Our usual pho place wasn't open on Sunday so this place came up when we were trying to find something quick to eat. I had high expectations given the high reviews. To be clear, my 3-star is not related to the service or the staffing. I understand and am aware that many restaurants are facing staff shortages due to covid. they did their best to accommodate given they had limited people to wait the tables and make the food; thus, the wait was a bit longer. That's expected and I'm ok with it. My low rating is due to the taste of the food and the number of toppings. I ordered the seafood (shrimp, scallops and squid) pho and my bf got the flank and brisket pho. we both paid $2 to get meat balls for our pho. I was disappointed in the quantity and quality of protein. My 2 scallops were tiny like the size of beads... squid was only 2 pieces. There just wasn't much toppings on it. As for the meat balls, we paid $2 each and it was basically one meatball cut in 3-4 pieces. I've shopped in asian grocery stores and I know how much it cost for a whole bag of meatball. $2 is quite pricey for one meatball. The broth lacked flavor so had to add seasoning on it. I have been eating Vietnamese food for a very long time in the most authentic restaurants all across Houston. I was very pleased with the flavor & quality of the food. I usually don't review yelp a lot, i do once in awhile to give the establishments the credits they deserve, not just complaints. Today is pho Thanh Long. I ordered check out before while was at a hotel. There were Banh Canh & pork chop broken rice (my favorite). The portions of the 2 meals were enormous feeding enough me & my 2 girls for the entire day. I was stunned by how much I'd enjoyed the meals though they were carry out. Another time we were all out for lunch & decided to sit down today, we ordered everything but had to take home eventually because of the kids. The workers there were super nice & accommodating with our requests & the food was out just 10min later (we ordered more this time) the food lasted us 2 days. Yesterday i was in mood for some pho through ubereats & made a weird request only knowing it just had been done, but the waitress i was on the phone with was very much understanding. I got what I wanted even though it was late they were closed & i can imagine the rush but not them. The service they provide has been spectacular. The order got delivered just how i'd expected every single detail been honored carefully way past my standards. Unique Salt Fried Tofu dish that brings me back every time I'm in Houston. I sure wish I could find a Vietnamese restaurant here that serves it. It comes to the table and a beautiful bed of romaine leaves. Since we are sharing it we've asked for an extra cup of the vinegary sauce that is optional but really gives the dish and excellent flavor. I wish I understood how they cook this tofu, however none of the chefs we are available and the servers primarily speak Vietnamese with a little bit of English mixed in. Maybe next time. Speaking of service, it is fantastic here. You're offered water immediately upon arriving at your table, your drink order is taken, menus given and very shortly there-after they return for your order. They are very patient and if you decide on an appetizer and want it started while you continue to peruse the menu they are more than happy to accommodate! The tofu mentioned above happens to be in the appetizer category. Our server was very attentive-Offering additional water and refreshing our beverages frequently. Everything I have eaten here, I have enjoyed. The Hot&Sour Soup has beef broth that is super rich along with small, tender bits of beef, few mushrooms, bamboo shoots and just enough heat. I have enjoyed the Shrimp Phó-and the Beef, Pork and Chicken Bùn-I get them in the traditional style and I use all of the condiments provided. I add the optional jalapeños and chili sauce. I love most of the fresh herbs the only exception is that I do not eat cilantro so I am always careful to let them know that.-I am one of those people that has the gene that makes cilantro taste like soap, so if I forget to ask that it be removed, it really ruins the dish for me. While you're here check out the different types of noodles and also the variations of rice. I have never ended up having a dish that I didn't enjoy. I also believe this is the most extensive menu I have ever seen. Pricing is very reasonable. The property is spotless. What are you waiting for??? Came here unexpectedly after picking up my parents from the reflexology place next door. Probably the busiest Pho place I've been to, I love seeing that! Employees were nice, prices were great and food was good. I took a picture of the Pho & lunch pages of the menu. For the 3 of us, our total came out to be $25. My dried egg noodle was really good, the small portion is generous and really filled me up. The smashed up peanuts added a nice touch to it. The decor of the restaurant is nice and simple. The food and the staff were good my only issue was the take out containers I ordered the #15 pho soup and i found it weird that they put the noodle meat and vegetables in a white styrofoam container instead of putting eveything in a plastic bowl like any other vietnamese restaurant does.(i had to pay .75 for the bowl just to eat my soup at school,) which money is no issue and I completely understand charging the costumers for any extra containers, but if this restaurant is trying to kill the plant faster by making their customers buy an extra container to eat their soup in a bowl instead of it being in a white styrofoam container, its working and another thing when i opened the bag the broth was spilled all over the bag. The food was good and the staff was really nice but if its a soup that a customer wants why not give us a plastic bowl container? Some of us dont go back home you know? read more

