ricotta ravioli, and we both were beyond satisfied. We also had the artichoke as an appetizer, and trusted the waiter with his suggestion for a bottle of wine. He must have been some genius because the wine went well with our meal. The ambience was cozy and very family oriented, however, the rain outside made it romantic for us. Another key point for this restaurant and it traditional flare was that they brought out the olive oil and red vinegar for our salad and of course olive oil for our wonderful home-made bread. I'm so glad we chose this place for those of us Americans who understand culinary cuisine.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
