The food at this restaurant was amazing and the service was excellent. To be honest, we were extremely surprised that we found it in Scranton, Pennsylvania homemade pasta. The prices are excellent and the portions are excellent as well. I highly recommend this restaurant for anybody passing through or coming to see their kids at the university of Scranton. The ambience is also excellent with bar seating or just regular restaurant seating but the location is not huge by any means. We parked in the steam town mall parking garage. I was pleasantly surprised by the homemade quality of the food at Picciocchi's. I travel for work and was in the mood for some good Italian food. Picciocchi's did not disappoint. I had the calamari for a starter and the bucatini dinner option. Both were delicious and well cooked, just right for both dishes. I love that they only have Italian wines, not french and no california. I had to try something different and it was a fantastic glass of Red. I can't remember what it was, but awe soooo good. When is Scranton and in the mood for Italian, you must visit Picciocchis. It was hard to find at first as I couldn't see the sign from the street. It's very discreet but worth hunting for. If you knew me- you know I know food. And I'm Italian with grandparents who grew up in Italy. Picciocchi's Pasta is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! From the moment we sat down, we were greeted with excellent service. We ordered the calamari and meatballs. The calamari was so tender, and the meatballs were so good, we took an order home with us. Chef Picciocchi was out and about the entire time checking on every table. He made you feel like a VIP. He made a recommendation for my dinner and it was incredible- Chicken Scallopini with pesto spaghetti. My son ate all of his pizza, and Chef Picciocchi made him an additional two slices! Just wow. My mother and I stopped in while visiting family and we were blown away. First of all the Patio and restaurant are gorgeous, thats what drew us in. We stopped at the bar for a glass of wine, Ashley gave us such great recommendations that we decided to stay for some anti-pasta despite out tight schedule! The clams were to die for! We heared about this italian restaurant from family friends, and we were deeply dissapointed. The space is beautiful , but the food is mediocre and the person in charge (looks like a chef, not sure if hes the manager, chef, owner..) walks around and yells at the staff and corects customers on their "italina" pronounciation . Unassuming place in a shopping center. If you weren't looking for it, no chance you go there. And what a loss that would be. Owner/chef is from Italy. Could not be any nicer. Food is the star of the show. Fresh pasta with pesto was off the chain. So damn good. The restaurant itself has zero ambience. It's an old pizza parlor with a few booths and tables. The food is amazing so I couldn't possibly care less. It's a byob. Gerrity,s has wine if you forget to bring your own. It's a bit pricey but worth every penny. Great food I like that the cook/owner hand delivered every dish to the table. Nice large space and beautiful ambiance. We did go on Christmas Eve so at first they misplaced our reservation but they found us a table. They also forgot to bring our mixed drinks over to the table. We didn't get them until after the salads and we asked again but since it was just opening that week and it was a holiday that was ok. Mistakes are expected to be made sometimes. No matter how good the food eventually was, by the time we were seated we were pretty much over it. Stood there for nearly an hour with just the odd 'sorry'. No offer of a drink or a seat at the bar. Thought we might get fast service as it took so long to get seated but we sat there another 15 minutes before even getting offered water. Reservation was for 7:45 and we were still finishing up as staff were cleaning and setting the rest of the tables. Avoid second sitting at all cost and you might have a great night. Just the food rating for this place would likely have been a 5 star. read more

If I wanted to eat on a couch, I would stay in my living room. very pretentious and with very limited staff. This place is tucked away in the most unassuming strip malls. And don't let it fool you -- the restaurant is far and above one of the most beautiful meals I have ever had. Sandwiches are top notch, but the bread (focaccia, specifically) is just out of this world. Homemade pastas are just splendid and they're only matched by the red sauce. I had to travel yesterday to the Wyoming Valley for a business appointment and took the opportunity to visit with my old friend, Bill Toms, of Clarks Green. Bill and I worked together as investigators with the Commonwealth many years ago and strive to keep in touch. While there, we stumbled upon Picciocchi's Pasta. Neither Bill or I had been there in the past but just from observing from the outside it appeared to have a great variety of pasta offerings. To say that Picciocchi's is a spectacular pasta emporium is simply an understatement. I know that the NE region of the county is rich in Italian eateries, but Stefano, the head chef and owner, in partnership with his wife, Kristy, take their culinary craft to an altogether new level. And the people are friendly and welcoming and take excellent care of you. Location is in a strip mall and so not the best ambience, but still the whole experience was wonderful. Pasta is fresh and made onsite. Don't go with a group larger than four as kitchen cannot do multiple entrees at same time. Meals come out as cooked so everyone at the table does not receive their meal simultaneously. read more

4 visits to Picciocchi's in Clark's Summit and time to post. Having tried just about everything both eating there and bringing product home I can say without a doubt this is the best fresh Italian I have found anywhere in the states. From pasta to sauces to entrees to imported speciality products it doesn't get more authentic. Huaband and wife only in the States for a little over a year now and they have brought all of there "true authentic " talents with them and they are over the top in wanting to expose all to the true tastes of Italy and Europe. O M G!!!!! So my husband is an excellent cook, so it is hard to give him a night off and get takeout that is anywhere near his culinary expertise. Well, I found the place! The problem with this restaurant is that it only has five stars it was an excellent experience Steffano the owner couldn't of been nicer kind considerate and all the sauces are spectacular. I would recommend that you get small portions so you can try different types of sauces, and pastas. When we told him what we were going to do that he brought out a variety of different pastas and sauces. He took very good care of us you can see his passion for the food and for his love of people. Our stomachs were full and our hearts were happy. Highly recommend. We live an hour away but we will go back fortunately for us and our children live there. Can't wait to go back. read more
