A beautifully composed and executed meal! We arrived at 10pm and shared a pasta dish, secondo of steak and delightful dessert of chocolate cake with orange compote. Gracious wait staff. If we return to Rome, we will return.

A local friend recommended this restaurant. We couldn't get the same day reservation but went anyway. There was a small line outside the restaurant by the time it opened (at 7:30p). Luckily we got a table, on condition that we finish by 9 pm. Our waiter is very pleasant and explained the menu very well. We ended up ordering "fish of the day" (sole) and "meat of the day". My beef was so soft, the waiter told me it was braised for 4 hours. My wife's dish came out a little late, so they offered an amuse-bouche while she was waiting. It was goat cheese with hazelnut in sweet balsamic vinegar and honey. That explosion of taste in my mouth is truly memorable.

Great wine with our meal

Nothing but positive things ti say about this restaurant. Impeccable service and impeccable food. Top notch across the board. We went there because some of my family wanted their truffle carbonara, which was delicious. I had the traditional carbonara and was not disappointed. One of the best meals and experiences on our trip.

Mushroom pasta

Solid pasta, cooked perfectly al dente with amazing flavors. The carbonara with a hint of truffle was my favorite. SO good. Great wine selection - I got the Lambrusco which is always a nice refreshing red on a hot day. Great homey ambiance, friendly. Definitely come here!

Asparagus and tomato special

Great restaurant in the heart of Rome- full of locals. Charming and small with all the traditional Roman favorites and some modern options too. Lots of wine choices as well. Not giving 5 stars as I ordered the nightly special pasta dish with asparagus and cherry tomatoes; not only did it not have any tomatoes on it, but the asparagus was super mushy, it felt like baby food. Fortunately, my fiancés carbonara was top notch as well as our antipasti and dessert. You need to get reservations a week in advance for weekends and a few days for week days.

Went here with a group of 10 based on a recommendation and boy, it did not disappoint. This family run establishment was excellent, from the service to the food. Would definitely recommend it to anyone going to Rome. Make sure you have reservations just in case.

Caprese salad and zucchini flowers

We had 2 appetizers- caprese salad and zucchini flowers. Both were delicious. Then we had the gnocchi with mushrooms and the carbonera pasta. Wow the 2nd plate was out of this world. I had never tasted anything so delicious. Everyone was so nice and polite too. Thank u for the great time and food.

Frascarelli Tartufi

The owner of our Air BnB told us that this is her favorite place to eat and we wanted some authentic Italian food. We are so happy that we went. We did have some trouble finding it since it's hidden a bit in an alley way. The prices are decent here for the house wine and primo course. The primo course is a very generous portion. The atmosphere here is very cozy and is decorated with many wine bottles. The menu has so many options which made it hard to decide since it all looked so good. We ordered wine with our meals and were pleased with the price and the pour. I ordered the Frascarelli Tartufi which is a mushroom truffle pasta. The noodles were so thick and fresh. We barely had any room for dessert, but we couldn't pass up tiramisu!

Gnocchi in lobster sauce

For elevated Roman homecooking, I recommend checking out this sophisticated family restaurant. Renato e Luisa provides classic, hearty dishes with a modern twist. The atmosphere is cozy, service is warm (though not super English-friendly), and the food is satisfying. The three day slow cooked egg was surprisingly delightful. Warm, rich, and flavorful-- the runny egg and truffle was a perfect dip for our basket of bread. I'm pretty sure the dish taught me I might like eggs afterall. I had one of the specials of the day-- gnocchi with a red lobster sauce. The portion size was good, the gnocchi was a good texture and stuffed with a nice ricotta, and the lobster sauce was subtle but tasty. The creme brûlée was visually bizarre but very nice. Everything I had was delicious. The staff was also accommodating of questions and alterations. There are plenty of vegetarian and pescatarian options here. Definitely try out this solid spot hidden among Rome's abundant tourist traps!

Sliced beef. (The best meal I had in all of Italy)

My favorite meal in Rome! My friends and I loved it so much that we ate here twice during our 5 day stay in Rome! Honestly, we happened to stumble upon this place as it was close to our Air BnB, but boy are we glad we did. The please is relatively small, as with most Italian restaurants. Very minimal, but authentic decor. The staff was AMAZING! They were super attentive and super helpful with the menu, and they even gave us some options on nightlife (which were great, btw). The food! The food, omg. Everything was fresh and flavorful and tasted like it was made with heaping amounts of love. Highlight dishes were the beef, the carbonara, the salmon, the oxtail (yes, Italian oxtail) and their take on tiramisu.

Best food we've had in all of Italy. We had high expectations because of the good reviews, and they were all true. The tenderloin with prunes, gnocchi, and tagliata beef flank were particularly good. Service was fast, food was fresh, and servers spoke good English. Worth the price!!

Wow! This restaurant is an excellent choice for seafood lovers! This place gets packed so make sure you reserve a table in advance. Forget ordering off the menu and go for their specials and don't forget to bring your appetite because the portions are very generous. Honorable mention goes to their crudo plate and octopus pasta (see pics). I can't recommend this place enough! Definitely a spot popular with locals... translation: very few tourists. But, no worries the staff are more than accommodating, even if your Italian needs polishing.

It was the best I've had in Rome because the whole flower remains intact and and it is one of the few without anchovies.

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

Already depressed knowing we were returning to the cold and fearful Minneapolis, we spent the day packing and wandering Prati. After drowning our sorrows at a few cocktail emporiums in the early evening, we walked into Su e Giu without a reservation close to 9:30. The two guys working the front showed us to a table, and we proceeded to have a perfect last night meal. Our appetizers and pastas were great, service was friendly, and I spent time reflecting on how wonderful Rome is, rather than thinking about our return to the fractured States. Su e Giu Cucina Romana is the perfect Roman restaurant to feel La Dolce Vita. It is a sweet life indeed.

I had possibly the most amazing chick food pasta a girl could imagine. Girls know what girl food is. The pasta in Italy is just better -obviously. But then put all sorts of girl flavors on it like Lemon and Orange, just lightly enough, zest with a small hint of cheese-..... omgosh. Yes, yes, and yes. Need my hubs to replicate at home. He is going to be busy trying to perfect this. Tagliatelle with orange and lemon parmesan. This was it. It was the best. Everything else we ordered was amazing as well. Wait outside. They don't have a sign telling you to wait, no server telling you to wait. You wait out there, wondering if you're in the right place, but then people stand behind you and you're like - oh! I'm here. This is the place. There are possibly 4 tables inside. It's small. I read about them being rude- we did not have that problem. In fact, they made a mistake and we kindly let them know we ordered something else- they corrected it and were nice about it.

Our kind waiter bright over water, bread and breadsticks. No olive oil, no butter just dry. For our lunch I decided on the cacio e Pepe and Lisa opted for the ragú. Both were delicious. For dessert we were told the owners mom made lemon cake so that was a no brainer. It was fabulous and paired well with espresso. Our waiter also brought us Amaro. It's a licorice like liqueur enjoyed as a digestif. Definitely an acquired taste that reminded me of Aguardiente. We were both satisfied with our selections. Our meals started with bread service, both fresh bread and packaged breadsticks. We didn't receive any olive oil which might be the norm in Italy. For dessert, we opted for a slice of their featured lemon torta. It was enjoyable and we paired it with espresso. Finally, our server offered us a popular digestivi - Amaro. It reminded me of Jägermeister and I wasn't a fan. But I appreciated the hospitality and kindness of his gesture. In summary, we left content and with full bellies.
