This place lost it in the first 90 seconds. The waiter tried a wine upsell and it bombed. My wife knows wine, and even though she fully explained our choice, he didn't like it. From then on, he pretty much ignored us. When the food arrived, the well flavored meatballs were over fried and dry, as was the pork chop. But the worst was the bucatelli. The pasta itself was gloppy, and the bland sauce was unnaturally red. Tasted like canned. There are better options around. read more

Sometimes you just get lucky and stumble upon the best restaurant when you least expect it. We did this last Monday. If you are walking down the Via Della Cuccagna from the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II to the Piazza Navona, you must stop here. It is one of top 100 restaurants in Rome. They offer seating inside and outside (with heaters of course). We were warmly greeted by Ginevra and Matteo and seated immediately inside. The restaurant is charming with lots of ambience. We were pressed for time as we had an appointment. I could not resist the Gnocchi con Crema di Zucca, Salsiccia e Provola. The Gnocchi was so light and fluffy and the sauce so delicate. My husband had the Spaghetti alla Carbonara. our compliments to the chef, Mery. The food was delicious! Our first dinner AND last dinner in Rome. Came across it by accident and after 7 days of two a days (not workouts, but pasta) we settled on this place to cap off our first visit to the Eternal City. We ate here on a recent visit to Rome and thoroughly enjoyed it. We split 3 pasta dishes--Ala carbonara, cacio e pepe and all'amatriciana. All were delicious, cooked just right, with the right amounts of ingredients. Fried meatballs were also excellent. Not deep fried so don't be scared off those. The bruschetta is only one slice of bread, so it is probably ideal for only 1-2 people, 2. The carbonara was disappointing--it was not creamy, it was dry, and lacked flavor. We have had much better carbonara at different locations nearby, 3. The Gnocchi with tomato sauce was delicious, we liked the tomato sauce and the gnocchi itself was housemade! Sweet little spot for great food and entertaining people watching. In the evening there is a major flux of people moving between Piazza Navona and Camp de' Fiori right past this sweet little restaurant. The staff speaks many languages and English got me by. OMG this place is SO good. Of all the restaurants where my spouse and I ate in Rome and Venice, this was our favorite. The vegetarian pesto gnocchi was crazy good, and the house wine was delish. Also, the outdoor patio is adorable. The restaurant is super close to Palazzo Navona but kind of tucked away on a narrow street and therefore less touristy, which was perfect. A brief review for an average meal: Greek salad was generously sized but nothing special. Vegetable soup also just ok, with an under seasoned broth. Cacio e pepi was appropriately peppery but the cheese seems to have had a stretcher added to it, which made it congeal too much. Bucatini al amatriciana was too tart, with an unbalanced sauce. Carciofi alla Romana were perfectly prepared artichokes, quite delicious and the bread was also very good. Unlikely to return but not a bad stop. read more