The is my wife's favorite spot for vermicelli!!!!! The noodles are perfectly cooked to tenderness and never soggy, or too stale. The egg rolls are really good and crisp! You will be full after you finish this!!! I like the seafood dish on crispy noodles. The dish Os aesthetically pleasing to the eye as it is too my stomach !!! I was in the area and was extremely hungover and wanted soup. My typical choices for Asian food is Bellaire so that's what I'm going to compare it to. The eggrolls were the best thing here as far as the rest of the items I got I really could do without. The hu tieu mi was very bland and there was barely any meat in the bowl of soup. The pho ga was lacking any real pho flavor, kind of just tasted like regular chicken broth and noodles. Also got the hu tieu date ap chao and it was just a greased plate, thr beef was extremely salty and tough. If I came back to this area I would just stick to the eggrolls. Pho places around this area where I grew up tend to be revolving doors. Pho Thanh Long, however, has been here for forever as far as I know. From the first time I ate here over a decade ago to now, a lot of things have changed, especially my experience with food. My third grade self first thought, "You know, I should wait a bit longer and try this place a couple more times before posting a Yelp review. Oh, Yelp doesn't exist yet? Don't tell me what to think!" I was such a brat. In my latest visit a few days ago, I got the pho with everything in it (#14). The prices are cheap at less than $7 for a small bowl, but you definitely get a cut in quantity. Smaller bowl size and less meat. I usually feel bloated with liquid and noodles with just a small bowl, but I felt that I could get a large here. The meat is pretty standard and the broth was clean, but the noodles were below par. Digging deep into my memory, their vermicelli with pork was pretty good and their fried rice was addictive. Not sure what they put in there, but it was out of this world. Take that with a grain of salt though, cause that was more than a decade ago and coming from a kid that liked baked potatoes with zero toppings. read more

I had heard disappointing comments on this place, but I had a pretty good experience myself. We were looking for a place to visit during this hurricane madness, this was one of the few offices that were open. Walked in with a lot of crowds of customers, to-go customers and what not, however, we were able to find seats pretty fast. It is pretty spacious place, with at least 6-7 large round tables to have family style meal. Service is very efficient and optimal, in that they were able to cater towards that many people. All the food came out within 10-15 min, after the appetizer was out. we ordered, 1 order of egg rolls, egg noodle, pho and roasted chicken egg rolls: 3/5 it was pretty hard, almost didn't taste that fresh. Nothing particular about the stuffing. Egg noodle:4.5/5 Definitely one of my favorite dishes we ordered. Adequate amount of sauce and vege/ seafood toppings. Noodles were fresh and crispy, and remained crispy even after awhile. Pho: 3/5 Bit too sweet for pho. Toppings were overcooked, and it was little too tough for me I think overall I want to give 4/5 for their diligence, and service to open the place when everything is closed at this time. read more

Lucked out by just taking a chance to stop in while driving around the area. I knew it had to be decent when the place started filling up shortly after arriving Sunday afternoon. The staff is attentive, responsive and generally friendly without being too friendly. The dining area was clean and dishes removed promptly. Drink refill service was timely. Spring rolls were a good size and portion of 4. Generous with the sauce though the price was considerably higher than I'm accustomed to. They were fresh though I would have preferred they were cooler. The pho was tasty and piping hot. Toppings and additions were fresh. The small bowl probably would have been enough, but I opted for the large since the price difference wasn't much more. I would recommend stopping in and also visit again. Visited on 10/04/16. Pho Thanh Long is a go-to place for me when I am in this area. A casual place with generally good service. On this visit I introduced this restaurant to a friend. The menu is extensive with a good variety to choose from and each item well explained. Tonight we chose the following: Amazing crispy crepe filled with veggies served with lettuce leaves to wrap around portions of the crepe dipped into fish sauce and then savored greatly. The Pho Tai is ordered with the thinly sliced beef eye of round steak on the side so that each piece can be rolled up and deeply immersed into the fragrant broth and "cooked". The rice noodles in the Pho are of a more firmer texture and pleasing to the tooth. Overall we enjoyed our meals and were very satisfied. My dinner partner was ecstatic to see the Banh xeo on the menu! A return visit is a must. One caveat to Management...if one person is still eating (literally with noodles still being slurped) do NOT allow your servers to clear the table without first asking if some items may be removed! But to clear the table except for the aforementioned soup bowl gives the impression of being rushed out of the restaurant. There were still a couple more hours left before closing time. read more

Naturally, this review would be a little more crticial as I am vietnamese eating at a vietnamese restaurant. I ordered the pho tai, which is a very common order amongst viet people. When considering pho, you mainly look at the broth because everything else is simple enough. The meat and vermicelli noodles were standard enough and the same can be said about the broth. Overall it was a fine meal when you're on the go, but if you're looking to be wow'd by real noodles, probably not the place to go. Service and ambience were fine enough, can't expect more for what the price is. Will come back again for sure as its local and conveniene. read more

Got take out from here yesterday and am very happy! Two orders of the large white chicken pho is more than enough for four servings. It came completely deconstructed, which I loved! Where to start... I'll go with the positives because there's not a lot. The Thai tea is really good and we almost ate for free. So a little over halfway through our meal, they presented us with a check and our change of over $40, except it wasn't ours and we declined it (damn those moral values we hold so dear). Again, the Thai tea was awesome. Now for the rest: We ordered the shrimp spring rolls as an appetizer. They were fresh, but the most bland spring rolls I've ever had. It was basically noodles, lettuce, and some boiled shrimp in a rice wrapper. Literally no flavor. No cilantro, no bean sprouts, nothing to give it a little oomph. The peanut sauce was a little too gelatinous. I should have known at this point to just walk away, but I still had the Thai tea to finish. So we ordered the pho. I got the beef pho with the eye round steak and tendon. The boyfriend got eye round steak and well done flank. Both of them were beyond bland. It was like tap water with a slight fishy flavor. I could barely eat mine and the boyfriend attempted to drown his in Siracha. In the end, we left feeling pretty disappointed. To be fair, the service wasn't terrible. Just the food is bad. read more
